We are very pleased with the process and results. The house looked nice before the event, and it looks even better now and was reconstructed with consideration to FEMA guidelines should flooding reoccur. Corolla had 31 inches of rain from three major rain events in September and October 2016. We had a few inches of water on the first level after the second major rain event. I called BR, and they promptly were in the house to assess the damage. They rapidly did the deconstruction after the water receded and started drying the exterior walls. The wood was also treated with a biocide to retard microbial growth. My wife and I were at the house for Hurricane Matthew, and we had additional water intrusion to a level higher than the first event. BR promptly did a second drying. The first level was reconstructed with consideration given to materials and recommendations found in FEMA guidelines for homes that may be in a flood hazard area. Our house is X zone and not in a flood hazard, but 31 inches of rain saturated the ground and the runoff from subtle terrain elevation changes flooded several homes where we are. The house looks great and is better constructed to handle future events. This is always a very stressful situation for any homeowner. Bluewater Restoration made the process less stressful through their courtesy and professionalism. We are very pleased with the process and results. BR personnel are great to work with, and we highly recommend Bluewater Restoration. [Edit: I have no idea why Yelp posted my location as San Francisco. My wife and I are in MA.]

They said they could do that and would come by to look over the fireplace and talk about options. The guy arrived about on time, but looked like he slept in the truck. His clothes were a shambles and were covered with dog hair. That on its own was not the main issue. He came in took measurements of the fireplace, looked up the chimney, went outside to look down the chimney with two different drones. Neither one worked. So, then he told us we needed to have the flue treated with a sealant. Did we want him to do that now? And it would cost aboutt 300 bucks. We said forget it. Then. We asjpked about which fireplace insets would work, and he said he would have to talk to his boss And he would call us back. He then presented us with a bill for $195 for the "inspection". He was there a total of 20 minutes, never did see down the flue and had no knowledge about fireplace inserts... Never got a call back. Do NOT hire this company! UPDATE Our previous review was Replied to by the company and listed as fake. Not true. For some reason the review was listed in VA. the real place was Bath NC. and the date was March 7th. Heat Pump Service Issue and Billing Concern…read more Background In September 2024, I purchased two new heat pumps from R.A. Hoy. Since I am retired and spend most of my time at home, I do not need to adjust the temperature frequently. Specifically, the unit in question serves the upstairs area, which I rarely visit during the day. Discovery of the Issue In February 2026, I received a service message on my thermostat for the upstairs unit. Upon checking the unit through my app, I discovered that it had been running continuously, 24 hours a day, since mid-November 2025 up until the present date in February 2026. Service Call and Diagnosis I contacted R.A. Hoy for service. The technician identified that the unit was only producing 70-degree air and was one pound low on refrigerant. I also have 2 inspections each year that were reported as good. Electric Bill Concerns Because my electric bill is automatically paid from my bank account and has remained consistent for over 10 years, I had not been monitoring it closely. However, after realizing the heat pump had been running non-stop, I reviewed my bills and noticed an increase of over $100 per month starting from when the unit failed in November 2025. My electric bill is normally lower in the winter as my gas furnace heat my home when temperature is 40 degrees or lower. Concerns Regarding the Repair and Warranty I received a bill from R.A. Hoy for the refrigerant. I believe that, since the leak appears to be a result of the initial installation, I should not be responsible for this charge. Additionally, if this leak is not properly addressed, it is likely to recur annually. However, I was informed that because the issue arose more than a year after installation, it is not covered under the warranty.

Although they were booked for the day, they said they would try to get a technician to my home within a few hours to diagnose the issue. Within 30-minutes, I received a text message from them indicating that Anthony, their technician, was on the way. A short time later Anthony arrived and got right to work at diagnosing the problem. After testing my outside unit and thermostat, Anthony identified the issue as a compressor failure on my heat pump. Fortunately, since this unit was only fourteen months old, the compressor was under warranty and a replacement part was available at no cost, although I would have to pay for the labor to install it. About thirty-minutes following the service call I received an email providing me with a written estimate of the cost to install the compressor. The estimate seemed to be a bit excessive to me so I called to discuss it with them. Upon doing so I was told that the estimates they provide are based on the "worse-case scenario," and that the actual cost would most likely be significantly less. They explained that their estimate assumed I would need the system's full capacity of new refrigerant, but most likely that the refrigerant in my system could be drained, saved, and then reinstalled once the compressor was replaced. That alone made the cost about $700 less than the estimate, and that made a lot of sense to me. Accordingly, I accepted their estimate and scheduled a service call to install the new compressor once it arrived two days later. When the date of installation arrived, I received a text-notification at 9AM that Chris from AirHandlers was on the way and would arrive within 30-minutes. A short time later, Chris arrived and got strait to work. The entire process to install the replacement compressor took about two hours. Following installation, Chris did a thorough check of the system to ensure everything was working within the system's specifications, and he provided me with a copy of the detailed report. Chris, who has extensive experience in HVAC systems of over 20-years, also provided me with some recommendations to improve my system's performance further by modifying duct work to increase air flow. Based on his experienced recommendations, I will be contracting AirHandlers in the very near future to perform this work. Following the work they performed, I received a bill by e-mail a few days later. The final bill was within the estimate they provided, and because the work did not require any additional refrigerant, it was substantially less--exactly as they had told me. I am very impressed with the technical competence, timely response to my needs, and the friendly and professional customer service they provided. In addition, they offer an annual service plan that is a great value, which I intend to purchase in January. I highly recommend AirHandlers to anyone in need of HVAC services. A+++
