I had a terrible experience with this company and its owner, Simon, over what ultimately turned out to be a miscommunication. I initially contacted this company in April to schedule cleaning services. After that, months passed without any reminders or follow-up communication, so I assumed the appointment had fallen through and hired another cleaning company instead. Then, on August 7, I suddenly received three text messages saying the cleaners were on their way, followed by another asking whether I wanted my refrigerator cleaned. I was in the middle of moving and didn't immediately see the first messages. When I saw the refrigerator text, I called right away because I was confused about how anyone had gotten into my house while I was away. I hadn't received any recent communication about an appointment since April. I reached the answering service instead of the company directly and asked them to have the cleaners leave my home immediately since no one was there. It turned out my husband had accidentally left the front door unlocked when he rushed out. Simon then called me and immediately began blaming me for not remembering an appointment from four months earlier, despite no reminders reaching me. He was rude, dismissive, and eventually hung up on me. When I called back, I again reached the answering service and explained the situation. I asked them to tell Simon that we wanted the cleaners to leave or we would have to contact the police because they were inside our home without our knowledge. Simon called again and said he was on vacation in Virginia. He claimed reminder emails had been sent. When I asked him to confirm the email address because I wanted to see if the messages had gone to my spam folder, he refused, saying he was on the beach and wasn't going to check. He also told me he had cleaned over 70 homes without issues. I responded that my experience was still valid regardless of his past business history. He eventually said his staff would leave since I had mentioned calling the police. Later, when we returned home, my husband noticed that a pair of shoes and his tool kit, which had been left on the counter, were missing. We also found trash left throughout the house, and the small amount of cleaning that had been done was not satisfactory. What concerned us most was discovering that our legally owned firearm, which had been hidden, had been moved along with its magazine and ammunition. We saw no reason why anyone should have been accessing that area of our home. My husband contacted Simon about the missing items, and Simon simply told him to call the police before hanging up. After that, Simon sent me multiple text messages from his personal phone, including screenshots from April, insisting his employees had not taken anything. I replied that we would allow the proper authorities to handle the matter and asked him to stop contacting me. He continued sending messages, so I told him that any further unwanted communication would be considered harassment. After speaking with my attorney, I requested Simon's or his attorney's contact information so all future communication could go through the proper channels. At that point, he finally sent a screenshot showing that my email address had been entered incorrectly in their system. That explained why I never received any appointment reminders. My question is simple: if the company had my correct phone number, why weren't appointment reminders sent by text after months of no communication? This situation escalated unnecessarily because of poor communication and an unprofessional response from the owner. Instead of addressing our concerns respectfully, we were met with hostility. We have reported the missing items to local law enforcement and will allow the appropriate authorities to handle the matter going forward. Update: these pictures are from my deep cleaning of the apartment. I hired Top Shelf Cleaning for a move-in clean of my two-bedroom, one-bath apartment, and unfortunately the service did not meet expectations. The team was in and out in about 40-50 minutes, which did not seem sufficient for a thorough cleaning of a space this size. When I returned, I found several areas that had been missed, including visible dust on the kitchen cabinets and ceiling fans, paint still on the toilet that needed to be scraped off, and surfaces that did not appear to have been properly cleaned. The refrigerator was the only area that seemed thoroughly done. Since the apartment was already in decent condition, I expected the service to leave it noticeably cleaner than it was. When I reached out to Simon and shared my concerns, I was disappointed that there was no offer to come back and review the work. Instead, he maintained that everything had been cleaned. He also asked about payment even though the invoice had already been paid, which reflected the same lack of attention to detail I experienced with the cleaning itself. For $200, this ultimately felt like money wasted, and I left feeling that I could have done a better job myself. Hired Top Shelf for a clean and revived sub par results. The crew arrived and cleaned the house incredibly fast which resulted in a lack of attention to detail. The floors were not mopped (meaning spots were still left behind as well as a musty smell; the mop head appeared to be dirty), mirrors were not cleaned throughly (streaks left behind, spots still remained), bags were not put back in trash cans after they were emptied, the stove was not cleaned