Update: My son had an appointment today and needed to have impressions taken for a new retainer. He has had these done twice before and really struggled with it. He suffers from anxiety and, like a lot of people, the dentist can be a very nerve-wracking experience especially when receiving a service that he doesn't enjoy. Eyrusalem took the impressions today and did an absolutely phenomenal job. She kept him calm and distracted and had so much patience with. Great Hill Dental always provides a great experience but this particular appointment was exceptional.

Because these people failed to accurately do my medical intake - I almost had a 5k dollar expenditure. I had been a patient at GHDP-Somerville for nearly 10 years. My first dentist was fantastic, he left. My second dentist, fantastic, he left. My subsequent dentists all mediocre to poor. I had a number of primary dentists here, so many changes to my service that I lost track of how many there were. The quality of hygienists, awful. Cleanings took longer stopped being comprehensive - my last cleaning I had to remind the hygienist they missed the entire bottom left of my mouth. The last... and I mean absolute last straw was my experience with Dr. Tsering DMD. I finally decided to move on. After my cleaning, they discovered I had a filling that had failed\broken and were intent on fixing it. As they started taking my blood pressure, I noted several times to the hygienist that they had my sleeve in the pressure cuff, so they weren't going to get an accurate response. I also insisted on them using a larger cuff (I have larger biceps and triceps) to get an accurate reading - they refused, ignored everything I said... and got a bonkers blood pressure reading. They insisted on me getting a primary care visit before they would fill the cavity. A month goes by, I cannot get an appointment. I tried to get it scheduled and was rather rudely dismissed by "Patrick" at the front desk when I called and explained that the tooth needed to be addressed. This was just before Christmas, it took me until mid February (nearly four months from the start) to get a new primary care dr. and a visit who said... the same thing every one of my doctors has ever said "Make sure they are using a right size cuff" I switched to another dentist closer to home - he filled the cavity last week and to quote him "You're lucky, I was barely able to fill this it may still need a root canal, we should watch this very closely" Go literally ANYWHERE ELSE

The dentist, Dr…read more Saroha, was amazing and went out of her way to deliver friendly, pain-free, tooth-sparing dentistry. I even recommended them to my parents who both signed up. Then weird things started happening. I got billed for work that wasn't performed, they tried to charge me for x-rays clearly covered by my insurance, doubled-down and said I owed them money when I insisted it was covered, and then claimed "they deal with so many insurance plans they can't keep all of them straight" when I finally pulled up the plan myself and showed them. My parents got hit with "lab fees" that their insurance company said should have never been charged under their contract with the dentist. Lots of other "billing errors" that. Once is a mistake, but something was off basically every visit. Oh! And you get a "billing fee" every time their office screws up, which is fun. If I were a conspiracist, I might say that the office is struggling and they're trying to sneak in extras that patients are unlikely to notice. However, it can also be explained by a few bad hiring choices for office administrators. When I left the practice, I called to get a copy of my x-rays for the new dentist. The office assistant sent a collection of THUMBNAILS of the x-rays. Like, tiny grainy pictures for the new dentist. They got angry and insisted that they couldn't get me any other format, and that the files were just really small when exported and that they had never had an issue with it before. After some heated back and forth, the office assistant described the menu she was seeing in the software, I suggested things she could try to export them, she finally exported the images individually as high-resolution jpgs and sent them to me. Seriously, they hired morons. My family and I have left the practice.

(She is not selling you anything....I don't even think they sell products there.) I felt very comfortable with Diane. She was very patient and reviewed all my x-rays with me. Dr. Cho is so kind and unassuming. He is friendly, gentle and has a good sense of humor. He has never told me I need dental work that I don't need as has happened to me at another place. I trust him and his team. The building they are in is conveniently located. There is plenty of on street parking and there is a small parking lot in the back of the building. I went to another dentist, and he was able to remedy the situation for a fraction of that cost and with a much less invasive procedure. The last straw was my interaction with the periodontist. He "consulted" with me by literally not looking in my mouth and uttering 2 sentences. Then he seemed angry that I didn't consent to have my tooth extracted during that "consultation." It's been several years now, and I still have the tooth. It didn't need to be extracted. Take from that what you will.

That meant that I had to waste *more* time going through my history. Worryingly, the technician initially misrecorded multiple of my medications in dosage and name, not great for medical records. Zero signs of PPE in the office, none of the equipment was wrapped in plastic (dangerous since they were exposing myself and others to bodily fluids when taking X-rays in this way) and the 20 year-old X-ray machine looked especially poorly maintained. Left my skin tingling. Speaking of which, I had to pay +$100 for X-rays that were in no way necessary to what I was there for, I guess just padding the bill? The doctor himself was...fine, I guess. Wore his mask below his nose and told me nothing that I didn't already know about my condition. I will say he did provide me a pretty accurate estimate of how much my potential surgery would cost-except my insurance provider then gave me a different number that was almost $1,000 cheaper! Don't walk, run away from this office. Pretty bummed out because I think they provide care to underserved communities and I wish the standards were higher.
