After several chats, then a costly ($1,582.45) visit to Tesla Santa Clara-Northwestern Parkway, Fernando installed a new sheet of Expel XR Black Ceramic to my new rear backlite glass for no charge, as promised. As first reported, my rear defroster ribbons were damaged pre-install. This Tesla service center claims this to be wear and tear for a 2018 M3, even when simply cleaning the rear glass. Online chats and Tesla forums will show that some Tesla service centers will cover this defroster failure for no charge as "goodwill" or "defect," -- just not "warranty." My apologies to Fernando as when he said "cleaning," he really meant a simple cleaning of the glass prior to install! It could have happened to anyone -- including me. It was not clear to me at the time what could have happened to cause this type of damage. My bad for the misunderstanding. (I suppose the takeaway here is it's best to get your car tinted when the rear defroster is new, not after years of sitting in the sun.) And, after further review of my original invoice, Fernando did give me a cash discount as a gesture of goodwill. I look forward to returning to GSAG&T to get my other vehicles tinted.

Firstly, I have…read morebeen to ACJ before with my 2015 Civic and got front and back windows tinted with carbon 20% and it was great other than fading on the front tips of the tint where the window was covered by the rubber seals and that is why I returned. THE QUOTE: Through Yelp message they gave me a quote for my Tesla though I did not provide % I wanted. When I arrived for my appointment, they told me 30% was only available in ceramic - price was more than quoted. THE MAIN PROBLEM: the ceramic tint is green and my stock tint on the rear windows are brownish. I can definitely notice when looking at the car from the side. I just feel like they should have known and could have told me about the color difference since they have tinted Teslas before. NOW WHAT? I can probably go back and have the tint replaced under warranty since there are a few small bubbles. I was told they can replace with different tint % only if lower or same cost. BUT they will take longer for warranty work since its unpaid - prob over an hour. I just don't feel like waiting so I guess I will live with it for now...

I went to a friend of a friend's shop (supporting an up and coming business ) to get an XPEL tint. They applied it so horribly that I couldn't stand it. Bubbles everywhere (after ~4 days in the sun), so much lint stuck under the film, and more scratches than on my phone's screen protector. I came back to ACJ (this would be my 5th car with them) because I know they would do me right. The gentleman assisting customers at the front of the office is legit -- Doesn't pressure to get one tint over the other. Presented the options they had and didn't tell me to replace my horribly done tints from the other shop. Humble enough to even say, "we don't bad mouth another shop's work." The tint came out perfect, per usual -- ACJ has always done a stellar job with my cars. They provide Llumar, 3M, and Suntek. Llumar IRX is what I got, 5% in rear and 30% in front.
