I came here to get an official typing certificate. This location is easy to get to, and they have their own parking lot which is shared with Concord College and 24 hr Fitness. It was crowded at 11am on a Thursday, but I didn't have too much trouble finding parking. Upon walking in there is a reception desk to the left, and a spacious hall to the right, with computer stations that I am assuming are used for job searches and applications, as no one was using them at the time. I was greeted by a very hospitable woman with lovely green shaded dreads, and she directed me where to go. Ms. Barbara and Ms.Christine were a hoot. They made me feel like I was home visiting my mom and auntie I swear they are the best. I didn't get my WPM up to my usual standard, but I walked away with a certificate nonetheless, with some encouragement and cheering from my newly found family members I didn't know I had. In the meantime, they got all my personal information, then ignored my calls and email messages for weeks. I started the process three months before the semester began, and my appointment with the counselor ended up taking place about two weeks after the semester started. I think they do this intentionally, just to make sure you don't get the course. Who knows what they actually do with the money. All I got from them was a lot of candy-coated smoke and broken promises. What a giant waste of my time and energy, not to mention that I won't get the training I was hoping for to get a job. I can't wait another six months for the new semester. What a shame when so many people are in need of finances for health insurance, groceries, gas...that our government funds "organizations" like this.
