We did purchase a lavender spray which is going to provide good energy in our lives that can be sprayed in your car/house/on your self. You'll truly have many photo ops - you can pretty much follow the trails along the botanical garden which will be located below from the shop. They sold many things & offer coffee or tea. The lavender farms themselves were stunning! Honestly it was far more than lavender; there were so many varieties of flowers- like a botanical garden. I'm only giving four stars for two reasons: 1. Although they hand you a very detailed map, the paths are not very well marked. 2. I wish they would allow you to enjoy a picnic lunch on the property. There are signs that say no outside food. Side note-- we have a wagon for the kids and the parking lot was incredibly steep. It was hard to drag it through the lavender farm as well. So I would say it's not very stroller/wagon friendly. read more

I really enjoyed this Lavender farm- not just because I LOVE lavender, but because I love peaceful gardens. There's a $3 entrance fee and as others have mentioned, the parking lot is on an incline. There were some drawbacks. First off, it was off season so I'm bummed to miss out on the lush fields of lavender. It's kinda far from Lahaina and we only stayed for about an hourish because it's small. Given those things, I'm still happy to have gone. It was not crowded, so very peaceful to walk around and the simplicity of the gardens was nice. The shop and cafe was quaint. I got a lavender scone and lavender tea. The scone was good, the tea was just ok. Come for a peaceful time and enjoy the lavender haze. read more

This was one of our first stops in Maui and it was so lovely! We visited in October 2022 and there weren't tours available or a ton of lavender growing up the hill - it seems that they're at the beginning of replanting a lot after the pandemic. Still we had a wonderful time exploring the gardens, seeing plants we've never seen before and smelling the fresh lavender that was there. Entrance is $3, cash only - or you can purchase parking in the gift shop if you only have a card like we did. I love that you can also bring a nonperishable food pantry donation and that will count as your entrance fee. We found a spot but the parking lot did fill up quickly. The gift shop was beautiful and full of locally made items that made for great souvenirs. They also have a little coffee shop inside. No one tells you how peaceful and serene this place is! Yes, it's a pretty long winding trek up to the farm but it's worth it!! We were only in Maui for the day and only planned to go to the gift shop and maybe see some lavender and honestly...I wish we had more time. Parking is kinda less than ideal if you don't like being at an incline but can't help since the farm is on an incline lol. We paid to get in and took a little stroll to a deck that gave you really amazing views of the property and what lies below...Jae dropping! There is a 10 person limit in the shop but the ladies there are very friendly and give you a little history lesson on the farm and how it became...which always amazes me on how any starts a business. Shop has pretty cool products (lavender related of course) and at a pretty reasonable price! Would definitely go again to walk the whole farm! read more

My family and I spent a perfect April afternoon strolling around the gardens and perusing the many unique and high-quality offerings at the gift shop. I finally made it up to Ali'i Kula Lavender for the first time even after living on the island all these years. The farm is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and the grounds are self guided. Entry is currently complimentary but you can make a donation if you can. Lots of beautiful flowers that were in bloom and being so high up the temperature was comfortable. The gift shop is open and they are practicing safe social distancing protocols. If you check in on Yelp, you can get a free cup of hot tea. A must go when you're visiting Maui especially if you have kids. We are visiting from Oahu & this was on our bucket list. From entrance to gift shop staff are so welcoming, nice, and showed Aloha. So many beautiful views, flowers, & lavender! :) My kids enjoyed looking at the different flowers & taking pictures. When you walk into the gift shop, it smells amazing! Lavender everything everywhere which I LOVE! Who doesn't love Lavender? Must try the lavender scones with butter and lilikoi jelly, lavender tea and lemonade. So delicious especially eating it in a beautiful setting and looking at the view. Very beautiful, relaxing environment. A few things we wish they had: -labels for each flower or tree so we'd know what they were. (I believe they have a tour but we didn't know about it & maybe a scavenger hunt? Just overheard people talking and asking) -nicer bathrooms instead of porter potties -more travel size goodies :( I wanted to buy more gift from the gift shop but not planning to check in my bags. They do have order online option where they can ship to you -toasters were working cause our scones were cold and would have tasted a lot better hot. Especially since it was raining and cold outside. But it was still delicious. A plus you get 250 Hawaiian miles when you use your Hawaiian Credit card and spend over $100. Overall we still had a great experience and enjoyed ourselves. My favorite breakfast spot in Kula. You can't beat the views and light refreshments. There's a minimal entry fee (few bucks) but you can also bring canned goods instead. There are so many cute spots for photos, but I love to enjoy some tea and scones while soaking in the view. Pre-COVID they had toasters on the patio and allowed customers to try lavender honey and lavender lilikoi with the scones. Unfortunately they haven't resumed this. The scones are heavenly when warmed. Everyone there is nice and it's so peaceful. I always recommend it to those visiting. read more

