Every time we are more than satisfied with the service (they couldn't be more helpful) and the product (always very straight forward and quality) but our last order really showed why we keep coming back. We ordered 1.5 yards of river rock to top off some landscape at our rental and unfortunately there was an error based on the size of rock. We called and were lucky enough to get Tanner on the phone. After some phone calls and photo exchange, Tanner offered to load up his truck with an additional yard of stone and deliver is 30 minutes later. He arrived solo and helped unload our rock by hand with a shovel Talk about exceptional service. He was kind, helpful and obviously an exceptionally hard worker. Great selection and prices, and staff was very kind. We pulled up and were immediately greeted. The gentleman helping us asked what we were looking for and showed us a few options and then let us look around. Things were very well organized and we did not feel overwhelmed with options, but also had a great amount to choose from. Stone is rock. And increasingly rock is concrete. This is a small family owned business that stocks landscaping stone and concrete pavers - geometric interlocking concrete blocks for making paths, patios and driveways. A helpful and solid source for the things that might improve your yard, garden; and raise your feet above the muck on patios and paths. Amazing selection of stone and gravel. My wife and I had no problem finding an overwhelming variety of beautiful decorative stones and boulders for our rock garden. The employees could not have been more friendly or accommodating, even letting us hold a couple decorative sitting rocks while we decided on the rest of the landscape. Ben made the order process easy for us and the order was delivered promptly. The driver was able to position the really big boulders close to the mark so that placing them was easy for my wife and I. Great place with great employees. Not that it matters to much to the review, but they were also conveniently close to us, just on Division st, which made it a big plus for us. read more

This place has the worst systems in place. No kinder they get no business. The worst customer service and by far the worst manager. I went in to get about 6 recycle bins of river rock. (18 x 5 gallon buckets) they want you to fill your 5 gallon bucket load it onto a cart and pull the cart to your car, where you then dump it in your recycle bin... 18 times! The first time I went I met the lovely owner who ok'ed the young men to help me load up the buckets, I was allowed to drive my car back and he even moved his big scooper. Today I learned that the manager went to the owners wife and the kid who helped me got his ass chewed and spit out. Because he told me to move my truck and the boys helping me told him that the boss ok'd it. He was butt hurt and was visibly upset that I was going against "the rules". I have 4 homes in the Portland area and am always mulching or adding rock or building slate patios. I do not care that this place is so close. I will go to the place I have been going to for the last 18 years now. Mount Scott on SE Foster rd. I do not care if they are further away or more expensive. Customer service is bar none and they are organized, their systems are in place. They have great insurance and aren't cheap to get insurance. All about stone sucks. Good place. I called around. Their prices were competitive and the customer service was great.

Our house came with a beautiful flagstone patio out back, which we quickly discovered was thrown in quickly to sell the house, and was not at all functional. It was all wonky and had giant gaps between the stones that caused chair legs to sink 6 inches upon sitting. Needless to say, we tore it up and re-purposed the flagstone around the yard, leaving a big dirt square where there should have been a patio. We just now got around to redoing it this summer, and you wouldn't believe the back-and-forth plans and indecision involved before we finally settled on some classic pavers. We spent an afternoon wandering around All About Stone, laying out different patters with different stones, calculating costs, etc. before making a decision and placing an order. The staff were friendly and helpful without being annoying as we looked at our options. They were ready with advice and guides for getting it done right and made sure we had all the right products. They were able to deliver exactly when we wanted with no issue - Friday afternoon, so we'd be ready to start working first thing Saturday. And when I expressed concern about paying for multiple days on an equipment rental the owner offered to only charge us for one day, as long as we returned it first thing Sunday morning. That was pretty major as we worked well past closing time on Saturday. At the end of our project, between over ordering so we wouldn't run out, and making the patio smaller than planned, we had a bunch of extra pavers. We were pretty sure we'd be stuck with them and were planning which neighbors to try to unload them on, but called the store anyway to see if we could possibly return them, and they were awesome and took them back. There was a small restocking fee, which was expected considering moving brick around is a bit of a pain in the ass, but it wasn't much, and we were happy to have the extras off our hands. The prices are little bit higher than Lowe's, but the product is a lot better. The pavers we used were a few cents per piece cheaper at Lowes, but the Lowe's ones weren't as nice. At Lowe's they were just rectangular bricks, whereas what we got at AAS had notches to insure proper spacing, and had a nicer looking surface. And of course the customer service was above and beyond. We will definitely do businesses again. The delivery guy helped with tips to move our hundred plus pound boulders, he left the pallets so we could take our time and is coming back to take them so we don't have to discard them. I worked with this company on doing a very large arizona Flagstone patio project. I visited many of the local suppliers for assistance for different thlings. This company is by far the best source for approachable friendly help and diversity of choice. It supply's many of the hard to find products that are needed for some very complicated projects. The layout is nice for looking at the rock and they have unusual choices as well as the basics. The pricing is good and the experience each time I went was excellent. All of the sealers, tools, cleaners are right there for the finishing and maintenance of whatever you might be working on! The only problem I have is they are a long way from my area! But worth it. I really appreciate the knowledge and help they gave us. read more

