They arrived when they said they would (I'm very big on punctuality) , were very thorough with their work, knowledgeable , and professional. Joe was very understanding and took his time when explaining the process and answered every question I had (despite me asking numerous questions over and over). He was very honest and I do not feel as though he talked me into doing extra things that were not needed / made me spend extra money for no reason (unlike a lot of other companies out there). I would 100% recommend them and the services they offer, as they are a top notch first class company and it was an absolute pleasure working with them!! Thank you for everything!!

First, we were told that the project would take 3 days. When the project started, the employee said he was not given any information about the project. He brought no tools and asked to borrow our hammer, step stool, ladder, and broom. We explained what needed done, expecting some of the ceiling to be replaced. He said he would be in and out in one day. Once he started tearing out the ceiling it was clear that the project was not 1/4 of the ceiling but 1/2. Even then, he explained he used fast drying materials, etc, and would probably by out in 2 days. We prepared for a 4 day project just in case and scheduled cleaners/movers for later in the week. The project took 7 days. He arrived late, up to 2 hours, did not always tell us when he would/wouldn't be there. He would come for an hour, leave for several and then come back for a short time. My wife asked at some point how long he'd be gone because she needed to run to the store. He said he would be back quickly, was running to Wendy's but showed up two hours later. He was not prepared with equipment, and kept referencing another job he was doing down the street. He was put off when my wife asked him to bring his own broom and step stool as it was clear ours would get ruined in the mess. He later told me my wife was "difficult". Totally unprofessional. We were so frustrated by that point, on day 3 we spoke to the owner, who really did not listen to my concerns, just kept repeating that sometimes jobs take longer than expected. On day one he knew the scope of the work, The painting job was horrible. Several times I pointed out how there was paint from the ceiling on our walls (which didn't match) as well as poor coverage of ceiling paint in the corners of the ceiling. Some of it got fixed but then I had to show him again areas that were messy. Having to tell him and his sidekick how to paint correctly is just unacceptable. He later said he thought I was going to touch up the paint. When reinstalling our ceiling fan they could not figure out why it wasn't working. This is a year old fan that the contractor knew worked when they initially took it down. This was also day 5 and the "ceiling fan guy" could not figure out why the ceiling fan wouldn't work after installation. The painting still looked awful which I communicated to them. They tried to find an electrician, even asking me if I knew of someone. The owner explained the project would be delayed until they could find someone to fix the fan. He also asked me if I could go ahead and pay for the project. I said no, I'd pay when the job was completed. Two days later (Sunday) an electrician came and ended up replacing the receiver and remote, using one that did not have the settings our original one had (three speeds for the fan) so we now have a fan that just works on high, with no way to adjust it. Had we known this was the problem and they were going to go out and buy one we would've paid to have one that matched the fan. Now we've had to repurchase a receiver that matches the fan and have it reinstalled. At the end of the job we were not completely satisfied but needed these people out of our house. They did not clean up completely, left spots of paint on the hardwood floors, construction dust on our baseboards, ruined one of the screens in our window, left drips of paint on our walls, left dirty rags and garbage. Honestly, I don't even think the drywall installation on our ceiling looks great. You can clearly see lines where the drywall was installed. We are happy that our issue is "fixed" and we are safe from our ceiling caving in but we are not happy with the cosmetic flaws and the entire process. We will never use this company again.

We talked to many contracting companies, and none were up for the task. Finally, we found Clarke Contractors, Inc., and immediately we knew that this was the company that would be able to help us through this difficult time to restore our home. From day one with the Clarke team, communication was easy, we learned about what the entire process would look like, and we knew that they would be looking out for us in every aspect of the restoration. Jerry made the process for partnering with our insurance company for the project straightforward. Terry led the on-site crew with Jamie flawlessly and kept us in the loop through async and in-person communication. The team is dependable, highly-skilled, friendly, patient, and they have immense pride in the work being done. The attention to detail throughout the year long project was astounding. The outcome of the entire restoration to fix what was damaged AND add in renovations on top of our insurance repairs was on time and totally exceeded our expectations for what could be accomplished in our home! We are so thrilled that we found Clarke Contractors, Inc., because we know that this time in our lives would not have been as smooth without them on our team!

