The tech they sent spent an hour looking around, trying to find the problem. He said he couldn't solve it but we still got charged $411. He said he would have to send someone else. Any estimate for the job? No - he couldn't even make an estimate. When I called Adam, he said they would send a more experienced tech. Why not send someone qualified the first time? What about the charge for showing up and not doing anything? "That's our normal fee?" So, will we be charged for a new estimate? "It's still $250 to show up." Really? I told him we didn't want them anymore and we would like at least a partial refund. He agreed to a refund of $125, but the refund didn't come. I called again and he said they had a miscommunication. Now it would be sent. Still no refund ... We found a new person, a handyman - he said it was challenging, but he found the broken connection and he only charged us $250. Mirsky? Never again ...

Pure Power also has great design sense and provided recommendations on placement. Work was of the highest quality and completed very quickly. Pricing is reasonable. Karlin is very thoughtful and a great communicator. Pure Power will always be my go-to electrician going forward. I'm so glad my general contractor strongly recommended Pure Power as their primary electrician.

He acted professionally, and he even let me watch him install the new breakers. My only minor concern is he only hand tightened the screws "good and tight", instead of tightening them according to the 36(inch pounds) specification that was written on the breaker installation instructions, and on the new breakers themselves, when he installed the new breakers. Karlin said that this is the common practice among electricians and that very few, if any, bother to follow the inch pound torque standard when tightening circuit breakers. Also, it would have required use of a special expensive inch pound torque wrench that must undergo annual inspection and certification. (What a pay cut! Ouch!) These facts for now allay my concern enough that I can see myself hiring this firm again to do electrical work for me in the future. I say this especially since Karlin was an easy person to work with.

As the price was too good, I called the company to confirm the quote was accurate. I explained the issue to the receptionist again over the phone, and she told me it's gonna be quoted price for sure. On the day of the appointment, the electrician told me the $79 was just the trip fee, and the actual cost to fix the problem was going to be another $169. I told him my communication with the receptionist over the phone, but he simply said a receptionist can't quote for him and when I rejected the price, he left. I then called the company to talk with the receptionist about the incidence, she flat out denied ever telling me the price was $79. UPDATE: after putting up this review, I called the company again, telling them I have the screenshots of their " flat rate" quote. The company asked me to send them a photo of the screenshot and they will investigate and get back to me.I did. I didn't hear back until today, seeing bel-Red's unapologetic response below. I am downgrading my review from 2 stars to 1 star ONE MORE UPDATE: I noticed Bel-Red says there's a "previous communication "CANned" I am not sure what that means, but this is the whole communication I got. If he can provide any communication indicating this is only the trip with a post date earlier than this communication, I would love to see it.

I was extremely satisfied with my end-to-end experience with Merv Electric. I had, what I would…read moreconsider, a large project to modernize a 30-year old, 6000+ sq ft home. We wanted to: 1) wire a new home theater with a 7.2 configuration, 2) add 7 wall mounted TV locations throughout the house, 3) hard wire smoke detectors up to current code, 4) network a home office, 5) neatly organize the central networking cabinet and 5) new lines out to the utility. At the last minute, we also decided to add new can lights to 3 of our bedrooms. Pasha and his team took care of everything and I would hire them again in a heartbeat! As others have noted, when you call, you get a prompt response from an electrician. Pasha came over, met with me to discuss the details, and sent me an itemized estimate with detailed descriptions. This was great because it ensured we were aligned on the scope. For a project with as many action items as mine, this was extremely useful. Once we were able to come to an agreement on the scope, price, and materials I would provide, he was able to get me on the schedule. The work was phenomenal. They were able to run all the wiring through the attic to each of the locations. Some of it was a bit tricky because of the complex roof structure with lots of cables, but they were still able to make all the runs clean end-to-end. They ran new networking, new speaker wires, and new power runs separately to minimize interference. In retrospect, I valued the conversations about which materials (e.g. smoke detectors, lights, networking cabinet hardware, etc.) would be better for me to provide instead of Pasha picking them out for me. These are often up to personal taste and preferences, so it not only reduced cost, but it also made it easier for me to get what I wanted. I was also very particular about what I was expecting. I had a vision of what I wanted everything to look like once it was done. In addition, the existing low-voltage wiring in the house was a mess (some through the attic, some through the crawlspace, it was a maze...) and I definitely was looking for something much better. Pasha communicated well, providing status updates and discussed with me how they were handling particularly challenging runs. Pasha also responded well to questions and feedback and started to anticipate my questions and adjusted his execution plan according. Pasha and his whole team definitely delivered! They were hard working, detail-oriented, and delivered great customer service, which was visible every step of the way. If you're looking for a solid electrician, I think you'd be hard pressed to find one better than Pasha and his team!