A place to visit if you like lavender. Entrance fee was $3. They're in the process of replanting the older ones, so there's not much to see. We were admittedly a little skeptical of this lavender farm. It was right by the entrance to the summit sunrise at Haleakala National Park, so we decided to stop before going back to nap. Our hesitation was that it costs $3 per person to get in. While this isn't much, it just felt wrong to have to pay to get in to go to their lavender shop to spend more money. We actually really enjoyed ourselves. It was kind of a small botanical garden to explore which we really enjoyed. It was gorgeous and peaceful. There's a scavenger hunt you can do which they'll give you lavender cookies for completing. You also get free tea if you check in on Yelp. The shop has a lot of different lavender products. We bought lots of snacks. The scones were my favorite. The cookies with Lilikoi were really good too. Overall, this was a fun stop and ended up being worth the $3/person to get in. read more

I am writing a belated review for this lovely place, which I have visited on our last few trips to Maui and really enjoy. The lavender farm is a gorgeous place to walk around and enjoy nature. It has great views of the whole island due to its high elevation, and the array of different succulents, plants, and flowers makes for a relaxing walk. The actual lavender plants are joined by many other species of plants, so there is plenty to see. I even saw a chameleon here once, so you never know what you will encounter! Be sure to visit on your next trip, and maybe stop by the Kula Lodge for a drink or lunch while you are in the area. read more

Great lavender farm to visit, but ideally (as others have pointed out), it's best to visit in the late summer to fall months when the plants are in full bloom. Totally worth spending at least an hour at the farm; so much to see! Parking is $2.00 and I decided to do a self-guided tour, though there are guided tours available for extra fees. We enjoyed strolling through the lovely gardens. Enormous proteas, hydrangeas, monstera, hibiscus and many more tropical plants and flowers. We found secret serene spots-- patios, coves and overlooks to sit and soak in the peaceful silence or take in the mountaintop views of the Pacific Ocean, Kihei, Wailea and Maalalea Bay off in the distance! We were hoping to see some lavender fields, but from what the workers told us, the lavender had already been harvested for the summer, so there weren't any fields to see. However, there were plenty of lavender plants in the gardens to smell! A cute boutique gift store located in the main house had every kind of lavender scented product imaginable--soaps, spritz, oil essence, lotions, honeys, cookies, sanitizer, etc.---you get the idea! Also located inside the store was the cafe --lavender flavored hot and iced teas and coffees are available for purchase. The lavender fields in the UpCountry are amazing and definitely a must when on Maui. The property is on a steep hill and may be difficult to traverse but not impossible for those that may need assistance. There is a small entrance fee to the garden. Park in the designated area and start your self-guided tour around the grounds, using the map from the gate attendant. Stay on the trails, be mindful of your steps, and respect the garden. Private property borders the gardens, so please mind the signage. Once you are done outside, visit the shop for a lavender scone and other items. They have a check-in offer for a free cup of lavender tea. Take your scone and tea out to the porch, where you can toast it in a toaster oven. We added lavender honey to our tea and atop the scone, sat on the porch and enjoyed the peacefulness. It's simply heaven. Truly a magical place. Keep your eyes open in the native garden section to find some cool chameleons. They are friendly and will take a ride on your arm if you are lucky enough to find one. read more

Even though I'm from Maui, I never had the pleasure of visiting this farm. Finally had the time to check it out with my husband during "Christmas break". It's quite a drive up to Kula from Kahului. Be careful when you are getting closer to the farm as the road gets narrow and it's a two way road. Also, if there is heavy rains, please either drive safe or visit another day. More than likely they won't be open if it's bad weather. Parking is $2 a person on property. Bring a can good for each passenger and they will waive the fee. They proudly support the food bank. We pre-booked the walking tour for $10 each ($2 discount if booked online early). Go on their website and check out their different tours. You'll learn about Ali'i and how he started up the lavender farm. I don't want to spoil it, so you'll have to check it out yourself. ;) Since it was not lavender season (winter months), the tour was primarily about the other plants that are on property. May-September would be the time to visit for prime lavender months. My favorite part was the smells on the farm. Everything smelled awesome while walking the property. My wife and I really enjoyed our visit here. The attached photo explains why. On a clear day the view from Ali'i Kula Lavender is simply breathtaking. There are beautiful gardens here with of course plenty of lavender and lots of other flowers too. The shop has lots of interesting lavender products. We bought a lavender spray which is supposed to help you sleep at night. We also got a lavender flavored tea and coffee --- and enjoyed them while looking at the view. In this Week in Maui there is a coupon to give you free admission and a free coffee or tea. A couple of cautions though: the road to the entrance is very steep. The parking area is at a sharp incline --- I had to practically climb out of the driver's seat. And the garden itself is on a pretty steep slope. If walking up and down slopes is not your thing, please keep that in mind. There was a line to get into the gift shop when we were there --- possibly because it was a Saturday. But hey, there's the view and it is awesome. read more

