I strongly advise anyone considering hiring Nohealani Masonry to think twice before doing business…read morewith them. My experience with the owner, Kepu, has been nothing short of a nightmare. I contracted with Kepu in May 2025 to pour and finish a stained, stamped, and sealed concrete driveway, along with the installation of two aluminum gates and fencing. On the last day of the pour, he pressured me to pay the entire final balance upfront--including the gates and fencing--so he could "pay his workers." Against my better judgment, I trusted him. That was a huge mistake. Here's what happened: Substandard Workmanship: Most driveways are poured at 4" thick. Mine was poured at only 2". Reinforcing wire pushed up through the concrete in several places (I have photos). Kepu made several failed attempts to repair it. When I demanded the bad sections be repoured, he began ghosting me and dodging calls. Flaky, Unreliable, and Dishonest: Weeks went by with endless excuses for not showing up. His own vendors even contacted me directly, complaining he wasn't returning equipment he had rented for my job. Only after I threatened to file a RICO complaint with the State of Hawaii did he return--half-heartedly--to reseal the concrete. Poor Final Results: The seal job looks terrible. The color is uneven, large white sandy patches are visible from too much non-slip additive, and there are permanent bucket marks left behind where he rested containers on the wet surface. Unfinished Work & Missing Money: Three months later, Kepu has not installed the gates and fencing. He does not answer phone calls, texts, or emails. After I demanded proof of my gate/fence order, he admitted he canceled it. I told him to refund the money. But never followed through. At this point, he has my money and I have nothing to show for it. I have filed a formal RICO complaint with the State of Hawaii, and I am now preparing to seek legal help to recover damages and the funds I paid him in good faith. If you value your time, money, and sanity, avoid Nohealani Masonry at all costs. I wish I had seen a review like this before I made the mistake of hiring them.

Work was done in 5-1/2 days of the 8 days available for me. Communication was both ways, making sure I knew what was going on and me asking if certain things could be worked into the project.

My house is old so no need fancy one. I sent quote request several companies but almost no one answer. I guess everyone was busy due to storm. I sent quote request to Allen. From other yelper's feedback, he has repaired the door similar to my house. He got back to me next day, offered me reasonable price. So I made schedule right away before another storm comes. On the day, he made a courtesy call that he was behind due to traffic. When he reaches my house, he checked condition of my door. He knew what he needed to do, not only install new door but also adjust to fit uneven frame. He said it's common issue for old house like mine. The wooded house keeps shifting. He trimmed & sanded the new door carefully, installed & uninstalled back & forth till it stayed without touching the frame. I noticed he didn't have a break or lunch time till completed the job. I offered water & snack almost at the end of the job. Such a hard work, yet he even never asked for extra cost. I really appreciate his professionalism & patient. I highly recommend & will hire him for next project for sure.

I went ahead and decided to use Innovative Handywork because he broke done the price - no hidden costs. Allen was highly transparent by showing me pictures and prices of the actual materials, making sure I approved of everything. Allen showed up on time and worked intensely without a break (only after urging him to eat some pastries I bought). I got the impression that Allen genuinely took pride in his work. He appeared to work from his heart and not just from his experience. Allen even hauled my old door away. This was such a satisfying experience with somebody skillful, professional and trustworthy. Allen was also so easy to talk to. We've already discussed future projects. I feel fortunate - and Blessed!
