My day started with a call to a household name know local plumbing company. They have so many trucks and are so successful, they most be doing something right ... right? After telling us they'd be here before noon and promising a series of calls so we'd know when to expect them they showed up kind of by surprise. I'm sure his eyes lit up to find my husband not home. I received two estimates to replace my water heater. One $2500+ and one $3700+. What? No way. We'd already given up a precious night with the girls due to having no hot water. I had to get this solved. I got on the phone. I ended up contacting Advocate Plumbing. At 1:45 he told me he could be here after 3:00. Asked me to send him pics of ours and promised me a $1300 estimate. Jerry showed up at 4:45 with our new water, installed it, charged us what he said and was gone by 5:45. Everyone told us this would take 3-4 hours to switch them out. Not only is Jerry the super hero of plumbing, he honest, he does an amazing job and damn he made me look good to my husband. Our new to us townhouse had issues with the kitchen waste disposal, dish washer, and hot water heater. We called Jerry because his web site included clear and understandable explanations of plumbing problems, including DIY instructions for many issues. His knowledge and professionalism impressed us. Jerry arrived on time, diagnosed each problem and explained exactly what had happened, what needed to be done, and why. His inspection also disclosed a potential problem with the dishwasher that would have caused a flood of waste water to damage our kitchen cabinets and wood floor. I am in Lee's Summit. I called Bob Hamilton and Advocate. Jerry, with Advocate, replied first. He says he is "the employee". Well, I like a good sense of humor as much as I like to go local instead of loco. I told him I had a kitchen sink that was backing up. I described my disposal and an extra (yes!) pipe coming out of the wall, which was open and poured water out. I had already capped it, but now the sink was backing up. Jerry consulted with me via Messenger and when I couldnt fix it simply, he agreed to come out the next day. He's gracious, very knowledgeable, and a pleasure to have work on my plumbing. He even suggested ways to improve the piping - a remodel from a couple years ago left them in a confused state - with an uncapped pipe leftover from a dual sink, as I mentioned above. He reconfigured the trap from the disposal, cleared the pipe, and offered advice on how to maintain much of the plumbing in my house. I noticed many complaints on Bob Hamilton was the exorbitant rates for seemingly little work. I tell you, Jerry charged me an EXTREMELY reasonable amount for all this service. if I could give him 10 stars, I would. And I usually dont go the max rating. Jerry was fantastic. One of the best service calls I've ever had. We had a pressure regulator fail and needed quick replacement. I left him a message. He was busy with another client but took a minute to text me back with a bid that was not only reasonable but lower than two other places I called. We set up the appt for the next day. He was on time, friendly, put on a top quality replacement, quick and clean with his work. I asked him for his opinion on a couple of other items and he was honest about what would be best for me not just to sell me more product or service. I needed an outside faucet replaced. I am so tired of dealing with the larger, heating, cooling and plumbing companies. They are so over priced and their plumbers just aren't friendly or knowledgable. Short story -- Courteous convenient knowledgeable service, fixed my problems plus did a very thorough check of everything plumbing in my house at a reasonable price. Long story - The drain to my washing machine was backing up. I also had a few other plumbing problems that had accumulated.I called Advocate and they quickly worked out a convenient appointment time. Jerry unclogged the drain, fixed the other problems, and did a very thorough check of the water heater, toilets, faucets, sink drains, main drain, etc. As he did this he pointed out some things, gave tips, and made some minor tweaks/fixes. I needed a new water line for the ice maker of my new fridge. Jerry came the next day and instead of running the new line again from the basement, he tapped it from under the kitchen sink instead, and used a copper pipe instead of the plastic flexible tubing or braided hose (which I didn't know was rubber on the inside). He connected the fridge, it works flawlessly. He was looking over other things as well, giving me advices, which I absolutely loved, because big companies will take advantage of the fact that you don't know and upsell everything and their mother. This guy is AWESOME. If you have any and I mean any plumbing issues he can and will solve it. He is a customer service master. He is even willing to give his customer little short cuts so he doesn't have to come out as often. Excellent local service that you can rely on. I called, he gave me a time period when he would be over. He called me an hour before he was supposed to be there and said he was held up on a job. I can understand that but it is so rare to receive a phone call. To top it off he still got there on time! He diagnosed and performed the repair in about 25 minutes. I had asked him to go ahead and replace a few other things on the toilet but he advised not to on a few of them, even though he said he could if I really wanted.
