If you're looking to dine out in the city, need an affordable and enjoyable experience and want to tempt your tastebuds with some delicious Thai cuisine, I've found the perfect place!
Alice's Thai Restaurant, located in the heart of the city in Little Collins Street, offers a modern and wide selection of Thai treats. From banquets for couples and groups, to the popular favourites such as noodle soups and aromatic rice, Alice's is the kind of place where lovers of Asian cuisine, as well as more conservative food types can all find something on the menu to please the palate.
And as Alice's is located next to the historic and architecturally impressive Victoria Hotel, accessible directly from the hotel foyer, it has become a well-known and regularly frequented venue for visitors to the great city of Melbourne. Open on weekends for delectable buffet breakfasts, it's definitely my favourite place to go when I feel the need to indulge in a hearty day starter. I've long been a fan of enjoying a leisurely, weekend big breakfast, and since I experienced a buffet brekkie at Alice's a couple of years ago, I have not been able to go anywhere else.
The buffet with everything - is truly a buffet with everything, from traditional fave's like bacon and eggs, pancakes, and toast and cereals of all sorts, to the full shebang with mushrooms, pastries, fruits of all varieties, tomato, hash browns, baked beans, apple, orange, pineapple and tomato juice, tea and coffee. For around $15 you'll leave breakfast not needing to spend another cent on food until the following week. Even if you're one of those people who regularly skips the first meal of the day, you won't be able to help but over indulge and spoil yourself. It's a buffet fit for Kings, and the management of the morning rush is something to be admired, with the buffet being maintained to exceptionally high standards ensuring the food is always fresh.
It's also one of the few places you can go in the heart of the city without booking for dinner, and I've never been there when it's been just too crowded or loud to enjoy the company I'm in. As Alice's is often the restaurant of choice for patrons of the Victoria Hotel, it always offers an interesting mix of old and young, International and local diners, and with open views out on to Little Collins Street diners are able to sit back and enjoy the hum of the trendy fashion and designer strip. Adding to that is the attentive, non-intrusive staff, making Alice's ideal for a cruisy, relaxing dinner with drinks prior to an evening out, or after a big day of shopping. It also helps that Vic's Bar at the Vic Hotel is just through the side door and up a few steps, perfect if you want to ramp up the night following a delightful dinner experience.
