Unique Hospice has been wonderful from the moment I called them to the death of my mother and after. Vanessa who answered the phone answered all my questions and got back to me in a timely fashion. She didn't miss a thing and once we were signed up I felt great relief knowing I had this company on board to walk me through this process. I called on a Monday, the nurse Amanda came to assess mom that afternoon and we had approval for services within an hour. By the next morning all sorts of equipment was delivered; it was amazing how quickly they worked. The next day Juliet the RN came and checked out mom. Both nurses were so kind and gentle with my mom. Juliet went over the transitioning signs and other information that was very helpful to me in knowing what to expect. She spent a lot of time with me, I never felt rushed; Juliet's care was genuine. Communication was top notch; I received text notifications every time Juliet was going to come by. Both Juliet and Joyce the social worker arrived within minutes of my mom transitioning and it was so comforting to have them here. I had interviewed other hospice companies in the past and while the people I met with were nice, they felt a bit fake. I did not feel this way about Unique Hospice. Their attention and care is real and very respectful. I highly recommend Unique Hospice to walk through this difficult time with you. I have used a couple other hospice companies with other family members. Unique Hospice stands out the best from my first call to Vanessa made me feel very comfortable and I knew right away. I made the right decision from the first visit with Ness was absolutely wonderful when I saw her how she treated my loved one as family and the compassion she had for her Jen was awesome also. Joyce the social worker always checked in and made sure we were doing OK but also checked in with our loved one that was dying of cancer these women are a great team. Recently had a family member placed under hospice care with this company. It was a new experience, so didn't really know what to expect. For the most part things went well, when we needed items to be replenished they did so with a bit of pushback at times but we received them promptly nonetheless. The care from the home health aide and LVN were for the most part great, no complaints there! Thorough and helpful by nature. One concern was the RN that made it a habit on more then one occasion to have my family member clean out their own ostomy bag even though my family member was bed bound and would not be able to properly clean their hands afterwards. I will be reporting said nurse to the appropriate agency. Only other disappointment was after my family members passing, no real attempt was made by their counselor or staff to help with the grieving process which seemed like such a harsh disconnection. read more

Nurses and Aides that come to assist are wonderful. The problem was discharge and office staff. I felt we were kicked to the curb. On Xmas eve, I received a call that my mom was being discharged from Hospice. A few days later, a received a text, saying they will be picking up their bed, hoyer lift, and all equipment inn 2 weeks and that I had better start working on finding a replacement bed ! The supplies and meds stopped and I had to ask multiple times to receive them. No nurse came to visit either during the week of Xmas. I was promised they would help with transitioning from Hospice care, that didn't happen. The Home Health Agency they gave me the number to, never heard of my mom's name and said they didn't help with obtaining any equipment needed. In the end, after complaining to the owner, I did receive meds and a bulk of supplies right before discharge. The owner did offer to comp me the medical equipment for 2 more weeks to allow me to get our own. The damage was done though. My trust was gone. My stress level was off the charts. I had to obtain everything on my own, including the Home Health Agency that would help. I am wiser now and will not be calling them when my mom declines again. read more

