After touring several skilled nursing rehabilitation centers, I chose Simi Valley Care Center. I was very apprehensive at first, not being through this sort of situation before. He has now been there for three weeks and I (we) are so pleased with the care and facility, I wanted to write this review to help others. Our experience here has been wonderful. The CNAs, nurses, all the therapists, housekeeping, etc. are caring, passionate about what they do and definitely knowledgeable. It was imperative, in our situation, that therapies (physical, speech and occupational) start immediately - and they did!! The therapists are fantastic, showed up every day - even on Sundays - and were always pushing for improvement! There is a beauty salon at the facility, open once a week, a patio to sit in the sunshine, activities, and games and, I was able to bring my lab to visit! Once a month there is a dinner with live entertainment for the patients and their family and friends, put together by the staff with love and attention to every patient's dietary needs. It takes a special person to work at a facility like this, caring for others with compassion and respect. There are always going to be complaints, as our loved ones are very special to us and leaving them under the care of strangers is scary. In my (our) experience, Simi Valley Care Center is peace of mind. Of course, nothing substitutes daily visits by family members :) I hope my review will help others when and if it ever becomes necessary to make such an important decision.

My loved one had 3 items stolen from them while they were staying there. The food is worse than prison food too. Their budget a day per person for food is $7. So you can think of what they serve each person for $7. The place is always hot and they have floor fans blowing on the elderly here when it's 100 degrees outside and VERY LOUD. No one can ever get any rest around there and all the 'care takers' are constantly talking in another language and standing around gossiping. We had no choice but to send our loved one here because it's all their insurance could cover. I'm honestly surprised they didn't die there. But we did end up moving them to go elsewhere which was like pulling teeth to do so. This place shouldn't even be in business and be prepared to NEVER find parking because everyone who works there parks in every spot that's available.

My son went unwillingly at first, but the group interactions with Jesse and John leading the sessions, were exactly what we needed. They use respect, tough love, talk in a way teens can relate, tell the truth, and make sure the parents are involved in the process. They taught us how to communicate (and really listen) as parents & son. After a few tough weeks, my son looked forward to group sessions. He trusted his counselors and so did I. Therapy is never easy & clean. It's hard work. What matters is the end result. Aspire counselors truly care about people. I can't say enough good things about our experience and the bond we made with the counselors. My son is absolutely thriving, out of his dark place and we're all hopeful and excited about the future. It's been 3 years since we went to Aspire and we all talk openly and fondly about that timeframe. My son is even considering a career in counseling because of Jesse and John and the other impactful counselors who helped us. If you need help, Aspire is a definite, viable solution. Everyone I met there from staff members to other clients treated me like family. The whole team was super accommodating and encouraging. It felt like they were genuinely happy that I was there and wanted to help me. I really liked that it's a smaller facility, so you get plenty of individual attention and you always get a chance to feel heard. Aside from the staff and community, the facility was nice and comfortable. I had my own room for half my stay and had one roommate the other half. The weather was beautiful so I loved the backyard area. Oh, and the chef there is so good! I did not expect to eat that well in a detox.

They lured me out to California, from Maryland. Told me they would cover my travel BOTH ways. Come to find out, about 24 hours into the program .. if you want to go home on their dime, you must complete the program. I was told I would have my own room. I did not. They ripped me off of a sleep med that I had been on for 15 years... never once abusing, and they threw me into a room with a stranger. Im AUDADHD, I have severe mental illness. Some linked to trauma over things that happened to me in my sleep. *speaking of, they took me off stimulates. They are a controlled substance, dont ya know. Doesn't matter that I have been on them since I was 6 years old. No taper. Hard withdrawal. I went to the emergency room bc of it. So there I am, stuck in California... no promise of a good night's rest. I have several chronic illnesses. They completely ignored the fact that getting enough sleep is the only way I can function and learn. You have to go to 6-8 hours of class 5 days a week . Again, chronically ill. I have not maintained a 35 hour work week in over 10 years. No accommodations were made for me. Despite going all the way to Debbie (manager of program). I suffered through the program, came home..... absolutely zero follow-up. Absolutely zero direction as to what comes next. Im sure this program works for some. But if you have mental illness or other chronic illness... Search elsewhere I ended up going to the psych ward to get my meds straightened back out. Oh and I still dont drink alcohol. Which is why I was there. But I do not give that credit to AIS. Thats all me.

Reid is the absolute best! We've been in speech therapy for…read moreseven years across many different settings and with several therapists, but no one compares to Reid! My son looked forward to seeing her every week. She made every session fun with games, her great sense of humor, and the warmth she brought to each appointment. We also worked with her for myofunctional therapy, and it was incredible to see my son's progress with his "R" sound over the months as she helped him build tongue strength and improve posture. We made huge strides in reducing his mouth breathing, and she guided us with care and expertise through a frenectomy he ultimately needed. In just eight months with Reid, my son made more progress than he had in seven years with other therapists. I can't recommend her highly enough--there's no doubt anyone who works with her will love her just as much as we do!

I went to Genesis PT before and after surgery - a total of 14 months...mostly worked with Justin, but I also saw Josh...along with the multiple aides for exercises, ultrasound and therapeutic massage (Jackie). The whole team at Genesis run by Dr. Ray Camacho is top notch - I got to know them pretty well, and the entire place is run like a well-oiled machine when it comes to good and effective care, professionalism, and expertise. The front office staff was always on top of requesting insurance approval at the right intervals so that my care always continued with no interruptions - the receptionist always made sure to remind me that I could set up more appts, as she kept careful track of when my next/last appts were scheduled. SMART, kind, friendly and good people work here! Best of all, I have full range of motion back with no pain. It was a long, difficult road to recovery, but I know this team made at the difference in my healing process (after switching from two other Simi PT businesses that I was dissatisfied with). Go here if you want good care.

The new director is the least personable, her door is always closed she never is out with the residents. Marge the longest running original director was very visible to the residents. They cannot keep staff. There has not been a physical therapist in over a year. The shuttle driver is constantly changing. They cannot keep maintenance staffed. Don't get me started on the food. The care and satisfaction of the residents have declined immensely since the change to "The Sunrise Corp Way".
