My friend and her family do not speak good English (they understand the language, but not comfortable speaking), and my friend's grandmother is suffering with terminal stage of lung cancer. My friend and her family all work full-time, and have difficulty taking care of grandma. I suggested them to seek help from hospice care. I was personally researching and calling different hospice care providers for inquiry. I found Good Heart Hospice via Google, and I left a message via their website at 9 pm on a Saturday. Surprisingly, someone got back to me in less than half an hour! I asked lots of questions, and the representative was super patient with me. I did not expect such prompt responds and great customer services. My friend and I decided to go with Good Heart Hospice. There were days that grandma was coughing and complaining about having sharp pain in the middle of the night (2 am). I called them (feeling super bad as I hate to disturb other people's beauty sleep), and asked them what we should do. The representative said that a nurse would come to my friend's home and assess the situation (I was thinking, really? In the middle of the night?). In about 20 minutes, a nurse go to my friend's place and assessed grandma. I did not know what the nurse did as I have no medical knowledge, but I saw the nurse speaking to grandma with a gentle voice. In about half an hour, grandma felt asleep without coughing or complaining about having pain. I am glad that my friend and I chose to go with Good Heart Hospice as we know that grandma is being taken care of. The Oasis office staff interviewed us to find out our needs and to match caregiver personalities with my mother's. We immediately felt we could trust them. At first, there were two who weren't good matches, but within about two weeks, Oasis had set us up with three absolutely fantastic caregivers. They are kind, hard-working women, and enjoyable to be around, which is very important since they spend a lot of time with my mother. They help her with tasks around the house and are nearby to be sure she is safe as she goes about her activities. The day caregiver drives her to the grocery store, hair and nail salons, and various other appointments. They also help with baking, watch TV with her in the evening, and have interesting conversations. Overall, they have given her independence and have given the family peace of mind that someone is with her to look out for her health and safety.

She didn't miss a thing and once we were signed up I felt great relief knowing I had this company on board to walk me through this process. I called on a Monday, the nurse Amanda came to assess mom that afternoon and we had approval for services within an hour. By the next morning all sorts of equipment was delivered; it was amazing how quickly they worked. The next day Juliet the RN came and checked out mom. Both nurses were so kind and gentle with my mom. Juliet went over the transitioning signs and other information that was very helpful to me in knowing what to expect. She spent a lot of time with me, I never felt rushed; Juliet's care was genuine. Communication was top notch; I received text notifications every time Juliet was going to come by. Both Juliet and Joyce the social worker arrived within minutes of my mom transitioning and it was so comforting to have them here. I asked if she knew any details surrounding my brother's transition. She didn't know. That was fine, but I did want to know. My only request was that she follow up with the group home that he was in and ask if anyone could supply her with any details. She agreed to call me back when she found out. About month later, I received a call from a bereavement counselor. She asked if there was anything I needed. I told her I was still wondering what the circumstances were surround my brother's death. She said she would follow up and get back to me. It's now been over two months and nothing. I've worked with other hospice services for both of my parents. My experience with that hospice service was excellent. They were very responsive and kept up great communications. They called regularly for months after my parents passed to just check in. With Calstro, I asked two people for one thing and they couldn't be bothered.
