Terrible service for our group of 26. Called ahead to ask if they could handle our group, but we only had one waiter. He did the best he could but had other tables. It was forever just to get water, and another long wait for drink orders. After our drinks were delivered we waited 30+ minutes for our food orders to be taken. We were there 3+ hours, most of it spent waiting. I know it's difficult to turn away customers, but if you cannot handle a group with 2-3 waiters and/or offer a limited menu to speed service, then pls say no. read more

Was there on Saturday evening and had the pleasure of listening to the Memories, Kim and Dave, they have a really large variety of songs, and have fantastic voices. Our experience is not a rare one. We had a server named Mike who rushed our giving our drink order. Then he rushed our giving our meal order. He behaved as if he had no time to serve our table. He behaved as if the building were on fire. He was rude, abusive and had an attitude unlike we had ever experience in my 76 year long lifetime. Once our meal was finished it took over 90 minutes to get our bill. Even though I spoke to him twice to give us a bill but it never came. An hour and a half later his mother finally brought our bills. Needless to say each of our couples left very low tips. Unfortunately the food was terrible. I had lasagna that tasted old and garlicky. My husband had the corvina which was very bland. The service was very slow even though it was off season and pretty empty. I made a reservation for the bar area. The place was packed. The entertainment was really good We shared a pizza and had two drinks. Very Good pizza and we will be back. You do need a reservation if you want to see the entertainment. The bar area is dark and woodsy With a good vibe. read more

My friend and I went for lunch to celebrate my birthday. I went specifically for the Mama's meatballs. I heard about their meatballs from a friend who knew that l am a "good" meatball lover. I ordered their meatball sandwich on their homemade bread. Delicious!!! I also ordered a side dish of eggplant parmigiana. Which was very good as well. My friend got the caprese salad and a side of meatballs. She was also very satisfied. The owner had come over to greet us and wish us a great day. Desert was tiramisu, which was delicious. Kudos go to Stephanie, our server. She was very sweet, and consistently at our table for anything that we needed or just to check on us. She also had taken a photo for us. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the entire Venice beach area. The food is traditional Italian and they have delicious cookies and desserts in a case by the front door. There are jazz bands that play in the big room or you can have a quiet dinner in the adjacent room near the large bar. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Dad recently moved to Venice from Sarasota so we stopped by for dinner after unpacking boxes. I got a Limonratta chicken dinner, since my little sister picked it for me. I didn't really enjoy it, so my dad asked if I could get another dish and the waitress said no. I was fine with this originally since I'd just eat at home, but I found a hair in the spinach of the limonratta. The waitress took it back to the bar and discussed with a coworker about what to do, I overheard "What if she put it there?" Despite there being no blonde in the hair. The waitress offered for me to get another dish but I wasn't in the mood to eat afterwards. Other than the hair, everything was fine. Ambience was nice, bar was busy and had good music. We love this place in Venice. The food is great and every night is a different music experience. The happy hour is literally two for one so be ready. They have wonderful small plates . And great Italian entrees. We always take our visitors from out of town here and none have ever been disappointed. It's a unique experience and if you want a quiet place to talk with friends , the main room is great. There's a room for big and little parties, but our favorite place to eat is in the bar and music and dance area (the lounge)--It's where the action is . We were in last week, our friend who is in the area, told us how great the food was. Well we were sure disappointed, I ordered a gluten free pizza, came to the table raw, sent it back, waited another 20 minutes, and then it came back so crispy it bordered on burned. Our friend had the lasagna, and I tell you when it came I thought it was soup, and it had very little flavor. She said she could not identify anything in it except for the noodles and cheese. There are so many better places that care about their customers than this place. Group of 12 had reservations, when we got there early, I noticed that every table was reserved, so our group was no surprise. Unfortunately, the management did not make staffing decision to accommodate the dining room. We ordered drinks and received them timely. After that everything went downhill. Waited over an hour for dinners to be served. Then had to wait 30 minutes for our bills. Spending 2.5 hours at a restaurant, most of it sitting and waiting was not fun. I had to leave at 7:40, after waiting over 2 hours to place my dinner order. When everyone at our table complained to the owner (who had come to take our order), about the long wait while most of the other tables had already been served, she loudly proclaimed, "I don't give a s*#t" I walked out and picked up a delicious sub from Publix on my way home. I go out to eat for relaxation and to enjoy a good meal. I use to go to Allegros to listen to the music. A few days ago my husband and I went to Allegros, the bartender(female) struck up a political conversation with us, which we did not as for. She was very adamant about her very dystopian conservative views. My husband and I will never eat at this restaurant again. read more

