2 Stars for driving range occupied by raucous, pot-smoking kids in late afternoon/evening hours. Mornings and early afternoons are fine. Above-average quality range balls. Very cheap prices ($3 for 30, $6 for 60, etc.) that probably attract so many misbehavin' young people. I complained; the management doesn't care. As a beginner, I LOVE this golf course! My husband is a really good golfer so I've accompanied him to many amazing courses (Pebble Beach, St. Andrews, etc) that are too intimidating to learn on. The Alhambra Golf Course is perfect for anyone that is new to golf yet still fun for more advanced players. I arranged lessons with Michelle through the pro-shop and she is a miracle worker. I had only picked up a club once before taking lessons with her and to quote my husband: "I've never seen someone improve THAT MUCH after one lesson." She is incredibly kind and patient and her rates are very competitive. (I called 5 people for quotes and she was cheaper or about the same cost as everyone I spoke to.) I have also interacted with the pro-shop and driving range employees and all of them have been very patient and friendly while helping this noob navigate the world of golf. The course has a driving range, putting green, and chipping area. I personally feel like this course is beautiful and well maintained, especially considering how cheap it is to play. I'm giving this course a 4 star because I feel like the price is on point for the type of course it is, but it can't compare to the championship courses I've seen. read more

The staff are always so friendly here and they try to be accommodating when they can be! For a municipal golf course, they treat their customers above and beyond compared to private courses I've been to. Tee times can be hard to book but I've found that if you check around 2AM a week ahead of time, all the tee times are released and up for grabs. They have been credit/debit card only for 3 years now, and they have some exciting technology installed at the Driving Range! They have TopTracer technology that tracks your ball at the driving range when you download the app. Speaking of the driving range, they will be starting construction on Oct. 17 and it looks like it won't be open until 2PM Monday-Friday until further notice. There is a sign in front of the Driving Range to contact the pro shop for the varying Horus throughout the end of the year. Thank goodness, they are finally doing construction for the driving range since it has been run down for the past year. Some exciting updates! They have also aerated their tee boxes so the tees are moved forward for about another 2 weeks, according to the starters. And they just aerated their greens today. The starters say it should be fully healed in about 2 and a half weeks. The restaurant next door has also friendly service (shoutout to Vicky and Nicole!) , but they close fairly early at 4:30! ): Kind of hard to grab food and drinks after 9 holes if you have a later tee time. Clubs were sticky and because we were students, my fiends and I wanted a student discount for golf balls and went to the store; however, the worker there at the time didn't even talk to us and just pointed at the sign and was like "look" in a very stuck up attitude. Went to the range last night, seemed to be very busy since there ain't any place to go these days. I grabbed my clubs and headed to the top level stall. I was waiting on one spot where three kids were almost done hitting. Just a few seconds later, I heard a loud screaming from behind, it was from a Hispanic range attendant (50ish), everyone turned the heads back so did I, at the this moment I was not sure who he was screaming at, he was standing near the ramp by the ball dispensary area, that was quite a way from where I was, "get in the line, didn't you see everyone else is waiting here, wait in the line here!" He was screaming and yelling at my direction, soon as I turned my head back, he was pointing at me, yelling:"you, you, you need to come here and get in the line. " then i replied to him,that I was not awared that there is a line formed. Then he maliciously accused me by saying "weren't you here the day before?!" I told him I haven't been here for the past three weeks. He replied "probably I got the right person, you looked like him !" Wtf: do Asians all looked alike! That is pure discrimination !!! I confronted him why he couldn't have the courtesy and basic work ethics just came up to me and informed me that there was a line instead yelling and screaming from almost 60 feet away in public to insult me! Also he was the only one who was NOT wearing a mask while everyone else did: the range required everyone wear masks even when they are hitting the balls, regardless more than 12 feet away (middle hitting stall is closed in between). Why the hell he was NOT wearing a mask, he is a employee of the facility, should set a good example !! This is total hypocrisy and double standards! I have been a patron of the golf course and range for more than two decades, i do not recall his name but I know him by face. The impression that I had with him : he was always sitting in the range room talking on the phone, he never came out and collecting the empty baskets, now all of a sudden he got a "real police job": yelling, screaming and harrasing at the royal customer and community supporter! I strongly urge the GM Fernando take immediate action : he should not be allowed to work in Alhambra. If not, I will take my own action against him personally. End of the day, what is right is right, sick behaviors racism should not be tolerated!!!! I've been frequenting this place for a month now. The golf course is ok. but the practice range is full of selfish beginners that just don't know better. Loud, Drunk, barking dogs, coaches that take up two spots, party of campers gathered around one spot shouting each stroke, smokers smoking in front of the no smoking sign are present every day. The practice range balls are mostly half broken. If you need a distraction to practice focusing, this place would be perfect for you. read more

