I got knotless box braids installed after not having braids for probably two decades. I'm extremely tender-headed and Migraine prone. However I started transitioning in March and I was in desperate need of a protective style. I could have fallen asleep in her chair she was so gentle. Dee Dee also follows up with after care instructions which I also appreciated. I will definitely be back in a couple of weeks as the big chop is not for me!

First the place is so sloppy, and messy. On this particular day there was hair left in piles everywhere. While the ladies here may be talented they do not take in consideration the client. We are ladies and as such we appreciate a well-maintained space. In one instance when a client publicly said they were unhappy with what they were getting she was set upon by the hair braiders who argued her down telling her to forget about what she wanted because what she's getting is better. Third there is a constant influx of street merchants hustling their wares. From food, to jewelry, socks, scarves, even drug store products. TOO MUCH... when you add the raucous conversations of the braiders in their language that is on a CONSTANT back and forth It's just like being on the street corner rather than a hair salon. Lastly, I watched braiders pick hair up that's fallen to the floor and put it into their clients hair. As it stands I will never come back to this place nor will I recommend it to anyone. The stylist applied the relaxer to the mid shaft of my hair, before going back to do the ends, then a third round for the roots. As you can imagine, the mid shaft section throughout my hair is significantly overprocessed, while the ends and roots are severely underprocessed, essentially still 4b/c. After neutralizing and seeing the outcome, her plan was to go right back in and re-relax the ends during the same visit (!), which I politely declined. It's now been two days and I just washed my hair and could weep. I anticipate significant breakage in the coming weeks/months, and I'm mentally preparing myself for the inevitable big chop that's around the corner. I really wish they had been forthcoming about not being comfortable with relaxer application, seeing as they are a natural hair salon. If you are looking to relax your hair, pls take this as a warning- do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Thanks.

I work in Harlem so traveling g uptown was not a problem for me at all. I made the appointment for the same day and when I arrived , Danny started right on time! My hair was really dry and tangled because I didn't wash it in a month. Danny took her time and detangled my hair and was very very gentle with it. She suggested a partial sew in and gave me tips on matching my hair (she suggested dyeing it) as well as how to care for it while on vacation. Fast forward to today and my hair looks amazing! From the moment Krystal sat me down in the chair, I felt at ease - she asked whether I was comfortable or if she was braiding too tight, explained to me what she was doing every step of the way, and provided great conversation (and music!) in the meantime.
