I turned 30 last year and went to Dr. Vafa for two separate rounds of sculptra. I naturally have a thinner face. After the first round, I waited 6 months and loved the results. I felt I got extra volume in the places where I needed it (cheeks, temples, softened nasolabial folds) and it looked very natural. I got compliments and even inquiries. Dr. Vafa said I would need to return for a second round, because I wouldn't notice any changes after the first round (I did and I really should've just stopped there). The second time around, I felt I looked over filled. My face looked just generally more round and filled, less sculpted. Under the eyes looked better, and my cheeks looked bigger.
Unfortunately, my lower face has gotten heavier though and my nasolabial folds are deeper than ever (the original insecurity I had come in for). One thing that really, really bothered me is that both times I saw Doctor Vafa, after initial injections, he would put any remaining product in my jaw (lower cheek). On both occasions, I told him not to put it in my jaw/lower face (as I naturally have a small, feminine jaw with a pointed chin. I told him I was really happy with the shape of my jaw/chin and did not want to make any modifications) and on both occasions, he did not respect my decision and after initial injections, he would inject all remaining product there despite my objections. He said it would protect my jowls (I did not have jowls, I was 29/30 when I first saw him with a thin face, nothing was sagging and I do not carry fat there.) Instead now, I have a heavier lower face, with a more masculine square jaw and now I can't change the results. 15 months out I now have additional skin and volume there in the lower cheek, that has started to sag and now have premature jowling.
I liked the initial work that he did but I really wish he had respected my opinion and wants because I have to live with seeing my face everyday and I'm not happy with it. read more
