Not bad but overrated imo. Super busy and that sometimes leads to inconsistent meals.

Great flag ours of food, and prompt service override the tiny space's cramped seating arrangements. The Thai pancakes are areal gem.

Honestly, this is my favourite Thai food in Melbourne. I really can't fault this place. The food is…read moredelicious, the service is always good, the atmosphere is warm and inviting with nice decor, and they have a great vegan menu in addition to their already extensive regular menu. I've tried nearly everything on the vegan menu, but the Pad See Ew with mock pork is my favourite. The sauce is mild but delicious, the wide flat noodles are yummy, and the mock pork is good (no funny mock-meat aftertaste at all). We also love their peanut sauce and will often get an entree that comes with the peanut sauce (like the Vegan Salad Pak or Tofu Roti Wrap). Portion sizes are pretty good for the money. They also know the difference between vegan and vegetarian, so I trust that the vegan section of their menu truly is vegan -- no sneaky fish sauce or anything like that. You can do eat-in or take-away. The place never seems very busy which is a surprise given how good it is. Everyone we've recommended this place to has loved it and are now repeat customers themselves. Definitely give this place a try if you are craving Thai food and you are westside.

Thai on Charles is a bit of a secret. Whilst it's often humming with people, I've never seen it…read morepacked. Translation: you can ALWAYS get a table. They seem to do a roaring trade in takeaway, so perhaps that's why it's not too busy, but I have no idea why you wouldn't eat in. The fitout is authentic and has very recently been renovated. At under $30 for mains for two people, the price is perfect too. Service is exactly as it is in Thailand... friendly, quiet and helpful. My regular order is a vegetarian green curry (no tofu... lots of vegetables!) and prawn crackers. Delish.
