And what do you know, October 2025, the ac showed leaks and with out of compliance refrigerant. I delayed it since it was no longer cooling season. Wanted to make sure that it didn't sit thru a brutal winter for no reason. So I contacted back in early April. He was able to come out on Saturday and finished the A/C replacement in 3 hrs. Arrived on time like he said and gave me updates along the way. He tested and completed. Was not pushy in upselling or whatever. Just good professional work. Invoice was sent via email. And I paid via credit card. Great experience. Very competitive and very responsive to my questions about the changing tech for HVAC these days. I recommend for competitive value, honest information, and easy payment solutions. Good workman ship and detailed oriented.

I was understanding as to the cancellations as we were having a hot summer and I am sure that they were busy with air conditioners... my concern was heat, so I was not in any rush. Yes, waiting once a week for months wasn't ideal, but I wanted the unit repaired. The technician finally arrived in the end of August. Nice guy and he diagnosed the issue without really doing a lot of troubleshooting (the main panel was bad as I suspected all along). They had me sign a contract that specifically says '...Buyer may cancel this transaction at any time prior to the midnight of the third business day after the date of this transaction.' Additionally, I was required to pay a $306 deposit for the repair. I called this morning to cancel as I had already (2 weeks earlier) rodered a mini-split system (I thought keeping the pellet stove would be a good Idea, but thinking it through, not for $1700. The person who answered the phone (a man) asked why I was canceling - I told him why. He then proceeded to tell me that they had already ordered the part. I told him to send it back. He then asked what they were supposed to do with the part. He then stated that my deposit was non-refundable. On the contract, it CLEARLY states 'If you cancel, any property traded in, any payments made by you under the contract ... will be returned within 10 business days. Up until today, all my contacts with this company had been cordial and professional. Once I went to cancel, I got bullied. I don't feel that the cost of replacing a small panel is worth $1700 and seems a bit predatory. I will be reporting this business.

This is my first review, EVER: (Once upon a time we had the Yellow Pages to help us find reputable…read moreservices....Uncle Ted provided reviews!) DeKalb Mechanical has serviced my furnace 3 times in the 6 years since I've owned my home, and this week assisted in a chimney replacement. I chose DeKalb Mechanical because the brand new furnace had been installed by them before my purchase. Andy & Charles have always listened patiently to my frantic description of the problem and sent repair technicians within the day. The techs are consistently courteous and knowledgeable and pretty good about cleaning up after themselves.. The final charge always seems high to me - they're probably competitive - I'm "old", living on a fixed income, and think any service costing more than $200 is too much! I've been particularly crabby these last two weeks when I finally established that my various furnace issues have most likely been related to a roof leak adjacent to the chimney. (Had the roof repaired in 2019!) The first estimate blamed the flashing, and bid $2000 for the flashing and a plywood/shingles replacement. A second estimate with a different roofer found NO issues with the flashing but said there was no cap - estimated charges $400. (I liked the 2nd bid better, but even I could see the flashing was rusted out.) Finally, the first contractor proposed replacing the brick chimney & flashing with a B-vent, requiring the coordinated assistance of my HVAC people - the best estimate was 2 grand for the roofer and not more than $1000 for the furnace folks. My final charges:$2850. I was fuming when I completed the review - assigning only 2 stars. (I've spent thousands of $ on roof repair and furnace servicing and the leak was probably present before I bought the home!) But that is NOT THEIR FAULT!! Before the ink could dry on my review Nathan, DeK Mech's man that oversaw the project, was at my door to find out what he (they) did wrong! Nothing. They did nothing wrong. They did it ALL RIGHT. Arrived an hour before originally scheduled, performed their work efficently and worked as a team with the roofers. I'll be calling DeKalb Mechanical this fall before I start the furnace for the season. Keeping my fingers crossed!

BEWARE!!! This company and this man Fernando Carrasco are a scam. Looks like he was scamming people…read moredoing HVAC work. Now he scams them doing cement work. I found this previous HVAC work through looking up Lucid Design and Development under the company's phone number 847-602-9411. He also does concrete work under Uribe Concrete & Epoxy. I hired the owner Fernando Carrasco and his partner Lupe Uribe for a concrete sidewalk in April 2025. I put a down payment down by check for $1,230 on a $4,100 job and they did no work at all and never came back. Months of texts and emails were not answered. Finally, when they were answered, there were just excuses. After getting the police involved, I was given half of the money back 9 months later. A detailed list of bogus charges was withheld, all while doing zero work at all. I got about half of my down payment back. Fernando and Lupe are liars, and very dishonest people and you should avoid their services, whether it's cement, HVAC, or just pure honesty. It is a shame he is allowed to run a company. As of April 2026, I still do not have the rest of my money back. BEWARE of these two men from Lucid Design and development, 4111 W. Alexander Blvd. Elmhurst, IL 60126 aka Uribe Concrete & Epoxy. Other known addresses you may find on the internet: 7430 W. 64th St., Summit, IL 60501, 190 S. WoodDale Rd, WoodDale, IL 60191. Phone number for company is 847-602-9411. He couldn't get it right with HVAC work and certainly can't get it right with cement work. I hope this review helps someone. If I happen to get my money back, I will update this review accordingly.

(This was my original message....read below for the update)…read moreThe quality of work is A+. So why the low rating? I bought a LivingSocial deal for $69 and the deal says: Air Duct Cleaning for Unlimited Vents, Main Line, and Dryer Vent, Plus a Furnace Inspection. Fernando insisted that "Air Duct Cleaning" was their name. I ended up paying over $350 for a whole house (unlimited) duct cleaning (air duct cleaning!!). Wasn't THAT the deal for $69?? Ask anyone, even $350 + $69 is an EXCELLENT deal for duct cleaning and I understand it's a lot of work. They were at our house for over 4 hours, BUT...clarify that on the voucher. I looked at the small print too...no mention of this. I wrote that message above before I tried to correct things through Living Social. Living Social said they said they charged me an "additional fee" because of the way my ducts were routed. So I told LS: Now I REALLY know they're not on the level. They NEVER mentioned anything about how the vents were routed. It's not like they're in spirals. The LivingSocial deal was $69. They charged me an additional $364 to do exactly what it said on the LivingSocial deal: Air Duct Cleaning for Unlimited Vents, Main Line, and Dryer Vent, Plus a Furnace Inspection Now, an "additional fee", for example, is what they charged me to CLEAN the furnace. That was $40. I understand that logic. My complaint is that the title of the deal is: Air Duct Cleaning for unlimited vents. They charged me $9.50/vent to clean then an additional $2/vent to sanitize. I may be $.50 off here on one of those estimates. How is that for " unlimited vents"? I could even see the $2 being an "additional fee". Not the $9.50/vent. I had over 27 vents in the house! I figured that would be incorporated in the "unlimited". Again, when I showed the salesman the deal from Living Social, he insisted that "Air Duct Cleaning" was their name. I said I thought it was Breathe Clean Solutions. He said "Yes, and we do air duct cleaning." Saying it as though he was being condescending.
