I recently switched my primary vet for all 3 of my dogs because I felt like the care at All Creatures had become extremely overpriced and focused more on upselling than the actual needs of my pets. My 9-year-old pug has previously had a severe reaction to the rabies vaccine, which I explained multiple times. Despite this, they refused to give her Cytopoint allergy injection unless she also received the rabies vaccine. Considering she is an indoor pug with a documented vaccine reaction history, this felt very concerning and unnecessary. I also brought in another one of my dogs for Cytopoint, and they insisted on doing a skin scrape first, which added another $200 to the visit. They ultimately found nothing under the microscope. On top of that, they presented an iPad full of "treatment options" recommending over $1,000 worth of additional tests, medications, and procedures. It felt overwhelming and very sales-driven. After visiting our new vet last week, the difference was night and day. No pressure, no excessive treatment plans.. Just compassionate, straightforward care from people who genuinely seemed focused on helping my dogs rather than maximizing profit. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I hope this feedback encourages more transparency and less pressure to upsell unnecessary vaccines, tests, and treatment options. read more

I wanted to update and say this vet did reach out to me and felt very very sincere and assured me that nothing lol this will ever happen again. I had a last-minute appointment with All Creatures Care Cottage after my macaw broke his wing. I was referred to them because they were said to treat avians. The front desk staff was friendly, and the vet technician was professional. I met with Dr. Spongberg, who seemed nice. X-rays confirmed that my macaw had a broken humerus. I initially chose this clinic because I believed they had experience with birds, but now I'm not so sure. Before sedation, I asked the vet technician if they would wrap his wing to prevent further injury and use a neck collar to stop him from picking at the bandages. (While asleep) I was told they didn't have those available for birds, which was surprising. Additionally, the doctor didn't physically examine my bird in the room, which I found unusual. In my past experiences, vets have been more hands-on, but that wasn't the case here. Overall, I gave them a 3-star rating. They accommodated my last-minute appointment, and the staff was professional. However, the doctor only presented me with two options either euthanize my bird for a broken wing or have surgery with Dr. Nemetz, as no one at the clinic performs avian surgeries. I do appreciate that the staff acted quickly and emailed me the X-ray results and provided me with pain meds. Thank you, Dr. Spongberg, for doing your best, though I had hoped for more. I think this clinic is better suited for cats and dogs. However, in the short time I was there, I did notice the love they showed to other animals. I've been coming here for the past few years for my bunny and recently began bringing my dog here. I've noticed price changes as time has passed, which I can accept but today I brought my bunny in for a nail trim and was surprised when it was $50. $25 for the trim and $25 for vet tech services, which were not disclosed to me until I asked about the price as I was paying out. I remember when it was under $20 for a nail trim. I did not appreciate being blind-sided by this extra cost, which is now double the price. The receptionist said it was implemented months ago, so maybe that is true but you think they would have sent an email talking about this MANDATORY fee that they will not remove. It's sad to see business run this way but I will be finding a new provider because they will find every way to nickel and dime you here! read more

If it seems like the prices have become incredibly high and the care has gone down, it's because it's been bought by SVP/Mission Pet Health equities in 2021. I had made a negative review before due to a negative experience and they worked with me to help with the cost, which I greatly appreciated. But after this most recent experience, I will not be returning. Had an appointment earlier this year with Dr. Cheryl wood, had a negative experience. Brought in my rabbit who had an ongoing abscess problem, which is understandable as I was told from the beginning it wouldn't go away completely. But she kept insisting he needed to be completely sedated to lance a small abscess, when in the past, doctors in that same clinic gave him localized anesthesia and lanced it without the entire process of having him put under. She also kept insisting I get him an x ray, I declined as he already had one recently. When the bill estimate came out, the x ray charge was on there despite the fact that I had declined on multiple occasions. Overall it felt quite pushy. The front reception staff were always super polite so I appreciate that and that's the only reason it's not a 1 star review, but other than that, there really is no point in coming back. My box turtle had overgrown claws which caused one of his feet to get stuck. Despite originally not having an opening the same day, they called me back once a time opened up and I was able to get him examined and a treatment plan made, which was done quickly and professionally. Took my African grey in same day I called. no extra fee for urgency I am sure because the very careful full exam was very reasonable. They did major diet education and seemed very good. I was waiting with a neighbor who brought in his egg bound parrot and they saved his bird and gave nutritional guidance. From the start when the desk person gave me very good directions I appreciated because I was so worried I forgot my phone and address and her directions were so compleat it was easy to find. The tech. weighed her and checked on health habits like diet. The vet was gentle and took time to really explain things to me. I was never rushed. 2 more birds will soon be in for there yearly wellness exam. I got careful education and am very pleased. I once moved because I could not find a vet I liked because my animals mean so much to me. My bird doe not need the very risky surgery I thought she needed. I am so happy but also glad to know I am not far from a vet that can handle avian as most can't. her heart and breathing were checked breathing and she was handled gently and not frightened. I am grateful. She is eating and. not traumatized because everything about the experience was unrushed calm and gentle. My old vet is great for mammals but not avian so glad to find all creatures. I was so worried a less honest vet could have sold me on a very expensive surgery and maybe killed my bird. If asked yesterday, I would have given 5-Stars. Months ago, doctor in ACCC treated our chinchilla's abscess well, so decided to have ACCC taking care of all our pets, i.e., two bunnies and three chinchillas. Though we have multiple options near our home and one way drive to Costa Mesa costs us 40min. We trusted ACCC so we made the commitment. The two baby parrots, latest members of our family, visited ACCC in late July the first time for wellness check. The doctor suggested blood test for virus screen and told us it would be a simple and quick procedure. But birds might be stressful for a couple days. We did worry they might be a little too young. So we waited till this morning. We thought it would be a 'Simple & Quick' procedure. And we only need to make them happy afterwards. We trusted the ACCC, and believed our birds would be treated professionally. It turned out we were WRONG. Blood sampling for both babies failed. And which was worse, the green one got her wing hurt. The pink one had more than just 'needle wound' than we were informed. I have been feeling super guilty. The so-called technicians did this was purely amateur. And I believe no one truly loves animals could make this mess. My babies are our family members, not lab guinea pigs or training equipments for clueless green hands to practice on. And we brought our babies to suffer this. Today ACCC failed us, badly. We are leaving to another vet vendor for good. read more

