Longer version (for the brave) - my friend has gave me his bicycle- the seat was too high and the lights were broken, as I'm completely clueless about these things I was sure wherever I'll go to someone will try to rip me off. A quick search has ended in this shop which is down the street, the seat was too high and my lights were really messed up, they re-wired the whole thing for a fair price. And lowered the seat a couple of times until I was pleased. Don't let the looks of the shop fool you - despite its "simpleness" the people who work here are nice and helpful, and they will answer your questions with patience and listen to your problems. Came back the day after as I thought it's not working, and I was a bit angry, but then realized the problem was me - as the Dynamo was just not touching the wheel because I didn't push it, silly me :) Anyway, got a quick explanation and even help with other bike- related issues I've had. I popped into this bike shop and the older man said that it will be ready tomorrow and the cost will be 25-30€. However, I visited the shop again today morning to take my bike, which was fixed, but the older guy asked me for 35€. There after, I replied that this is not the amount that we agreed upon but he was offensive saying that this is the price and so on. Eventually, I gave him the money because I needed to take my bike. My recommendation: Keep away from this bike shop!

Whereas other bike shops…read moretried to persuade me to part with loads of money for a repair or, even worse, for a completely new bike, the guys at Ostrad gave me sound advice, sold me the part I needed, helped with a tricky bit and didn't charge me over the odds. What's more, they helped me straight away, although they were pretty busy on a Saturday. I'll go back to them any time, as I know they can be trusted and won't take advantage of you. Nett, hilfsbereit und kompetent! Immer gerne wieder. Hier weiß man, dass man nicht über's Ohr gehauen wird und das Personal Ahnung von der Sache hat. Als ich daraufhin mit Mitarbeiter sagte, dass ich das nicht in Ordnung finde, kam keine Entschuldigung, sondern nur "ich gebe es weiter" und "Ich nehme es zur Kenntnis". Kundenfreundlichkeit sieht für mich anders aus. Keine Transparenz, ich fühlt sich für mich nach reiner Abzocke an. Der Laden ist nicht zum empfehlen.

You are allowed to keep the bikes the entire day you rent them, plus into anytime the next day - if you rent them early the first day and return them late the second day, that is nearly two days of a bike rental for the price of one! Great deal. Staff was very kind and friendly. My bike lock broke (my fault, I crashed and broke the key) and they happily took the bike back, offered a replacement bike, and did not charge me extra. Highly recommend for bike rentals!!

The store is not to bike, but they have a decent selection from low budget second hand bikes to high end bikes. When getting a new bike the montage of custom modifications (e.g. different tires) is free, and they even deducted the price of the dismantled pieces from the final price (e.g. original tires on new bike 10EUR, custom tires for new bike 30EUR, just pay 20EUR extra). Also they offer a free check-up for new bikes (but make sure you keep their timeframe).

They replaced the…read moretube quickly and relatively painlessly, except that the gear cable was reinstalled incorrectly so the gears didn't work when I got the bike back, but it was easy enough to fix that I could do it myself. Second time around, I had a ticking noise in my handlebars and asked them about fixing it. They noticed that my chain was a bit loose and suggested they do an annual checkup as well for about 30€ (don't remember precisely). It sounded like a good idea, as long as they also fixed the ticking. They didn't manage to do that though, but managed to tighten the chain as tight as a guitar string so it would rattle and grind as I biked. So I went back with the bike to have that looked at, and they told me a story about wear and tear and that the bike was just fine as it was. Only after googling the problem did I realise that the chain was too tight and fixed it myself. I have no idea what else they did for the 30€ except tighten the brake cables (which I would have been able to do myself in 30 seconds). Went to another shop to fix the ticking for 14€. Conclusion: Go to another shop first.

They were super responsive, sending pictures and information and helping weigh pros and cons. They put the bike I was interested in on hold, and I came by to test it out. The process was seamless, and I bought the bike. They kept it a few days to check it over in the shop and make sure it was ready for me, and then I picked it up. The bike has been great, but unfortunately, after more than a year of daily use, the derailleur somehow got bent. They told me to swing by and I did. The person in the shop took a look, straightened it out, refilled my air, and I was on my way in 15 minutes. Great, straightforward service from people who know and love bikes.