fully. Overall, I ended up re cleaning my house, despite having paid to have it cleaned by this company. I have attached pictures of the sub par clean. Save your money, find a different cleaning service. Edit: The owner, Simon, refused to get give a refund despite the sub par work. Simon confirmed he would vacuum and mop the floors of my home and clean the stove. Only the floors were re done. Additionally, during his second visit he acknowledged that it was an inconvenience to replace the trash bags for the cleaners as they were unaware of where they were, however they did not ask and I did not notice until after the clean was over. Overcommitted...Underdelivered...Unprofessional...Does Not Take Feedback Well. In partnership with my nephew, we contracted Top Shelf to clean his home before my visit. I explained to Simon (the leader/owner) that the house needed a deep cleaning and I was seeking a service who could provide this level of service. He assured me that they could, "My team of 5 people will get in there - dust and clean the grout with our fine-tooth brushes. This won't be a problem for us." He initially quoted one price but when he learned that it was a deep cleaning he increased the price (rightful so). We agreed on a date/time but when the day came the team was a no show. I called Simon and he informed me that he had changed the time. THE ISSUE: Though Simon claims that he sent an email, he did not confirm receipt nor did he speak to the us to determine whether this adjustment would be a convenient time, especially since it was in the middle of the workday and their presence could interrupt virtual meetings. The team of 5 people arrived to "clean the house" for 1-1.5 hr. Later, after my family completed their work tasks, they had a chance to thoroughly review Top Shelf's work and discovered the quality to be poor. This included: 1. Dust 2. Cobwebs in plain sight 3. A spider and spider web at the front entrance (see picture) 4. The showers were NOT thoroughly cleaned. I reached out to Simon to provide feedback about the service and I was met with excuses, defensiveness, and insults. During our 10-min phone call, Simon spent 8-min telling me how great they are and justified that their deficient work was due to the fact that the home was old, appliance were dated, and the environment had not been "kept". NONE of these opinions had anything to do with the quality of work of a 5-person team charged with doing a deep cleaning. The average customer would have been offended by his comments. I'm not. The home had been owned by my great-grandmother who was 99 years old. This is why we needed a DEEP cleaning. Additionally, I am a global business consultant that works with companies to improve performance so I will leave this insight: 1. Simon was inconsiderate when rescheduling the appointment. He did not consider how his change in the schedule would affect the customer nor did he contact the customer to negotiate a mutually convenient time. RECOMMENDATION: Don't just assume that because you make a change in the online platform that the customer receives the message. Pick up the phone and discuss time change with your customer. 2. The quality of the cleaning service was poor. Simon was on-site and did not check the quality of the work..... OR...It could be that his definition of deep cleaning is grossly low. RECOMMENDATION: Improve your standards, check the work, have the home owner verify the performance. 3. Simon is the leader but does not take feedback well. When receiving constructive feedback (not criticizing feedback), he focused on sharing how "great they are" instead of seeking first to understand; empathizing with the customer,; and working to find a resolution. RECOMMENDATION: Stop taking feedback personally, stop making assumptions, invest in executive leadership coaching and business coaching to improve your ability to listen, understand and solve problems. Needless to say, I would NOT recommend this company to clean your home until they can improve the quality of the housekeeping and customer service. read more

No one on the crew spoke English, so I was not able to communicate with them what I wanted, and apparently neither did Simon (the man who runs the company). He eventually agreed to send someone, but then canceled after our friend who recommended him sent him a message he didn't like, so we were stuck with dirty bathrooms. Did not clean windows (they say they dont but would for us), baseboards, all hardwood(bookshelf, around doors and windows). i contracted for a deep cleaning for my 1950 sq Ft ranch house. Simon, presumably the owner, quoted the price and said he would send 4 people to do a deep clean arriving between 12-12:30pm. On that morning, he texted me they would be arriving 90 minutes earlier. I told him that would not work and we would have to do it at the original time. The cleaning crew arrived and did a very good job, though they were here a little longer than the 2 hours predicted by Simon. While the crew was cleaning, Simon and I engaged in texting about how payment was to be made. I said I would Venmo the amount we agreed upon. I inquired about possibly using his services monthly or bi-weekly but maybe only kitchen and bathrooms and whether there would be a different price. You would have thought I insulted him. He then started texting that his crew had been there over 2 hours and was not interested in providing any further service due to that and that "I asked him for a discount"!
