The second occasion went like this:
Sunday evening, April 18, 2021 my car didn't start so I got my car towed to them. I had already been scheduled for my regular oil change which was in two days-- Tuesday April 20, 2021. I left a voicemail that evening letting them know that I was dropping my car off because it wouldn't crank and that I believe that my starter went out. I said this because I did not want to undergo a diagnostic due to the fact it's expensive, I come frequently and I had a diagnostic done in one of my previous visits.
Mind you, as I've mentioned before, I've been a regular customer for a while. I got a diagnosis on November 22, 2020. That list included a lot: Brake fluid flush, fuel system check, power steering fluid leak, a wheel alignment, A valve cover gasket leak and a new battery. lengthy, i know--I keep all documents concerning my car as anyone should.
I buy all of my auto parts from advance auto parts in able to use their warranty. I then replaced my battery in November of 2020.
April 19, 2021 Helen, another administrative clerk, left me a message telling me that leaving my car was okay and that they would figure out what's going on. I called back to touch bases, I spoke with Helen and she assured me that we were just playing catch-up, and that they'd see me at my scheduled time tomorrow(10 AM.)
The morning rolls around and I am awakened from my sleep at precisely 8:45 AM to Noah informing me that my car was starting without any issues. Me, relieved-- I sigh and then proceeded to say I assumed my starter went out because ALL 4 TIRES had it listed on my Nov 2020 diagnosis. Noah then assured me that the 30 point inspection would be able to see if my starter is in need of a replacement. (DISCLAIMER: I purchased GROUPON vouchers which is a bundle price for an oil change and 30 pt inspection) I'm thinking, awesome. Noah tells me he'll give me a call back once they start working on it.
I missed the next call at 9:07 AM because I went back to sleep.
Woke up and returned the call at 9:08 AM, Noah said that my starter is actually good to go, and that I need a battery. Again, relieved, I sigh and say oh okay, that easy. He told me I'm also missing a lug nut blah blah blah, and then he said that they have another battery they can test in my car to confirm the battery theory. And that he would give me a call afterwards. A five minute call, time elapses and I'm wondering what's taking so long if he's just doing a quick in-and-out with the battery.
I call back at 9:44 AM to inquire about the call i was supposed to receive and the administrative clerk: Nicole told me to call back in one hour... the fuck? No. my oil change should be done. Inspection should be too, so why? I just replied, "OK." and waited one hour. (this was a 48 second call)
I didn't receive a call until 1:54 PM letting me know that my car was ready to be picked up.
I walk to ALL 4 TIRES and go inside. Noah greeted me, Nicole greeted me, everything was fine. Noad rang me up and said the total is $392. That is the cost of the OX battery that's "the perfect and only fit" for my car, the oil change as well as a DIAGNOSIS. I begin to talk to Noah like I didn't need a new battery, the one I came with is currently under warranty. My battery also shouldn't be dead after only five months and even SO-- that I never asked for a diagnosis.
He then acted like we never spoke on the phone, acted as if I wasn't clear with what I did and didn't He said they could take off a percentage leaving me at $312. I continued to say I want my old battery back and I never requested a diagnostic. Noah says they cannot remove the battery once it's been installed because it's a liability. I let him know that disclaimers and warnings are something you give prior to giving a service NOT after. So fuck that and put my battery back. We argue, he leaves to talk to management. I'm waiting in the office. Nicole asks me what's going on. I tell her I just want to check out and leave. I catch up to her on current events as She rings me up: $312. Saying that it is a discounted price. I DONT GIVE A DAMN THIS IS NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR NOR DID I APPROVE THIS. Nicole then told me that this situation is "He said, she said" so in order for them to reimburse me, or accommodate me is for her to go over the recorded phone calls. I felt that was a cop out because I spoke directly to her and to Noah so why do I have to wait for a ruling? After bickering back and forth I get so flustered I leave in anger. I come back ten mins later, after seeking counsel from my mother, asking them to remove the battery one final time. Nicole then says they only keep records on INCOMING CALLS ONLY. but of the conversations i had with this business was OUTGOING CALLS from their end! They still give me trouble but I wasn't about to get taken advantage of. Finally they put my old battery back, I paid for the oil change and diagnostic and left.. I went straight to advanced auto parts and got my battery, read more