Newly remodeled tri-level driving range. Each stall had a tailored distance markers. There's also practice greens and bunker. They have complimentary golf clubs for you to use if you don't have one or forgot yours at home. What I thought was interesting was that they have mirrors for you to use to perfect your form in one section of the place. Practice balls: --Large (100 balls): $10 --Medium (60 balls): $6 --Small (30 balls): $3 Membership benefits: discounts and save on all buckets purchased and you can purchase from the golf shop. I usually come here with my friend after work to practice our swing couple of times a week. We haven't been back ever since the one incident that had took place. We usually get $10 worth of balls and we would take turn swinging away. One time we had an emergency and was not able to stay to finish using up all the balls. We decided to leave with the balls and come right back, to pick up where we had left off. As we were putting things in the car, one of the staff came toward us and said "you can't take those balls!" Um..we're coming right back we told him and plus we come here a lot. His tone of voice sounded like he was accusing us of stealing. Really?! What are we going to do with these balls? read more

A few years back, some so-called friends introduced me to the worst drug habit ever. That's right - golf is a 4-letter word. Golf will ruin your mental health, deplete your checking account, and yet I willingly subject myself to the same abuse every week. Inevitably, when you say to yourself, "F this. My score for the day is screwed. Here goes nothing," you hit your best shot of the day, or sink a putt from somewhere in the 909 area code. *%&$#@!)%*$&%*!%*! Now I have to come back next week. *deep sigh. eyes gaze upwards* If you are even 1% OCD, I'm pretty sure golf will bring it out. This review is more geared towards the driving range, but I'll get to the golf course later. The driving range is 3 decks, with my favorite being the top deck right before sundown. Middle deck is good for hot days, so that you can be in the shade. Lower deck is not recommended because the layout of the range forces you to hit an uphill shot. You see mostly young kids on the lower deck. Guess that's so they don't take a swan dive off the middle or upper decks. The fee for a bucket of balls is pretty similar to other places, but what I like is that they have **buckets of clean water and brushes.** This is key - so few places have this! You can clean up your clubs and get them sparkling once again. The putting area is on a moderate slope, so this may or may not be a good test of putting for beginners. It just depends on how much you like a challenge. The golf course is pretty generous, from a yardage standpoint. Some par 4s are as short as 270-290 yards. The front 9 vs back 9 have completely different personalities, and that will either delight you or annoy you. I, personally, don't think it's fair to subject golfers to such different characteristics. The front 9 has short holes and no terrain. The back 9 is full of terrain and hills, has water, and some forced carries where you better get it in the air, or you're in trouble. But that's ok. I come to this place for the driving range, and it's a really nice facility that's open until midnite during summer. Swing thought: "Here goes nothing." Oh dayam... "FORE!! Sorry dude." read more

We've been here a few times when the weather was much cooler. Great place to practice your swings or just simply wack some golf balls in my case. If you have younger kids, you can get a bucket of 100 balls for $5 instead of $10 by making a quick stop at the shop in the back and pay there. In my opinion, it's better to be on the second level if you have kids. They will have a better view of where their balls land after they take their swings. Please make sure you keep your eyes closer on your youngsters especially if you are not on the bottom level. read more

I've been here to the golf course to actually play possible 3 times. It's an easy course with reasonable fees. They have a tri-level driving range that goes as far as 232 yards I think. This is great for a cheap date. They have chairs and a vending machine for snacks. You can also play on the putting greens. read more

Cheap and in decent condition. $10 for 100 balls. You rent out the little rubber tee thing for $1 but only as an insurance kind of thing. I went there once and was lent one for free from the staff. How nice! There are plenty of clubs, drivers, irons, etc to choose from if you do not own any. There are 3 levels where you can just swing away and a putt practicing area below; along with a few areas with mirrors where you can practice your swings/form. People there range from "pro like status" to "how do I golf?" in skill level, but they all seem to treat each other equally which is really nice. The place closes decently late which is nice. I like to go there with friends at night to just chat while hitting a few balls out. It get's pretty full on some nights, but most of the time you can find a spot. It's a pretty old place, so don't expect state of the art facilities or a beautiful-well kept structure. Regardless though, the place is pretty well kept. The field isn't super green and perfect but this place isn't some private club sort of place. It's open for all. It's a really enjoyable place and worth the money. The workers though, do seem to disappear for long intervals sometimes, but I would too. Everything is almost self served so I don't see that as a huge problem. read more

