Stalks & Stems - They now sell individual Graze snacks - brilliant idea!

Flowers, I don't know so much about. What I do know is that the stems part of this Southside…read moreinstitution stocks lots of nice, colourful ones and has them set them out in a regimented manner which suggests the owners know the difference between a flower and a weed. They're one step ahead of me then. However, it was the stalks section which most appealed to me. With a fantastic range of fruit and veg, this place is a more modern take on Roots and Fruits, its West End equivalent, with less of the achingly-hip contrived hippy vibe. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, the music is upbeat and lively, adding to the unpretentious atmosphere, while the produce is reasonably priced and as fresh as it possibly can be. I particularly recommend checking out the wide range of fruit juices they have on offer. All this and not a dreadlock in sight.

There were two members of staff on duty, one was busy with a customer (presumably the owner), the other was not. I tried in vain to get the attention of the non-occupied person to no avail, and stood. And stood. And stood. I eventually left 10 mins later and bought my buttonhole flower from the much friendlier and cheaper (£3.50 compared to £5) florist on Minard Rd. Manners cost nothing, a "i'll be with you in 5 minutes, take a seat" o something similar was all it would have took. Instead I was treated like nothing. Utterly ignorant, and shameful. I will NEVER buy anything ftom this place again. Avoid if you value good customer service.

Shawlands, South Side

What a lovely wee shop - without Jennie & Taco's reviews, I never would have found this place. It'd…read morebeen sitting in my bookmarks for a while and yesterday made for the perfect opportunity to finally visit. As the others have said, it's off the main road in Shawlands but it would take less than 2 minutes to walk there, so it's worth a diversion. It's a sweet gift shop with a focus on sewing stuff too - you can learn how to make your own cushion covers, for example. I was in looking for a little housewarming gift and card for a friend and loved having a nosey around while the woman working offered me helpful suggestions and showed me some of the new stuff they had in. They have a big range of stuff; from jams and fudge, to candles, prints, kids clothes/toys, lovely fabrics and cushions, bunting and some jewellery bits and bobs. I liked how it's all presented and easy to find something nice without too much bother - I ended up just grabbing a card (The Grey Earl batboy card) and a wee tote bag as a present which was under a tenner. Definitely pay this shop a visit next time you're in the area!

It's a nice wee shop which sells locally-made crafts and things. Everything from bags and ornaments to candles and jam (including some red pepper and chilli jam which I had to buy). Great place to look for nice crafty gifts for people.
