Southwest does not accommodate young travelers/families like other airlines. While they do offer boarding, it's after groups A & B. I'm also used to leaving a car seat at the gate for pickup as soon as we get off. As soon as we entered the plane, I asked the flight attendant if I was fine to leave my car seat there & they agreed. Southwest also has an open seating plan, meaning you don't have an assigned seat, you just pick one once you get in the plane. After we found seats & stowed out bag, they called out on the speaker of whose car seat was at the gate. I raised my hand & they were like why wasn't it checked. I said I confirmed several times it was good to go. I didn't appreciate being belittled by the lady (not sure of her name but she is at the desk in the picture. Had Southwest made their rules & policies about car seats clear, I would have properly followed them. This flight felt chaotic from the time we lined up to board until the plane took off. While I can appreciate the reasonably priced flights during the holiday time, the customer service & family friendly flights are just not what Southwest is about.

To be honest, I was dreading the whole experience because I had heard that Frontier was similar to Allegiant Airlines, a discounted airlines, so my expectations were already low going into it. But I'm happy to report it was not as bad as I expected! First, I booked my one way ticket to Orlando (MCO) from Norfolk (ORF) on the Hopper app. It cost me a total of $92.98 (with Hopper discounts and surcharges). I got the confirmation email from Hopper and a separate confirmation email from Frontier as well. On the day of my flight, I made sure to check-in online before heading to the airport. I arrived 2 hours ahead of my flight as suggested on the ticket. Boarding was around 2:06pm for a flight departing at 2:51pm. Things to note: - Check in online before heading to the airport (read next item). There is a charge for assistance at the airport. You'll also skip the lines. - For this trip, I walked on the plane with my purse and the clothes on my back, no additional items. With the exception of my purse (personal item), there is a charge for every single thing: seat selection, assistance at the airport, checked baggage, drinks/snacks on board) etc. - Seat selection - varying charges for seats with extra leg room, the proximity of seat to the front, etc. I can see the need for paying extra for this charge if you are traveling with small children who need your assistance, separation anxiety from traveling buddy etc. At the time of my online check-in, I just let the system pick for me. Despite the messaging that Hopper/Frontier suggest, not picking a seat does not mean you do not get a seat. I felt a little paranoid that if I didn't buy a seat that I won't get one, but that is not the case. But shouldn't just getting a seat as people check in be the standard instead of trying to make a couple of extra bucks with instilling the fear of not getting the seat you want? - masks are no longer required to fly - They board in their priority sequence. Frontier Rewards members, individuals with disabilities, people traveling with small children etc. - plane was pretty packed and seats weren't very roomy, but hey, that's economy LOL. - flight departed on time (give or take a few minutes due to taxiing position), but the flight itself took less time than quoted on the itinerary - snacks and drinks (even water) is available for sale. I did not purchase anything, but from the looks of the menu, it's all packaged foods like chips and candies and sodas. There is a limited selection. - the flight crew was actually very upbeat and nice. I had no issues with them. For me, this flight served its purpose, cheap and no issues. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. I just feel it's irritating to be met with an option of a "surcharge" at every turn. I just liked the good ol' days when you could check in at the counter with a human, be assigned a seat with the people in your party, a drink and a bag of peanuts with friendly service! I go to ask a employee at the airport and they are extremely rude about everything saying they can't help & i should wait until the Frontier workers come back even tho they were on their last flight for today. Nevertheless, this was my husband and I first time using Spirit and I loved it. The only hiccup, for my husband, the seats did not have enough cushion. Luckily, we traveled from Norfolk to Orlando and then the next day Orlando to Jamaica. Therefore, our flight times were not long at all, but that was his only complaint. Oh no snacks - no free snacks. Just bring your own and you'll be fine! Myself, I have a lot of internal cushion, therefore, the seats were fine for me, but I get his point. Now they offer different seating with extra comfy seats and extra cost. But flying Spirit the goal is to save where you can. Overall, if I have the opportunity to fly with Spirit again, I will. The Delta staff at Norfolk International Airport went above and beyond during an unexpected delay…read more Our flight from New Orleans to JFK had to make a detour and land in Virginia due to ice and snow on the ground, and the aircraft wasn't equipped for such a long delay. The team in Norfolk stepped in immediately, bringing pizza pies and cases of water for everyone on board and making sure passengers were taken care of. The layout makes sense, signage is clear, and I never felt like I was walking forever just to find my gate or get where I needed to go. The airport was also very clean, organized, and surprisingly quiet. It didn't have the hectic or chaotic feeling you get at some larger airports. Everyone I interacted with was polite and friendly, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed. It may not be a huge airport with endless terminals and amenities, but for actually getting in, getting through security, and getting to your flight without a hassle, it does a very good job. Overall, a clean, comfortable, and well-run airport.

When I lived in Virginia Beach, friends and loved ones would fly in/our of Norfolk International. Picking them up and dropping them off was always easy peasy! The airport was always clean, inviting, and had friendly staff top to bottom! My best friend visited from Birmingham and arrived on a Delta flight and we spent probably an hour or more posing in the airport taking photos! Same with my sweet Momma when she visited me for a week! We relaxed, I brought her flowers to meet her at the gate and it was painless to pick her up and to drop her back off, sadly, to say goodbye for her return flight to Huntsville, Alabama. There are two concourses, Concourse A and Concourse B. Concourse B was the concourse my sweet Momma and my dear best friend arrived at. They go back to the time I lived in Atlanta and flew out of Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson International. I've always experienced delayed flight. There have been other times the flight has boarded then sat on the tarmac for over an hour with no water offered. My worst delays were in Philadelphia. My worst tarmac experience was at Chicago O'Hare. Flying from Norfolk International requires taking an American Eagle flight to airports such as Charlotte & Reagan National to change planes. The layout of the Charlotte Airport makes flight changes difficult. I've run from one end of the airport to the other to make my flight. My sister recently came on American and experienced a long delay leaving for Reagan due to activities in DC. This would only be my airline choice for a flight if there were absolutely no other choices available.

This is my first time I booked a flight with United Airlines, and this was almost my last at the same time! Why you ask? Because: My wife and I arrived at the airport at least an hour and a half before our flight boards! We were standing in the checkout line at least an hour just to check our one suitcase in. It came to a point where they said it was too late to check in luggage, what? We were there for at least an hour in line, how can you say that? It's not our fault there was a delay in check in on their behalf... After more than an hour passed and one of the attendants ask who was traveling to Newark, about 10 or maybe more people shouted out! At this point my wife already headed towards the gate to advise them of the delay at check in! So they were able to radio each other about the people including myself that was waiting to check in with luggage!. Finally I get my luggage checked in and I sprint to TSA! ( Luckily I have TSA pre check so I was able to zip through and then sprint again to my boarding gate!. Let me say this is the first time that I have almost missed a flight and I have been flying as long as I can remember! Will I fly again with United Airlines you ask?
