Isan soul is meant to be all about this street food and the decor is definitely meant to reflect this. Having grown up in Thailand, the tuk Tuk, plastic dragons, jam filled cookies, stacked lunch containers, the photos of king bhumipol brought back several memories
We made a bookin and were seated at a small table in the corner which was rocking
It was difficult to get the staff attention to place an order
Prices are reasonable and the menu has lots of options
We selected the roast duck salad, the grilled pork with tamarind sauce. And the soft shelled crab in special curry sauce.
Having heard so much about this place from my Thai school classmate, I could not wait to dig into my meal
Food arrived quickly and it was hard I fit it all on the table
Eating places are tea cup saucers so there is very little room to eat and I ended up having one dish on my plate at a time
All three dishes were extremely sweet and I couldn't taste any of the delicate Thai flavours like galangal or lemongrass or other herbs. The food tasted almost like those dishes flavoured with supermarket curry paste
I was very disappointed with the food here.