My fiancé has been raving about this place and i'm not into the whole garden scene. The lavender farm is located on the way to Haleakala so the drive up is very relaxing as you are greeted with views of the island. When we arrived here, you check in at the security booth where you pay for parking. They do give Kamaaina rates, which is a dollar off the regular price so we ended up paying only $2. I was expecting more from this place, but was very disappointed. It's a nice place to take a walk through the garden and see the different flowers and plants they have growing. Most of the lavender was on the upper area where the parking is. Barely any on the little trail that they have at the main entrance. You do get a great view however so a lot of good back drops for pictures. It is great for families, so great to bring your kids here and take a walk through the area. They also have a small gift shop, they also sell drinks and tea there. This place wasn't really my kind of thing and most of the plants we see looked really sad. Trail could be maintained a little better. It's a self guided tour now since the pandemic. It maybe just that we came at the wrong time in the season for the lavenders. Since the place is high up, it's not too hot as it's a little cooler so you're not really sweating from all that walking. If lavenders are your thing you should come by this place. read more

If you're looking to spend some time outdoors checking out a variety of plant species, come to Ali`i Kula Lavender. There's a fee to get in (and kama`aina price, too), but there are some beautiful views, and you can bring a picnic and enjoy a nice time on the lawn. There's also a well-stocked gift shop that sells tons of lavender items (I don't recommend the lavender dark chocolate bar). They've got everything from tees to teas, and everything in between. They're a bit pricey, but if you're a lavender fan, you'll like their stuff. It smells heavenly, and with my Yelp check-in, I was lucky to receive a cup of hot lavender tea that was really nice. If AKL had marketed themselves as a botanical gardens instead of a lavender farm, I would have given 5 stars. Unfortunately, based on photos I had seen, I expected to see big fields of beautiful lavender rows. The lavender patch wasn't any bigger than a public swimming pool, and they were looking scraggly--maybe it's the off season. Regardless, based on the large number of folks there, they're still quite popular. Anyway, it's a nice place, parking is easy, you can look up and see paragliders coming down overhead. Kula is a bit off the beaten path, so do your research and you can stop at a couple other places in the area that you might enjoy as well. read more

The drive up to this is nice and scenic and just a little farther than Haleakala. Parking to this place is not for the elderly as almost 100% of parking is against a slope, and they only have 1-2 handicap parking spots - unfortunate since we came with my grandmother. The lavender fields were located above the parking lot and had a good view of the island and ocean, but most of the lavender were dried up and it was hard to smell. The estate itself has a wide variety of different plants which were nice to photograph with. The gift/tea shop has plenty of items that were lavender oriented. We ordered a cold lavender tea and lavender scone. The tea was alright and the scone was overtly lavender. Overall this place is nice to come and see if you've already done most of the other things the island offers or if you are on a budget as admission is priced right or can get in for free if you donate a non perishable food item. read more

Everyone knows visiting Hawaii is expensive. So its great when you can find something fun and affordable to do. Visiting the farm is only $3/per person. Which honestly in my opinion isn't that bad. They do offer walking tours for $12/per person, but honestly your fine without it. The views from the hillside is breathtaking. As you walk through the property there is nice benches and gazebos around to sit down and take a break. Besides the lavender fields, they do also have tropical flowers and other beautiful plants spread around the property as well. While your here, don't forget to check out the gift shop! I wanted to love all the lavender nibbles. Perhaps I prefer the smell of lavender to the taste. Didn't care much for the tea, or the brownie, and the scone was claggy. The cherry lilikoi lavender kombucha was incredible though. I'd go back, order three of those to stroll the beautiful flower beds, and skip l the baked goods. read more

This place is great to get a good view, explore the cooler tropical flora, proteas, ginger, succulents in addition to lavender. $3 entry fee per person, $1 off kama'aina/military. The entire property is on a steep hill, so if you have balance, walking issues, this is a tough place to truly enjoy. The shop is tiny, a bit expensive. For example, $35 for essential lavender oil, $30 chocolate truffle boxes, $6 chapstick. They do have unique lavender scones, manjoo, lemonades that you can enjoy on their deck seating area. It gets busy fast, lots of tourists. I'd recommend getting there early so you don't have to wait to get into the tiny shop, 10 person max, mask required for entry. read more

This place is one of my favorite places in Maui. I always make time to stop by when I'm visiting Maui. It's a nice, short and easy drive from Kihei (where we were staying). They charge #3 per person, which is reasonable. Lavenders start to bloom in July, so our timing was perfect. The flowers were absolutely beautiful and the view of Maui's isthmus was stunning (you're about 4000' above sea level). We had the Ice tea infused with lavender and the lavender scone, which he heated and glazed with some local honey with lavender. One word...AMAZING!!! We enjoyed our food while overlooking one of the best views possible. After we ate, we walked around the lavender fields and the garden enjoying tropical flowers. We sat at a bench under a tree and just relaxed or about an hour before we headed down the mountain. This place is a must visit when in Maui! read more

Lovely garden visit with some lovely views, but not a lot of lavender for our late June visit. This wasn't a lavender farm like we were expecting, I guess. Some lavender is planted near the gazebo area and other areas in pots. It's a bit out of the way, and I'm not sure that it's much of a working farm, but we saw flowers we don't normally see at home. We were ok, but if you have mobility issues I would not recommend this self-guided walk (not much of a tour as I don't think there was anyone in the gardens to discuss plants/flowers).
