Being a Canadian it is always exciting to check out the local shops when traveling. I made an extra effort to get to this store and was happy I did. The shop is very welcoming and has a great cross section of trading cards sport and non. Whatever your flavor new/old wax/singles/boxes, they have it.....Hockey is my main objective and I managed to acquire a few new pieces of Vintage cardboard. I was questioning driving from North County to Santee for my son to look at some football cards...not knowing if we were even going to buy. Once we walked in I knew this was the place. Very happy I drove to All Star Cards! We were blown away at how much of a surplus there was. We walked out with a box of incredible cards and my son was so pleased. On the way home my son realized he had a 1 of 1 cracked ice autograph! Definitely a place to go for sports cards! Very friendly staff. read more

My first time into this sports card shop, and it was great! I felt like a kid in a candy store. We made the drive up from Oceanside, and as soon as you enter the store, it's hard to focus your eyes on one item, there is so much to look at. Fair prices and tons of card protector items. I could spend all day in here looking through cards. The guy and lady were very mellow, and dont rush you, they allow you to take your time. Picked up some chargers and boxing cards to add to my PC, along with a baseball and card holder for my Ken caminiti auto. Walked in today and started off with not being greeted so I already felt a weird vibe. I then ask if they were looking into buying cards and I tell the old guy what I had he then interrupted me and said "why would I buy all that they're dirt cheap" one of the products I was looking to sell came out this week and it is not dirt cheap at all so I don't know what he was talking about. I just don't think that's the right way to treat a customer In general. I'm leaving and the guy had the door opened a certain way but I just wanted to leave so I didn't care to leave the door the way it was since I felt like I was treated badly and he said something to me as I was leaving but decided not to pay attention to it because I knew an argument would start. He then comes running out and says "just because you're mad you don't have to leave like that we're not even open" but on the yelp and maps it states that it is open at 9am which I said and he pointed to the door. If they weren't open why didn't he just say that to begin with?? I then tell he should update it on the internet and he then says "don't ever come back". Yea I wouldn't go in there to buy anything in there anyways considering how overpriced everything is. I don't know if this dude was the owner or whatever and if he was dude racist or something. Theres only a handful of sports cards stores in sd area, and all of them have great service and reasonable prices. That being said this place is on the top of my list. It's gotta be the biggest store in sd, they have lots of selection. They don't have that much memorabilia (check out CJ'S in poway), but they have a great selection of hobby boxes. They even carry pokemon or whatever those cards are; if thats what youre in to. The father and daughter that work there are really nice and friendly. I always get a discount when I pay for my stuff. For me this place is worth the drive from south bay. read more

Stumbled onto this place by accident when I was driving by and saw the Baseball Cards sign. You can't really see it from the main road and it looks almost boarded up/closed. Went in and was really happy to find a HUGE selection of Magic the Gathering cards. They also have tons of baseball cards, football, pokemon old, new, you name it. I was very impressed the prices were not the usual "gouge" prices that I would expect to find in a shop like this. Fat Packs were essentially the same as buying from Amazon, without the shipping. By far the best card shop in San Diego! One of those old school shops where you become like family after a few visits. Jerry the owner tries to act like a grumpy old man at times but he can only sustain that so long before you realize he is just messing with you. His prices are tough to beat unless you have access to the distributors yourself. Then there is his daughter Michelle which is where the true customer service comes from. She is a sweetheart but yet one of the guys. If you have a request she does her best to try and fulfill it. One of the most important things about the shop though is the integrity. They don't let the customer handle the packs directly which prevents searchers from finding the hits. Also, if they know some of the big hits have already been found from an open box, they usually open another box and mix in the product to give the person a shot at something good as well. read more

I'm not one for writing Yelp reviews but I've got to give credit where credit is due! This shop is the BEST I've ever been to. They're both knowledgeable and helpful! I'm not a collector, but my fiancé is CONSTANTLY collecting and (not knowing nearly as much as him) I can count on Jerry or Michelle to give me great recommendations as to which boxes to buy for my fiancé when I need to buy him a gift. Of course he also spends a fair amount of time in there buying for himself and his family, so we love our visits to this shop. The atmosphere is great...I love visiting with them and hearing the fellow customers talk about which amazing hits came from which type of box! Excellent shop. I've been patronizing All Star since I was a kid. They have always been helpful to me through the years. They are the prototype for mom and pop shops (father & daughter actually), because they will chat you up, learn your name and recognize you when you come back. I love shopping here! Been coming to this store since I was 7 for pokemon card, then yugioh, and now magic. Their prices are way better than target or walmart plus you're supporting a small business! All of their prices already include tax so as long as you can do basic math your are good. They are also super friendly and helpful, they will spend as much time with you that you need to make sure that you are satisfied. When you buy packs they will let you choose which ones right from the box even if you want to dig to the bottom. I got here for all my card needs and it's always nice to catch up with them as you're shopping. If you could give more than 5 stars I would! read more

I had heard about this place on a few hobby forums, and all the great reviews were spot on! Great store, great selection, and even better customer service! My son and I collect football only, and they had anything and everything you could possibly want! Jerry and his daughter were great, and the prices were more than fair! We ended up buying a few football hobby boxes (which we did GREAT with), and some supplies. This is our new store to do business with! Great value on yugioh packs of a wide variety, 15$ tins (you'll never find them cheaper anywhere else), and they have older special editions. However some days you need to plan according to thier hours. Best visited on a weekday since its quieter than weekends. read more

Though I have only been to this sports card shops a handful of times, I have always gotten something out of every purchase. The shop is owned by a Father/Daughter team and together know a large amount of information about the hobby. The store is full of Baseball, Football, Racing, Basketball cards and more. I collect hockey cards, which is not in large demand in southern California, but they do have the biggest selection of hockey cards in the greater San Diego area and at wallet-friendly prices. I have received numerous signature and relic cards numbered out of 10 as well as a 1/1 Black Mirror Chris Stewart Patch card from 10/11 Panini Certified that have been pulled from the packs I have purchased. The store also participates in many card manufacturer's contests and promotions and are always happy to provide information on how to participate. The shop is large and full of cards for everyone's tastes and budget. I fully recommend this shop for everyone interested in getting into the hobby or who is looking to reacquaint themselves with card collecting. read more

These guys have pretty cheap prices, and have a huge selection of cards from all kinds of different sports. I collect Nascar cards for the most part, and I thought they wouldn't have any, because Nascar is not too big here, but shure enough they had a pretty large selection of nascar boxes and packs, and they were REALLY cheap, I would reccomend this for any Trading card collector near this area. read more