1. The one great thing this place has going for it is its late hours. You can purchase a bucket as late as 11:30pm. As a competitive golfer, I'm thinking about my swing 24/7. So if I want to work on something, this is the place to go to. 2. It can get crowded from 8pm to 11:00pm. You might have to wait up to an hour for a spot to open. And there's plenty of tools that take a spot, don't hit balls because they're smoking, talking too much or just taking their time. But I'm an impatient person. 3. It can get a little ghetto there, and I mean ghetto of all races. So it's not people who have the knowledge of etiquette for golf. Like ghetto people have any manners anyways. So you're warned about loud, stupid, uneducated people. 4. Lot of cute girls frequent this place, some of them have an interest in golf. But as most golfers know in Southern California, where there is golf, there are plenty of Asians. Which is all good, because they're all pretty good golfers. read more

Foremost- its 5400 yds from the blue tees. I got my PR here without trying. But, not sure if it counts. Tee boxes- avg Fairways- avg. brown spots. Bunkers- below avg. terrible. Its a centimeter of brown dirt then hard, packed dirt. Greens- above avg. nice actually. tricky too. Its alright. Esp if you bring newer folks who are learning. But doesnt quite relieve the itch. While this driving range is antiquated and cheap, it does the job just fine. It doesn't try to be like it's much more modern counterpart at the Monterey Park Golf Club. $10 for 100 balls will leave your arm tired before you ever run out of balls to hit. Out of the 3 levels to hit from, I most prefer the top because I don't have to be distracted by balls flying over me. Other things to note: parking is plentiful, for $1 you can rent a rubber tee, clubs are free to use, and there is a putting green. read more

This is my first time golfing in 20 years and seemed to have forgotten everything! I'm glad the driving range is close to home so I can start learning my swing again; not that I was ever very good at it. As for the range, it has 3 levels, with the top dedicated to irons, but no drivers. A nice putting green is located adjacent to the range and offers a free area to improve your technique. Go pin hunting, because you won't get much roll on the shots. Water only comes into play on a few holes. Another curious detail about this course is that it's got 5 par 3s. Many of the par 4s are pretty short - driver and lob wedge. Par 5s are reachable in 2 - driver and mid iron. Staff at the pro shop and starter are friendly and helpful. Our cart had the flashing battery sign, and they quickly changed our cart out at the turn. Course was not crowded at all today. Started at 11:45 and finished at around 3:30pm. That's a pretty decent pace for a Sunday afternoon. Maybe all the other golfers in the area are monitoring their fantasy Football stats. read more

This facility is good. But employees and policy are so so terrible. My daughter is scga jr member. At first time, So We call them before I book tee time. A lady answered we can go any time for $1. So we booked 1:30, when we go there to check in, front desk said there is promotions $1 after 2 pm. And spectator drive car fee $13, if player sit on car, will charge $12. Total $25. This does not make sense. Is 6 years old girl able to drive a car by her own? Second time, we went there, they don't have cars, so they don't charge for spectator fee with walking . Only charge $1. Third time today, they charge spectator fee $15, no matter if spectator walking or drive a car. different receptionists charge differently. We have been going different golf courses, never see like this. Charge whatever they want to charge. Hope business owner will see this. This terrible experience I never had! read more

I think the prices for the twilight/ super twilight times are pretty decent so that makes me like this course more, I believe it was $15 for super twilight on a saturday afternoon, came around 430, and made it just in time to the 9th hole. Customer service was really good, they were super nice at the store when we were checking in and told us we could start as soon as we were ready to instead of having to wait until the tee time. The course was really nice, sand bunkers, little ponds with ducks and geese and these weird little flightless looking birds (do watch out for their poopies though), sadly i almost hit one of them...twice! It's a pretty well-rounded range, there were a few par 5s and par 4s as well as a few par 3s so you'll definitely be using your whole range of clubs. One thing I did note that I had to take a star off for was that a lot of the fairway seemed...dead...a lot of the times it's just dirt you're hitting when you should really be hitting grass. I mean i get that some of your shots slice or hook and end up in some weird area where it is just dirt or gravel, but if your'e in the fairway, that shouldn't be happening. But other than that, I have no complaints, I did like the course a lot even though I sucked terribly haha. As soon as I stopped counting my strokes, I started actually enjoying myself. :P BUT this is still a good challenge for the more experienced, not PGA status but good enough. :) I'll definitely be coming back again. read more