I was so fortunate to have Unique Hospice care for my sister at the end of her life. From the first phone call with Vanessa I felt supported. Anytime I called, Vanessa or Aimee were there for me. Nurses Vanessa and Jennifer would visit often and Jeni, the bathing aide, would give a bed bath twice a week. It made me smile that she would hunt for the prettiest and most colorful linens and blankets when changing the bed. Choosing hospice care is a big family decision. So glad we opted for Unique Hospice. The operation is based locally and when you call for assistance, you get familiar voices on the phone. (You're not dialing into a massive call center.) Our nurse, Cassandra, was very knowledgeable, skilled and professional in what she does and I can tell how passionate she is in providing the best care to my grandma. The office staff was always there with all my questions and concerns I had regarding my mom. They were so patient and kind every time I called and it never made me feel like a bother. They always had the answer or would get back to me if research was required. I would like to thank the nurses for the visits and the weekly reports on her condition in a professional, yet cheerful manner. Recently a nurse notified me of a "change in condition" in my mom's health. During a visit I noticed she appeared to be struggling and in pain. The nurse practitioner Doris is director, of nursing on top of every detail with the goal of making sure Unique's services contribute to my quality of life and dignity. They contract with a pharmacy that delivers. Nurses are on-call 24/7. The medical director focuses on palliative care and hospice. He also makes house calls! When my 93-year-old grandfather had a major stroke, I was blindsided by all of the responsibilities that suddenly befell me. After a terrible experience with another local hospice, Unique was recommended to me. I will admit I was wary about the amount of support I would receive, but I couldn't have felt more comfortable with the team that was assigned to us. They made it clear they were going to be available to us at any time of the day. I was pleased with the nursing care that was provided. The nurses were gentle, compassionate and reliable. The owner is involved in the business and obviously cares about his delivery of service. My grandfather was treated with dignity while he was alive, but his body was also treated with respect in death. Regardless of the fact that we did both catch covid, the nurses showed up for their daily check ins with full PPE. The social worker is invested in what she does for the company. I love family owned businesses like this and I cannot say enough good things about Unique. If you choose any other hospice you are making a mistake! I don't have enough words to say about the care my grandmother received from Unique hospice. I'm someone that has a question for everything and with each question I was greeted with love any care. My grandmother was under their hospice care for 5 months and I'm forever grateful for each of the staff that worked with my grandmother. Jeni gave the best bed baths to my grandmother. She was so patient and caring not to mention the sweetest lady. Stacie and Cassandra, the two Lvn's that worked with my grandmother revived so many calls from me. I never once felt like a bother. Can't say enough about the tremendous care my mother-in-law received from the wonderful people at Unique Hospice - especially my contact Avraham. They are smart, professional, kind and proactive. I never had to nudge them as they were always a step ahead of me in anticipating her needs. Having them for advice in end-of-life issues was invaluable. Hospice is a godsend and in this day and age of subpar healthcare I almost don't get it. Having Unique Hospice as part of our team was like having doctors who make house calls!! They made all the decisions about the equipment my MIL required and it magically appeared within a day. Avraham is a superb communicator and he and Doris (the fantastic nurse) were constantly e-mailing (my preferred means of communication) to update me. And I'd walk in and find their on-site medical staff lovingly bathing and caring for my MIL as though for a family member. Not only were they the ones to notice medical issues that I did not, Avraham was actually the person who called me at 3 a.m. to let me know my MIL had passed. i was searching for a hospice for my 92 years old mom who has severe dementia. i spent a lot of time reading about different companies who provide service in the san gabriel valley area. after picking 3, i started the interviewing process. i was so impressed with vanessa on the phone, who tirelessly answered all my questions, and set up the NP visit at my home promptly. my husband and i were even more impressed with the professionalism and warmth NP adi who did a quick, but thorough check up on my mother, i decided to sign with them immediately. the following day, the visiting RN geo performed the routine check up; he was a kind, gentle young man who made my mom so comfortable, she had no problem cooperating! it has been 9 days since we signed up with unique hospice service. we also found and moved mom into an assistant living home with unique's help. i was in constant communications with them every day, including weekends. everyone was always professional, pleasant and a problem solver. i am so pleased with the nurse, geo, i request that he would be assigned to take care of mom on the 3 weekly visits at the assistant living! unique hospice and all the people working there were real angles to me and my family during this most difficult time dealing with the last days of mom. they made me feel at peace, because i know mom is in great care! thank you! read more

I wanted to update my review since my dad passed away a few weeks ago. I'm so glad our family chose Unique. Although I don't think death is ever easy, my dad's death was as peaceful as I think it could be. The nurses were exactly right about how much pain medication was needed to ensure that my dad was comfortable all the way until the end. I am so grateful for enrolling my grandfather under Hospice with Unique Hospice and Palliative Care. He was able to spend the last few months of his life at home with his family without having to go to the ER or Hospital.
