Excellent service from a master electrician. Problem: My S. Arlington condo had a ceiling fan that was at least 20 years old, and just stopped working over the weekend. On Monday I noticed the base felt really hot, and I worried it might cause a short. I left a message on Greg's phone and he replied quickly, then came right over. He explained his hourly rate and we agreed to just remove the fan even tho I didn't have a replacement. (Never mess with electricity, that's my motto!) He removed the fan & took for disposal, capped the opening, then cleaned up. I can't wait to call him and schedule lighting upgrades throughout my condo. read more

Greg Drone is a master electrician in Park Fairfax. Since we live in Park Fairfax, it's quite convenient to have a competent electrician so close. He works on the weekends and will come in the mornings. He often comes early so be aware of that. He has fixed the light in our kitchen and the light outside our door. Both instances took less than 30 minutes so he is quite quick! I can't speak to price since our landlord paid the bill. read more

My rating is based on customer service only and not the quality of this company's work since we didn't get that far. So I just called to obtain pricing information and was asked a series of questions about where I lived. The website says they serve Alexandria in the surrounding area. I live in Alexandria AND have the same zip code as this company, so I'm not sure why this was an issue. However, after determining the name and location of my condo (which is literally 1.5 miles away) I was told that I should look at my condo's newsletter (of which we have none) to find a contractor that's familiar with my building. How familiar do you need to be to install track lighting?! Needless to say, I won't be working with this company and they don't seem to be be interested in new business. read more

Greg and his crew did an outstanding remodel of a unit we purchased at Park Fairfax. He has extensive experience working with the units, understands the innate challenges of old construction (historic properties), and the condo association's regulations. His good reputation made it very easy for us to work with the association's main office for remodeling approvals. Greg also gave us excellent suggestions for flooring, window, and even asbestos abatement contractors. As work progressed, the crew discovered previous work which was not up to code or was VERY badly done (fire hazard bad). They corrected all of those previous inconsistencies and had their work inspected by the City, as required. Greg was responsive to additions we made to the original remodeling plan and addressed any concerns right away. This is a very professional, well-respected contractor with integrity. Greg Drone of Allegro installed two baseboard heaters with a thermostat in my formerly very chilly ground floor condo in Parkfairfax, as well as two closet lights. The new heating system works very well. He arrived with his own "moon suit" and went down into the crawl space to run the wires himself, instead of my having to make arrangements with the condo association (something I wonder if other electricians would do). He also offered to fetch and install my interior storm windows from my storage unit (at no charge). When the weather turned colder a week or so later, he contacted me by email to find out how the heating system was working. Greg was a huge help! My baseboard heater was not working properly in January in the middle of negative degree temps. I called him in the morning on a Friday and he came out that afternoon! He gave me multiple options for fixing my problem and answered unrelated questions about a problem I was having with my oven. He also gave me a better understanding of my condo's electrical layout. He was very friendly, professional and honest (his recommendation to solve my problem didn't give him any extra business!) We randomly lost our heat in the middle of January and while most electricians in the area didn't have availability to come out right away, Greg called back on a Saturday and was here on a Sunday. He was very professional, courteous and helpful. We live in Park Fairfax and since he has serviced quite a few units here, his knowledge of the complex was particularly helpful. While he was here he also helped fix our recessed lighting which had been broken for over a year. Allegro is at the very least a 4 star contractor. I met Greg when he did the electrical work for the contractor who installed my Mitsubishi HVAC. He is knowledgeable, reliable, honest, and very personable. He installed the connect for the HVAC, a GFCI outlet by my back door, an exterior light fixture with inside switch, a wall sconce with switch, a wall receptacle, and lights in two closets. He is a licensed general contractor and also removed my existing through the wall air conditioners and filled in the drywall hole. I found this gentleman to lack integrity and pride in his work. Perhaps he lost it since some of the earlier reviews. We needed just one simple toggle switch. He came to the Fairlington unit unprepared.The replacement switch was located in a double plate and was in close proximity to an existing almond switch. He left and when I called to question, he stated that he no longer stocked almond. I requested that he come back to match the two, and he said that he would call and make the correction without charge because it had been his error. Several days later we had to call him and now there would be a $20 charge for parts. We purchased the toggle switches at Home Depot for $3.00.He still charged for labor. And left small bits of electrical wire and bits of paint and rubber on the floor below where he had worked. This debris was discovered by my cat - fortunately I was able to sweep it away before it harmed her. read more

I had Greg come and fix up my electrical box in Park Fairfax, and he was wonderful.. He showed up exactly when he said he would, was fast with the work, and reasonable with price too... Everything you'd want from your electrical contractor! He also happens to be licensed and highly recommended in the community, and that's really what puts him over the top. I recommend using him as well!!! The negative reviews are ridiculous and in my experience with renovations, repairs, and home building, since my fiancé works in the biz, these people didn't get the answers they wanted and just reviewed negatively to "stick it to the man"... The issues I read were not issues that any other contractor would've handled differently or dealt with in any other way, so don't judge based on those.. In my experience, and from talking to others who have also had work done by Allegro, anything less than 5 stars would be nonsense. read more
