You can hear the sound great from basically anywhere. It's easy to go grab food/drinks and return to your spot and bathrooms are close by as well. The service is decent for food and drinks. Ticket prices for concerts here are reasonable and some great artists perform here. It's a bit of a walk from the parking lot, but it's still definitely worth checking out!

Even under ideal conditions, COTA is a huge place and getting from the parking lot to the show is a genuine hassle. There were thunderstorms and lightning flashes in the early part of the evening, which delayed the show for two hours, and Lene Lovich's set ended up being cut -- I know nobody can control the weather, but the staff on the ground wasn't helpful at all with providing updates on the show's status. Would it be canceled? Should we wait? We rode a tram bus from the parking lot to just outside the venue, and waited and waited for the gates to open. Nobody was telling the crowd anything. It was chaos. At one point we were herded down a hill into a parking garage to escape the rain (it was a garage, but nobody there was rockin', though cars filled with people bailing on the show and leaving were constantly coming through). I resorted to the B-52's Instagram account to get updates on the situation. Finally, at some point after 8 p.m. the gates opened, we entered the venue, wiped down our seats, and waited. After the show, we walked to the tram station (it was close to midnight by then) and waited, and waited for a tram to take us back to Lot F. There was some sort of "issue." People had been waiting up to 40 minutes for a tram. Nobody from the staff came over to tell us anything. We finally gave up and hoofed it over half a mile to our car. The COTA staff appear to be extremely disorganized and have very little idea how to keep a crowd of some 5,000 people informed about what's going on. They seem more interested in extracting money from people's wallets (besides the extortionate ticket prices, it's the land of $14 beers, $9 ice cream sandwiches, $45 T-shirts, etc. -- COTA makes airport shops seem like a bargain) than taking care of their customers. They don't seem to care about their patrons' welfare at all. I will not be returning to this venue under any circumstances.

They had enough parking space but I just park just outside and it was a breeze walking into the venue. Very good stff maintaining the queue and traffic. Tips to improve: 1. Form a file while entring the hall because people were scrambling all over to enter 2. Provide right instruction to queue outside restrooms 3. The last three rows are literally just free wooden chairs, esp the last one being a high-chair. Wish they were comfortable cushioned seats too.

We went to see The Wiz, the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical that reimagines The Wizard of Oz through a vibrant cultural lens. This production is part of the new national Broadway tour presented by Texas Performing Arts as part of Broadway in Austin, and from the moment we arrived, the evening felt special. Bass Concert Hall itself is stunning. The towering glass-front entrance and brightly lit lobby immediately create an inviting atmosphere, while beautiful sculptures on every level add an artistic touch throughout the venue. As Austin's largest performing arts venue with nearly 3,000 seats, the theater is impressively designed with multiple balconies and sightlines that make the stage visible from virtually everywhere. The acoustics are equally noteworthy...crystal-clear sound fills the space so well that every seat feels like a good seat. It had been a while since our last visit, and we noticed several updates. There seem to be more food and beverage options now, but the most fascinating addition was the snack bar technology. You simply place your items on the counter, and the system automatically recognizes everything you selected...no scanning required. Your items and prices instantly appear on the screen, and you check out from there. It felt a little futuristic in the best possible way. Now for The Wiz itself... from the very first scene, the production burst onto the stage with color, rhythm and energy. The costumes were intricate, bold, and beautifully designed, immediately signaling that this was not a traditional retelling but a fresh, re-envisioned production. While the core storyline remains familiar, it was told with modern twists deeply rooted in Black culture, music, and storytelling. The cast was phenomenal. Every vocalist brought incredible power and range, and quite honestly, it felt like Broadway-level talent across the entire ensemble. The visual production was equally captivating. The set design transformed constantly through changing colors, animated projections, and moving stage pieces that kept the audience fully immersed from beginning to end. The humor woven throughout added even more charm and made the experience feel joyful as well as powerful. It was a meaningful reminder about recognizing your own worth and power. It was entertaining, visually stunning, and emotionally uplifting. Bravo!!!

Our server Dee had the personality and energy that would have us coming back as regulars if we were local. My Aggie hat drew the attention of what turned out to be the owner Justin. I was with a large party and we were seated on an outdoor deck area that overlooks a lovely greenbelt and the Colorado river. I was uncertain about outdoor seating in June, but they had lots of fans that dispense a light mist to help cool the area. The drinks were excellent, I had a margarita on the rocks with tajin rim and it was tasty and refreshing. The food was fabulous! I highly recommend the meatballs. Everyone in our party could not get enough of them. I will be back to try the wings, they looked delish. Misty was our server and I am still in awe over her. She went out of her way to make sure everyone in our (very large) party was taken care of. There were dozens of us and I'm not even sure how she managed to do it but I realized afterwards, I never waited long for anything. Misty was always nearby and so kind and attentive. Im not sure how she took care of so many people at once, it was amazing, honestly. Ive never seen such efficiency and I don't know how she did it. I hope I'm lucky enough to see her again when I go back to sample those wings!

While I don't like the venue as much these days since the staff downstairs is overly aggressive if you aren't "within the lines", it's still a great place to catch bands in a tiny outdoor venue (just don't drink so much that you fight back like I saw someone do tonight). Tonight was a lot of fun but that one staffer kept pushing people back out of the walkway if they didn't listen after the first time he asked them. Unnecessary. Luckily they don't do that on nights when it's less crowded, but honestly they should never be putting their hands on patrons. As far as food...i think they have a hot dog thing on July 4th weekend and a pancake party during SXSW but otherwise you won't get food here. But they have in and outs if you are over 21 . And the beer prices aren't horrible if you're here on a night with a good band. They are high though any other night for just hanging out (and you should drink elsewhere).
