BRRRR! Anyway....) I quickly turned to Yelp, and after seeing a few 5 star reviews, including 2 by people I know (that's why Yelp works, y'all!) and trust, I gave him a call late yesterday afternoon. He was awesome and also tried to help me resolve the issue on my own. I gave it a try, and before I could cry this morning at my complete and utter fail, he called bright and early to see if I needed him to come over! :) ROCK ON! He was here right on time, took his boots off (no booties, just socks!) to keep our floors clean, super friendly and had my stubborn frozen pipes thawed and the problem identified and solved in under an hour! As if that wasn't awesome enough....COME ON DOWN! The PRICE was RIGHT! (yeah, that's right, it's Bob Barker time). Bob Fickel is just plain awesome, and his assistant Blake was pretty nice too. Bob's my favorite plumber, even over James Denton (don't ask, or else I'll tell you). (Not to mention, it turns out that I know his niece in a galaxy far far away (western Kansas) but I didn't realize that until he was on his way out. Small town for the WIN!!) I'm assuming part of the reason he can offer such affordable rates is because he's a little old school - no website, he doesn't "do email" or take credit cards. But you can call him on a Sunday, and if he's available, he'll come right out. No after hours or emergency fees like most companies charge. My house in Roeland Park has renters, so before I found Bob - thanks to Yelp!! - it was a challenge fixing any plumbing issues from Denver. Other plumbing companies charged me $125 just to "look at the problem". It was ridiculous. Bob will only do the work that's necessary and even throws in great advice or tools to help you maintain your house. (I have tree roots that get in the pipes, so Bob just gave my renters some liquid to pour down the drain every quarter and kill the tree roots). I can't say enough good things about Bob. His business can't handle major plumbing issues, but if he can't fix the problem, he will refer you to someone who will fix the problem - for 1/2 the price (or less) of every other KC company I've contacted. He is fantastic!! If you need a plumber, save yourself some time and money, and call Bob.

They should have let us know that the wall was not strait and had a half inch off set between the bottom measurement openings and the top. While the final tilework looked great aesthetically, there were inconsistencies in the level of the tiles themselves. They did not use not enough self leveling in the right place. Higgins Sewer & Drain Cleaning was the ONLY company that was will to come in an look at the issue and fix the problem. The big guys either didn't want to mess with the problem or immediately pointed the finger at the wastewater company and said that I'd probably have to dig up my sewer line since my property was older. The technician came out and cleaned out 4 large bunches of tree roots and the water immediately started draining. They came back a couple of days later to camera my sewer stack and sewer line and delivered great news that I had no other issues. If you want to skip the details, I'll say I up front recommend them and you should reach out if you need them. Our water line broke as we're in the process of selling a house -- great timing, right?! Aside from the bad timing, the fact of the matter was we needed someone out as soon as possible, but we wanted it done right. I had a few companies that were referred to us, and honestly I got some bad vibes... super low bids, lack of confidence in their ability to get it fixed, etc. Austin from Pierpoint was sort of my last hope as we needed to commit to somebody, and I appreciated their calm demeanor, fair quote, and ability to get it done. Another plumber I had out was too busy to do it, but I mentioned Pierpoint and he said, "Oh yeah, they're a good one to go with." I was able to communicate with them on project updates as we had to stay at the in-laws for a week and a half. They got all the proper permits, made sure the new meter went in the right spot and had it inspected with the city... all in all, I was confident they would do it the right way and they did. They ran into some obstacles which drove the bid up higher, which stinks, but I understand because there's no way of knowing what they might find when they dig, i.e. gigantic old stones in the driveway. I do feel like the crew's overall cleanup could've been better as our basement walls were covered in caked-on mud, as is the floor, and the driveway and neighbors house needed some more attention. However, I round up on my rating because they were there in a big way when an additional water line broke late at night on a weekend, basically a portion of the old city water line. The city water would've gone directly into my house, i.e. flooded the hell out of it in no time. Austin and someone on his crew had a generator ready to bilge water out of the trench, keeping my basement dry while they waited for the city to fix their issue. If you've ever waited on the city of KCMO, even on the phone, you know what a task that is... and this was on a weekend at night! I really appreciate them being there for that and handling it. All in all, I felt seriously at peace after meeting with them compared to the five other groups I had out to bid on it, and they backed that up. Glad to be done with it!

This company is ran by a couple of scam artists. We attempted to have this company (which is a dude…read moreand his wife) come out and replace some pipes in our commercial building and they gave us a quote with a scope of work and a time frame to conclude the job. They later after digging claimed an entirely new scope of work needed to be completed to get it done right and initially we approved the job. After accepting the $15,000 payment they literally did nothing for a week besides dig a small hole, then after that week said they needed another 10 days to complete the job than originally planned and we needed to close your business and sacrifice another 10 days of operation. It took them an entire week to simply dig a hole and attempt to replace one portion of one pipe. They did little to nothing, day in and day out for a week. It was a complete joke. This guys wife simply sat there on her phone for hours on end, attempting to rack up labor hours. After going back and forth with the company, we realized they had no idea what they were doing and were trying to scam us in the process. So we fired them and had Mission Plumbing come out and they gave us a quote significantly less than what these guys did and came out the next day and in 12 hours completed the entire job and repoured the concrete. The guys from Mission Plumbing were literally laughing at the work that Flow Doctor had attempted and said everything was completely out of code for a commercial building. We attempted to get a refund for the work they never completed but being as dishonest as they are, they refused. Long story short we got our refund through our bank and the credit card company because Mission detailed a list (very extensive one) of everything they had to redo and the work that wasn't completed on their end. If you want to overpay for a job that takes way too long to execute, not completely finished and against your local building code done, then this is the company for you!!!