TLDR version - Best case scenario, this company is extremely lacking in transparency and does not…read morehonor their estimates. Worst case scenario this company openly takes advantage of customers. We had a toilet leaking in our basement, plumber friend recommended Peak Environmental to deal with the mold from this leak. P.E. came out to check it out, my wife dealt with them, they assessed the mold, and wanted to test it for $400, they also quoted her $2500 to remove the moldy drywall, remove the sink, treat the studs, remove all debris, set up air purification for the duration of the job and clean out the air ducts. She went ahead and had them test it and agreed to the price. Not sure why the testing was necessary when everything was being gutted. Also, this estimate was all verbal nothing written, felt she could trust them given that our plumber recommended. They called to tell her the test results, we never received any sort of documentation. Set up a time to come out to start the process. The project was delayed due to emergencies from cold temperatures which is understandable. First visit, removed and bagged all the drywall, removed the sink. They left the bags and the sink in the basement, said the studs were too wet to treat and would be back. Second visit kept getting pushed back due to emergencies, again understandable. They scheduled for Thursday 2/1, at this point Robert told my wife that they would have the ducts cleaned Friday, she told him no one had contacted her to set the time up. He said he would get a hold of them to call her. After a little bit he text her that he was mistaken when he said the ductwork was included in the estimate and that its typically around $650, but he told them they had to do it for around $500 to save us $150 for the inconvenience. She ended up telling him that we would not be proceeding with that part of this job. They came out Thursday to finish up and haul everything away, my wife wrote them a check for the balance of $1250, she had paid the first half upfront. I was not aware that the reason we weren't doing the ductwork was that it was magically no longer within the estimate, I thought it was just scheduling issues, so was surprised when we still owed the entire remaining half. I went home to inspect their work, and then contacted the owner Joshua at the email address on their site. I requested he provide a written estimate or a receipt broken out into line items. Later that evening I received a receipt with just the work listed out in a paragraph stating what they did and then the check totals and to let him know if I needed anything else. I responded that I needed line items broken out, stating that there was miscommunication as to what the estimate entailed and we were never provided a written estimate. I received the full estimate, and the explanation that since it was a self pay project instead of insurance they did a verbal estimate. He also wrote "I apologize if there was some miscommunication regarding the duct cleaning being in that original estimate, and we offered to take $150 off the duct cleaning cost to make that right for you all." I found the offer to take $150 off something we were told more than once was in the original estimate to be utterly insulting, and can't fathom how that can be considered making it right. Looking into the estimate I discovered that 75% of the cost was due to the air purification scrubbers they set up for the duration of the project. I was confused by this and how they were listed on there, so I sent him another email outlining all of the miscommunication and asking for clarity on these. He explained that 2 units were on there for 5 days each at $130 a day. Then there are two HEPA filters that he charged me for that the air scrubbers use at $213.89 each. With tax those two items totaled up to $1873.23. I also told him that without the ductwork I never would have agreed to the price of $2500 for the job, I still think with the ductwork that is high for the scope of work. He gave me his phone number with that clarification to discuss. I thanked him for clarifying and informed him that I don't think there is anymore point in discussing this as it will not be resolved to my satisfaction. He replied asking what a peaceful resolution would be to this issue, and stated that they do strive to make all our customers happy with the work they perform. After I did not reply he offered that they would be happy to have the ducts cleaned in the original cost. I have not responded to this either as I would never let them in my home again. Meanwhile Bobbi started texting my wife that he guesses her husband was talking to Josh and there's confusion about the duck[sic] cleaning and they want to cover it now. She told him no that would look elsewhere for that. I feel taken advantage of by P.E. due to non-transparent estimating and not honoring said estimates.