I'd like to say that I never write reviews. It's taking me four years because it's still weighing heavily on my heart. In fact, I recently wrote a letter to the company in the hope that someone would contact me to discuss the issue internally. When nobody bothered to respond, I decided to write this review. , For the most part, the clinic staff were always friendly. My main issue is with Miss Behm. I would highly recommend taking your pet elsewhere should you be assigned to Miss Behm. My pet almost lost his life because she refused to see him. I live less than five minutes from the clinic, and it would take less than ten minutes to administer an IV, which is what the techs do, not the vet. So it would take her close to no time to see him. My poor 9-year-old dog had an adverse reaction to the medication he was prescribed and was vomiting about thirteen times a day. When I called the clinic, the vet wouldn't even bothered to get on the call, I had to demand answers from the receptionist, she told me to take my pet to the clinic where his surgery was performed, when I said there's four hour wait, she then finally said I should give him a chicken broth and scheduled an appointment for the following Monday. My poor dog needlessly suffered for three days until another vet at this clinic saw him and was shocked at how dehydrated my dog was. He could have been given the IV the same day I called, and would have felt better almost immediately. Instead, he nearly died and lost about ten pounds, which he never regained till the end of his life since he was a senior. I didn't have a bad experience with the other vet (Dr. Torres, who doesn't seem to work there anymore) or the staff, but I sure would highly recommend avoiding Miss Behm. She doesn't care about your pet and definitely won't go out of her way to help. One time, I gave her a list of food I fed my pet with questions about what I should add or avoid, what nutrients are good for him or not, etc. All Miss Behm wrote on that sheet of paper was: "Don't let him gain weight!" That was all the input she gave me! She never gave me any guidance when she diagnosed my pet with cancer, either, until I called back and asked more questions, which I forgot to ask at the initial diagnosis when I was in shock. She acted like she couldn't care less - just another cancer diagnosis. If you love your pet, take it to another clinic. read more

The staff here is very kind but not very knowledgeable or equipped to handle reptiles. They had no sense of urgency for our bearded dragon's condition which we later found out was a serious reproductive issue and life threatening condition. Unfortunately I decided to stop taking my dog to ACCC. Been going there for over 10 years and have always had a great experience with Dr. Spongberg, Dr. Behm and the entire staff but a new vet has been hired that I cannot support. For context, I brought my dog in a few months ago and noticed this car in the (dedicated) parking lot with a few extreme religious magnets. I also noticed a lab coat hanging in the backseat with the name Dr. Cheryl Wood sewn on. I didn't recognize the name so brushed it off as someone just visiting or bringing their own pet in but was horrified when a person with that same name entered the exam room as my vet. I went home and wrote an email to ACCC expressing my thoughts on this and was told she was only a temp vet and I wouldn't be placed with her again. She has since been hired on as a full time vet at ACCC. I know at least one of the vets has left the practice because of this decision and I've decided that's my best route as well. I have zero issues with my vet being religious and I believe in freedom of speech but can't support a medical facility that would knowingly hire on someone who is proudly anti-science. Really hate to leave, ACCC has been there for my family in some really hard times. But they made their choice. read more