I ate here for lunch by myself and asked the waitress what was good. She recommended the Ahi salad for something lite. The tuna was mediocre and covered in black and white sesame seeds. The sear was only on one side and the salad greens were clearly prepackaged. The two accompanying sauces were straight from a bottle. Overall, the food was OK. We love the Italian food and the great jazz music. Have had the pizza, gnocchi, pasta, salads, and lemon chicken. All were delicious. Love the jazz music; performers are excellent, very talented. If this service was half as good as the food and music, we would give 5is restaurant 5 stars. It took us 2 1/2 hours to finish our meal and resolve the bill which had problems. We will only go again if we are not concerned about the service. It is awful as others have stated. The jazz and food may or may not be worth it depending on your expectations. read more

The online menu is outdated cost wise. But so was the indoor dining menu. I ordered two personal pan pizzas with three toppings. Should have been $13.75. I was charged $18 for each. When I complained to the waiter who only had been there three days I got nowhere. I told him I wasn't paying it and to take it back to mama. She adjusted my bill down to $15 apiece which is still $1.25 more than I should've had to pay for each one. The food was OK. Not Great just OK. The last time I went I got the chicken marsala which tasted like somebody had just poured a bottle of wine on my chicken. read more

Our food was terrible. We had Chicken Allegro, Chicken Limonatta, and Arrabbiata. None of us liked our food. My sauce on Chicken Allegro had no flavor and the chicken was gross. What a waist of $85! Go to Cassariano or Angelos. Both had excellent food, prices, and service! read more

Sept 17': The staff was very friendly and the restaurant has great visual appeal, unfortunately despite that the food took inordinately long to come out (45 mins) for a pizza and simple pasta dish. Should not take that long. The pizza was soggy with grease (requested crispy) and the pasta was just so-so. Wish the food issues didn't exist. Update March 18'... Updated this review as it seems Allegro has made some changes to improve their quality and service. Upgraded from 2 to 4 stars as a result. Have been here several times since my first reviews and glad to see things have moved in the right direction. read more

The playful and mysterious Allegro Bistro is the latest and greatest creation in a string of Italian restaurant concepts from experienced restauranteurs, the Valenti Family. If the original Valenti's Ristorante was certainly deserving of the namesake of the founder/operator, then surely Allegro Bistro is Mr. Valenti's...or should I say "Mistro's", Magnum Opus. Gianni (the bald guy) expertly handcrafts all the classics behind the bar with generous pours and an even more generous smile...sometimes other things if he takes a shinin' to you. If you're lucky you'll come on an evening when there's music. The place elucidates a familiar vibe where you seem to just know everybody there...even if you don't. I hosted a dinner party for my Mom's 85th birthday and everything went so smoothly, Nella took care of it all - certainly made my life easier!! :) The food was delicious, the music fantastic and everyone enjoyed themselves. But when I got home a review your bill, I found out that we were charge extra for salads after being told by server that they came with our dinners. We had a group of 20 after golf yesterday. The first person In our group arrive and was told.....no reservation. They did accommodate us in the center dining room. We were served glasses of ice....no water....we found pitchers of water to pour for ourselves on a cart in the back. After 15 minutes we finally saw a waiter who seemed put out and bothered. Drinks arrived after another 15-20 minutes. Then the waiter disappeared. Finally one of our party went to the front desk and asked to send our waiter to take food orders. An hour and thirty minutes after our arrival, our food arrived. Like others on this page have commented, the food was delicious....but it's just not worth the aggravation. Ironically we had an identical situation occur here 3 years ago. When we complained about the service the owner was extremely rude. We swore we'd never go back.