I purchased pavers from them and when I had to return a couple of weeks later for a few more pavers, they WERE OUT! Impossible to finish the project now. I have to take out the pavers I just put in, give them away, then purchase another batch (not from these guys) from another place. Since I am elderly, I had to pay someone to provide this service. Now I have to pay for them to undo it, lose money on the pavers I can't use, then buy more and have them reinstalled. No, I won't be returning to purchase anything else from this company and unless you are SURE you have the right amount of product to finish your project, go elsewhere! Unless you are rich and like to be ticked off. read more

Sheila and Jerry, the owners, are usually onsite. They share a deep knowledge of the materials that they have developed over a lifetime of loving stone. Jerry took the time to help us find the right flagstone for our project. He regularly visits the quarries out of state to understand what materials are available and to be sure the quality is high. Very poor service. I went to buy some river rock, and instead of using a 5 gallon bucket, I was going to use a wagon, since the last time I was there, they would not let me drive my truck to the bin, offered no help, and we had to carry the buckets the 50 yards back to the truck. If you have ever carried a 5 gallon bucket full of rocks, its pretty damn heavy. Before we got half way to the bay, we were approached by an employee and the first thing she said was "did you get approval for that?" No "hello", no "can I help you", it was more like what are you doing here...When I told her we did not have a bucket, her response was a curt "we don't sell it that way". I asked if we could borrow a bucket and fill up the wagon that way she said "we don't sell buckets, you can go to Lowe's or Home Depot." I didn't want to buy a bucket, I wanted to buy some rock. There was no attempt to try and work out a solution, just no bucket, no rock...Needless to say, we left and will never return. With service like that, it is obvious why I was the only customer on the lot. read more

They've got good selection of the stone BUT buyers please be aware. I had issue with my recent order. 1) I ordered three pallets of 6-8" ledge stone from them. Two of them I hand selected at the store had no issue. The third one was ordered over the phone and delivered at the same time with the rest. It was clearly marked on the invoice that this pallet should be same size with the rest. That's not the case. The package of this particular pallet made it looks like the rest, but what wrapped inside the pallet is much smaller size stone (most between 3-5" size) which is inconsistent with the product description, only to be found out at job site after open up the pallet. "Product delivered not as described"! 2) Requested refund and exchange. They said they will charge me 20% restocking fee, and documented that on the invoice of replacement order. I was stuck and had no other options to complete my job and had to accept it. 3) Upon received my return product, they charged me 25% restocking fee. Different than the invoice says. Luckily I took a lot of photos as evidence so I will file BBB complaint if this can not be resolved. read more

I like their diverse selection, and they are kind and patient on the phone and ready to help when you arrive. How do they do that?? This place had all the materials we needed, base material, stepping pavers, decorative stone. We made several trips with the pickup taking small loads for each phase of the project over three days. The guys here were friendly and helpful, even solved a stone cutting problem for us. Really loved our whole experience with these guys. Whenever we have a stone, gravel, sand, paver, mulch, bark dust, etc. need in the future, All About Stone will be our first (and likely) last stop. Beyond great selection and competitive prices, the service is top notch. Skip the big box stores; skip the places see themselves as just suppliers but whose sales people haven't actually done projects in their own backyards. All About Stone was *invaluable* in helping us figure out more than a couple of key pieces to our project (laying two areas of pavers connected by gravel paths), including helping us save several hundred bucks by smart ordering. We worked with Ben and Libby and I didn't catch the delivery driver's name, but all were top notch. This is the place to go. We live in St. Johns and All About Stone was well worth the drive. BOO to this company!!! Our contractor picked out some plain round rocks for our yard and was charged more because he hand picked them! He picked them out and actually did the physical moving and loading and she charged him more per pound because she said he hand picked them. The sign states they are so much per ton and said nothing about being charged because you hand pick them. Go down the street to Stone Depot, much nicer people and they don't do stuff like I mentioned above. Ridiculous and very petty! read more