Great place to take your animals to. Attentive staff and knowledgeable vets. I've taken my cat here for a couple years for vaccines but he was having other issues so it was a must to take him in. They are always on point with the issue within the animal and they are honest with cost and what steps that need to be made. They also offer Care Credit (same as you would use for dental work) which is great. My kitty is now happy and healthy! Thank you to the staff and veterinarians! You guys are amazing. Don't mind the other reviews. Schedules conflict, people yap, etc. They will really take time to take care of your animals and find the right cure/diagnosis. It may be a long wait time but if you care about your animals then you have to wait and ask the right questions/answer their questions properly. All Creatures is hands on the best vet in the area. We had 2 pet rats and finding a vet that accepts rats is typically hard but all creatures welcomed us from the beginning. We always got a call a day or two after the rats appts to make sure they were doing okay. A few weeks ago we had to put down our sweet Dobby boy and we wanted to go through All Creatures but it was last minute and they were booked for the day. We ended up going to another vet to put him down. I called back All Creatures to let them know we won't need the appt the next day because Dobby had passed. Steer clear of this place. I have been bringing my dog and cat here for a few years. I have spent over a few grand on my dog here in just the last two months. Last night my cat went missing and showed up early this morning. He is barley walking with swollen hips as if he got hit by a car. I called the vet this morning to bring him as soon as possible and they turned me away. Their response was that they were "all booked up" and that I should call random clinics and see if they can take me. Luckily I had taken him to a vet in the past for fleas and they got me in IMMEDIATELY. What place turns away an emergency because they are booked up. I honestly can't believe they told me to call around when my cat could potentially be seriously injured. A few months ago my dog had an abscess on her ear. The vet proceeded to convince me that my dog had cancer. In the end she didn't but you should never tell an owner their dog has cancer unless you know for sure. Just save yourself time and money and go somewhere else read more

Warning. This Animal hospital is a careless business. I brought my dog Trigger here because he had a broken pinky paw. When the vet tech came out to get him she was not friendly and was rude every time I brought him. She even scolded me and said he wasn't sedated enough. The people at the reception desk were nice but the woman who came from the back to grab my dog was rude and short. I told the receptionist that my dog was not going to let that rude vet tech touch him so they went back to tell her. Instead of having another vet tech put his bandage and splint on she was mad so she brought him out and rudely told me I needed to go home and sedate him w meds and to come back the next day. What?? I came back the next day and that same vet tech put a splint on my dog that was two sizes too small. What?? They told me not to take the bandage off for a week but after about 5 days he was in so much pain I had to take it off. When I took it off his paw was swollen almost double the size of all his other paws. I realized that they put a splint on my dog that was way too small and the corners of the splint were very sharp and they were digging into his outside paws. This basically caused him to have two enormous holes on both his paw pads. The corners of the splint caused both of his paw pads to wear off and the holes were deep. I immediately took him to Costa Mesa animal Hospital. Way better Vet. Way more on top of it. The Costa Mesa Animal hospital main doctor acknowledge that the previous Vet put a split on him that was way too small at the previous vet which was the all creatures care cottage. Dr Donnelly at CM Animal hospital couldn't believe how careless they were and neither could I. Dr Donnelly had to perform surgery to close the wounds and suture up the holes that the splint had created. Because the paw was so infected because of the holes in his foot it has now been 2 1/2 months and we have to wait another six weeks or longer for this issue to heal.. They are going to hear from my attorney. They caused a problem that has cost me a fortune read more

Has gone downhill. Had been a loyal client for years with multiple pets and very disappointed. I called to make appointment for my dogs to get a nail trim. Girl looked up my account while on the phone and booked my appointment. I loaded my dogs in my car and drove over (total pain!), checked in and sat in waiting room. One of the girls at the front desk told me to weigh my dogs. What? Is it now self-serve? Five minutes later same girl announced "we cannot trim your dogs' nails because they are due for rabies shots." Why look up my "account" and not tell me that BEFORE I drive over with my dogs??? This place is not great their vet misdiagnosed my dogs issue, made me take so many X-rays of the foot when the problem is the shoulder. This is a very common issue too. Not sure how they missed the entire area. Also the customer service is horrible. My dog needed his medication which they were suppose to give a prescription for a full years supply after his yearly exam last year, they didn't and only gave 9 months. So when my mom called for a refill (I was out of the country) they said no they "can't bc your dogs exam is due in 1 month" and they would email me to explain, they did and I emailed back on wed telling them they never gave me a full years supply in the first place and they just ignored my email, it is now Saturday and I had to call them to see why I didn't get a response- they didn't even address that part at all and just said they can only give one month supply bc that's the law, then she changed it to two months supply arbitrarily and I was like didn't u just tell me it's the law and you would be breaking the law if u gave more than one month? Then she goes on to tell me they don't have to give me anything and I should be grateful of what they are giving me. That is not how you talk to your customers especially when you guys are the ones that f*d up by not giving a full years prescription in the first place! And don't slap around "the law" when u just arbitrarily change "the law" immediately after it. read more

Day of they recommended several vaccines which did run up the price more than I thought, but they are very thorough and trustworthy. I didn't want to settle for the cheapest doctor to possibly mess up the surgery. Excellent aftercare instructions and the wound healed very fast and now she's back to her normal wild self!
