This was our first time going to a parking garage for lunch. We arrived around 1pm and there was a small line out the door but the wait was less than 20 minutes before we could be seated. There were two dining areas and we were seated in the larger more garage like one. Decor was very minimal with a tuk tuk in one corner and a decorated cart on the other and lots of painted metal tables and stools filled with hungry diners. There were quite a lot of choices on the menu and all reasonably priced starting at $10AUD and up. After choosing the soup then we picked from one of seven noodles types to add, style (soup versus dry) and any extras like more noodles, meat, etc. When we finally got seated, our table was a bit of a tight fit for us all. Once we figured out what we wanted, I got up and went over to the register to order and pay. The vegetarian laksa was quite good with a nice curry coconut soup and fried tofu. We also liked the Tom Yum with a large won ton and sliced pork belly. The boat noodles were our least favorite as the soup tasted a bit too medicinal. Portions were good for us. When we wrapped up lunch it was around 2:30 and the place was emptying out. Coming off hours or for an early lunch or dinner recommended to avoid a line.

In our foodie adventures in Melbourne, we came to soi 38 from a friend's recommendation. Getting there seemed a little shady especially from a tourist's point of view but it was all good! During prime lunch hours, we had to wait maybe 10 mins before we were seated. The space is actually quite big as the initial entrance has more seating in the alternative space. We were given papers we checked off what we wanted to order. I got the Tom yum Spicy and someone in my group got it in spicy. You write it down so they know. The unspicy one tasted better in my opinion. Someone also got the pork noodles and the server said it wasn't spicy but the person in my group who got it said it was really spicy. I tried it and it was definitely because the red peppers were there. The price is definitely reasonable for the location/interior/exterior. The pork belly was also really good. There is water that you can pour in the small cups provided. I could not figure out where the napkins were as I needed them to blow my nose from the spice. They are moving locations but I do hope they keep the quality of the ingredients and prices consistent. I will definitely recommend this place as a lunch spot for my friends that visit.

I went here for dinner. I ordered 1. Ultimate bowl (5/5) 2. Pork jowl (5/5) 3. Deep fried pork belly (4/5) 4. Deep fried chicken (4/5) One of my favorite Thai food in Melbourne. The queue might be very long during lunch or dinner time. I waited for about 30 minutes. Definitely will come back to this places. Staffs were friendly. Services were good. CONCLUSION = RECOMMENDED!!!

I'm not sure why there's so much buzz about this place but it's just average. I guess because it's in a parking garage appeals to those who want a "hidden gem" but in reality it's a perfectly average place. My favorites were the crispy pork belly which were really nice and crisp. Same with the crispy wonton skins. The Laksa and Crab Noodles were decent. Avoid the beef meatballs which were just rubbery and not flavorful.

Soi 38 is an authentic Thai restaurant. The menu is simple and so is the service. Menu options include raw papaya (som tum) salads, noodle dishes, deep fried meat, and hot pot. The venue is difficult to find as it is located under Wilson's carpark Plastic red and blue chairs and tables (colours of the Thai flag) are cramped inside the venue. Kitchen is open and you can see the chefs busy at work. Dishes are freshly cooked and served quickly. I had the mama fried pork dish which is instant noodles with soft yet deep fried pork in a sweet sour spicy sauce that tasted of tamarind. Delicious and affordable at $15 a plate. Pay via cash or card at the counter.

I made it before they closed at 3pm! It was a bit hard to find but because they have so many good reviews I just had to check it out when I was having late lunch. Theyre located in the parking garage. They only accept cash. Staff were friendly and told me no rush as I was happily slurping my vegetarian laksa. The food was so good and it's such a value for money.

I have a big statement to make: Soi 38 is giving Jinda Thai's noodles a run for its money. I actually don't know where I stumbled upon Soi 38, but for some reason I heard about this random carpark Thai noodle place in CBD and knew I had to check it out. It's not very easy to find this place, but it's kinda in the middle of the carpark where the lifts are. The decor looks like some hawker stall (ok very clean hawker stall!!!) and you have got pretty much 2 choices and a million different combos: Thai boat noodles or Tom Yum noodles. Here is where the variations starts: with Thai boat, you can choose beef or pork, then different noodles or no noodles at all, with soup or without soup or something in between (with a bit of soup?!) Tom yum is the same, except you don't have a choice with the meat, it's pork and prawn. So, for someone who can't make up my mind, I ordered beef boat noodle with glass noodle and somewhere in between soup and no soup. Apparently the soup is made of pork (even if it's beef meat I chose) that was boiled for hours. Then you get sliced medium rare beef, the most tender brisket and very flavourful beef balls. This is topped with bean sprouts and pork crackling and morning glory. You also get the standard condiments of sugar, vinegar, fish sauce and dried chilli to customize your own flavours to create this amazing, yumgasmic bowl of noodles. I also got Thai milk tea which is sweet, milky and certainly extinguish any heat from the heapful of chillis I chucked in my bowl. I can't stop raving this place not only because of their noodles, but also their service. I asked for cooked beef because I am preggars, and after it came out, te chef came out and checked whether it was cooked through enough. The only gripe I have was that the noodles ($10) is quite small. But you can get a large size for $15. I would recommend getting a large size if you are a single diner and share 3 standard size between two.

Fragrant beefy soup, silky kuay teow noodles and crunchy crackling! A tad pricey at AUD15 for large, AUD10 for regular.

Strange ordering system and limited offering - but delicious. Wonderful flavours with great balance. Feels like Bangkok without the heat.
