The icing on the cake for me was when two other customers, overhearing that I was new to the area, voluntarily came over to me to tell me how long they had been coming here and what I good decision I had made to bring my car here! Prior to stalling, the truck had been jerking, sputtering during acceleration, and losing power while driving. After evaluating the truck, I was told the spark plugs needed to be replaced. I approved the repair and paid $509.19. I was then told the truck was fixed. Unfortunately, shortly after leaving, the exact same issue happened again. The truck began sputtering and completely died near Friendship Road and I985, creating a dangerous situation in traffic and resulting in another emergency tow that cost me an additional $300. I returned the truck and explained that the issue was still occurring. However, because the truck happened to start for them during testing, I was told they could not replicate the problem and did not know what was wrong. I specifically asked about fuel system concerns because the symptoms felt fuel related, but no diagnosis was made beyond the spark plugs. At that point, I no longer trusted the truck to be safe to drive and took it directly across the street to Christian Brothers Automotive Buford for a second opinion. Shortly after arriving there, the truck stalled again while they were attempting to move it into the service bay. Because the failure occurred while connected to diagnostics, they were able to pull active fault codes indicating issues with the fuel pump and fuel pump control module. I ultimately authorized approximately $2,000 in repairs for the actual problem. In retrospect, the spark plug replacement appears to have been more of a guess at the problem than an actual diagnosis, especially considering the symptoms remained exactly the same immediately afterward and the real issue turned out to be fuel system related. To be fair, intermittent mechanical issues can be difficult to diagnose, and the staff was polite throughout the process. However, I am disappointed that I spent over $500 on repairs that did not address the issue at all, followed by another breakdown and tow immediately after being told the vehicle was fixed. Given the safety risk involved with a vehicle stalling in traffic, I expected a more thorough diagnostic process before being told the truck was repaired.

There was no hesitation in there response and they looked into it on the spot, no reservation. Initially thought it was the drivers side tire since there clearly was a nail in it, nope. Pulled out the nail, checked for leaks, all good. Ian didn't stop there, he found nails on 3 of my 4 tires and finally found where the pressure was leaking. They could of used this to there advantage and charge for another tire.. Nope, was pleasantly surprised to hear, "that can be patched" and at no cost. Customer service at there finest! Ian and Mike got me back on the road... You don't see genuine care these days and to have it here at Mavis makes me come back to this spot regardless where I am! Mavis, if you are reading this, give those two a raise! Seriously... Spoke to manager store..... then regional manager...... Was told Mavis would reimburse me since I had pictures as well as documentation from TWO other mechanics.....four weeks later. Nothing. I have not exhausted all options other than going to small claims court which is very discouraging because I am not that type of person. When we took it to a dealership they said that we need a new engine and the warranty company wouldn't pay for it because they had already sent the supposed parts to be fixed the first time around. (Which was not true) I decided to call Hometown tire and speak with the owner, Brad and let him know my situation and get some clarity on what exactly it was they did to fix my car. From the moment I spoke with him I think he could tell that I was drained and upset about my vehicle and before the conversation was over he made me understand clearly that he was on my side and he wanted to do as much as he could to help me get out of the situation that I was in. not only did he hear my story he is working with the dealer who sold me the vehicle and they decided to step up and the dealer bought me an engine for my vehicle, had it shipped out here. So then Brad (hometown tire)also stepped up and is and they're replacing the engine for me free of charge. FOLKS HE IS LITERALLY TAKING MY ENGINE OUT AND PUTTING ANOTHER ONE IN FREE OF CHARGE!!!!! Brad reminded me that he's about helping people and that it was the christian thing to do. I was speechless. Never in my life have I experienced such a thing. So if you live in Walton County or your just passing through and you need your car looked at, you can trust Hometown Tire to take care of you and your vehicle. WARNING -- SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD -- ZERO STARS…read more I brought my 1965 Chevrolet Impala (a classic collector vehicle) to Mavis Tires & Brakes in Hoschton, GA around May 1, 2026 for a complete suspension job. They also installed brand new Goodyear General tires at the same time. I paid approximately $1,800-$2,000 for this work. Less than 500 MILES later I noticed my tires were toeing out and feathering badly. I put the vehicle on a lift and was absolutely shocked at what I found: -- Tie rod sleeve on driver side LOOSE with STRIPPED OUT nuts and bolts -- Outer tie rod bushing on passenger side DAMAGED -- Both upper ball joint bushings on BOTH sides DAMAGED -- Sway bar bolt on passenger side BUSTED -- Brand new Goodyear General tires DESTROYED from severe feathering The steering was so loose the vehicle darted from one side of the road to the other. This vehicle was NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. At highway speed I could have lost complete steering control and caused a serious or fatal accident -- not just to myself but to every other driver on the road. I took the vehicle to a second reputable shop who confirmed every single finding AND discovered additional problems Mavis created. That shop tightened the sleeves and made the vehicle road worthy enough to drive home -- AND THEY DID IT ALL FOR FREE. A shop that had absolutely nothing to do with this situation showed more professionalism, integrity, and decency than Mavis who took my $1,800-$2,000 and left me with a dangerously unsafe classic vehicle. I have photos, video, and written documentation of all defects. I have witnesses. The repairs are STILL NOT FULLY RESOLVED. I am now demanding full compensation from Mavis corporate to have this work completed correctly at a shop of my choosing. I will NEVER allow Mavis Hoschton to touch my vehicle again. When I brought this to Mavis attention the assistant manager was dismissive, questioned why I was just bringing it in, and showed complete indifference to a serious safety hazard that his shop created. Mavis took zero responsibility and offered nothing. IF THIS IS NOT PROPERLY RESOLVED THEY WILL BE SPEAKING TO MY ATTORNEY. I HAVE PHOTOS, VIDEO, DOCUMENTATION, AND WITNESSES. Do NOT bring your vehicle -- especially a classic or collector car -- to this location. What Mavis Hoschton did to my irreplaceable 1965 Impala was negligent, dangerous, and could have been fatal.
