Looked at the work I wanted done, explained the options, made a recommendation and explained why that was the best way to go. The work itself was top notch, and done with an eye not just on getting it done now, but also making it last. It was obvious that this gentleman understands that a craftsman is known by the quality of the finished product. Went the extra mile to make sure the work was done right, and even took the time to explain the operation of the equipment and share tips on how to keep it running in good condition after he was gone. Cleaned up the work area when the job was complete, to a degree that if you hadn't seen the work BEING done, you wouldn't know any work HAD been done - which is exactly what you want most of the time for plumbing service. Prices were extremely reasonable, especially when considering the level of service received. If you want the best service available, call Advocate. Avoid Hometown Heroes…read more I have now had two separate experiences with this company where I was quoted an enormous replacement job, only to have the problem resolved for a fraction of the cost. The first was my AC. I was told I needed an entirely new system and was quoted thousands of dollars. Thankfully, I called my dad, who is a contractor. He ended up having to tell their technician what part to replace. They replaced that one part for about $400, and my AC has worked like a dream ever since. It is ridiculous that I had to call my dad so he could tell the HVAC company I was paying what part needed to be replaced. Then I had an issue with my main sewer line. Hometown Heroes told me they would need to excavate and install a new main line and quoted me more than $15,000. I called Anthony Plumbing for a second opinion. They cleared my drain lines, scoped everything, and resolved the issue for about $400. That is a $15,000+ recommendation versus a roughly $400 solution. Everyone I dealt with at Hometown Heroes was very nice, but that honestly makes this more concerning to me. My experience has been that they operate more like salespeople than repair technicians. Both times, I was pushed toward an extremely expensive replacement when a much smaller repair or service solved the actual problem. I would especially caution women, homeowners who aren't familiar with HVAC or plumbing, elderly customers, and anyone who may not have the technical knowledge to challenge a recommendation like this. Please get a second opinion before agreeing to a major repair or replacement. Based on my experiences, I would never give Hometown Heroes my business again. Avoid at all costs.

Contacted the owner (Chase) on Christmas Eve(Sunday) after discovering no hot water and unable to light the pilot. Chase stated he would be here 9:00am Tuesday morning. After performing reviews on our current Whirlpool water heater, could not find a positive review for the unit, so decided no matter what the problem, would have a new one installed. Contacted Chase again to let him know to bring a new unit. Chase arrived on time and right off could tell he was very personable, professional and respectful of property. After going over the Whirlpool unit, he agreed it was time to install a new one. What gave me full confidence is his knowledge of the water heater unit operations, venting, chimney importance(flue through chimney) and root cause of the rust(and how to prevent it in the future) which had accumulated on top of the unit. Another factor was the expansion unit which was totally rusted, preventing water from entering. The goal of Chase's satisfaction was to make sure we were totally satisfied with the install, all questions answered and stepped us through the new unit controls, etc. He uses 'Bradford White' water heaters which are highly rated. Chase is a perfectionist, making sure the unit is level, good drainage and secured a couple copper lines which had broken away from the rafter. I will recommend 'KC Water Heaters' to anyone knowing Chase is the template by which all business owners should follow in 'outstanding' customer service. UPDATE: Last month(12/2025), noticed some water dripping from the overflow valve. Contacted Chase to explain the issue. He came out the next day in the morning and replaced the valve at no cost. After checking the main house water pressure, it was right at 80 which is considered high that may have contributed to the leaky valve. Chase reduced the pressure and everything is working fine. Even after two years, KC Water Heaters provides exceptional customer service.

They happened to have an opening the next day, and I had my new water heater installed less than 24 hours after I first saw them, and for a price I could actually afford.
