Dr. Alfred Ho is unfortunately one of the worst dentists I have ever been to and his work on my teeth left me in a compromised situation and he actually caused permanent damage to a tooth that had no previous problems in my entire lifetime. Unfortunately, I was mislead by the phony ZocDoc reviews and as a result paid a dear price. I hope others can learn from my own experience. I chipped my front right tooth when I was a child and needed to get a filling to replace the chip. Every 3-5yrs, the filling either chips or falls out completely - both are common events. As a result, I've had to go to a dentist each time to get it replaced. So I went to my dentist from growing up numerous times (he was great) without any problems. Fast forward to this past January and the filling chipped once again. Rather than drive 2.5hrs to PA where my childhood dentist is located, I decided to visit Dr. Ho. Having a chipped tooth is relatively time sensitive, but Dr. Ho decided to give me a regular cleaning rather than address the emergent problem. He then commented that my front left tooth had very minor chipping that he might be able to help with. Additionally, he pointed out a few spaces in my top right teeth that could use some work. My next appointment with Dr. Ho was a couple weeks later and he mentioned that my dental insurance would only cover two fillings in this calendar year. He then went on to do the procedure on my original chipped tooth to replace my filling. After that, he went to my front left tooth which had minimal damage in the first place and shaved the tooth down extremely thin to then give me an entirely new filling. Was this necessary? Absolutely not according to another dentist I went to afterwards. This was a clear way to try and pump as much money from my insurance as possible. The worst part had unfortunately yet to come. I asked Dr. Ho if I needed to rest the tooth at all before eating. He said not at all. I nevertheless waited 3-4hrs and had dinner that night. Biting into a regularly cooked string bean, the filling COMPLETELY FELL OUT! These are supposed to be extremely strong bonds that last for years. And yet it couldn't even last for a few hours when Dr. Ho applied them to my tooth. After calling his after hours hotline (which is really an office secretary with no dental experience), I was forced to suffer through pain for 2 full days since Dr. Ho was busy in his other office out in Long Island. He then went in and replaced the filling before I was scheduled to fly down to Mexico for a long weekend vacation. You won't believe what happened next - while I was eating a piece of pizza at the airport bar waiting for my flight, IT FELL OUT AGAIN!! Needless to say, I found a new dentist at this point even though Dr. Ho still charged me for the work done. Dr. Ho is a dentist whose work cannot be trusted and it seems like in my case he tricked me into getting a procedure that was completely unnecessary just to get more money from my insurance. This was the worst experience I've ever had with a doctor or dentist in my life by a long shot. I cannot stress how much I would advise people to avoid Dr. Ho and his dental practice. Dr. Ho was a very kind, skilled, and obviously knowledgeable dentist who was patient with answering all of my questions. At the end of my first appointment, Dr. Ho let me know that I needed two fillings and spent lots of time explaining the procedure to me, which I very much appreciated. His entire office staff was polite and helpful and made booking my next appointment SUPER easy. My second appointment with Dr. Ho was just as wonderful as the first and my teeth felt so much better. I've been using Dr. Ho for my dental care needs for a long time. He has great bedside manor, and actively seeks your feedbacks while he works on your teeth to ensure you are comfortable. He administers additional novocains as necessary. He recently did try to save one of my molar teeth by attempting to crown it after I cracked it halfway through. After a couple of visits, he determined that due to my night-time tooth grinding, I cracked it all the way across and was not able to save it. He then recommended that I do a full implant, but that it would require a sinus lift and a bone graft beforehand. As of now it's about 4 weeks into the bone-graft/sinus lift (done on the same day) and I've experienced no pain or swelling of any kind. I am ready to go back this Tuesday for an x-ray exam to see if it's time to move onto the next steps in my implant progress. What can I say? Despite being hyper-allergic to things like spicy foods animals danders dust fur and corn, I am pain and swelling-free as of now, what a blessing!! I've been with Dr. Ho for more than 15 years. He is caring, thorough, and very knowledgeable. He would never do any procedures that is unnecessary, like some other dentists I had before I found him. Even though I moved from Manhattan to New Jersey, I would still come back to him to continue seeing him. Although it takes me 2 hours to travel from New Jersey to Manhattan to see Dr. Ho, I would never go to anybody else. My husband preferred convenience and went to a local dentist in New Jersey for a root canal. But his dentist didn't do the procedure right and he had to go back to redo the procedure half a year later. Mr. Ho did my root canal a few years ago and I haven't had any issue since then. Dr. Ho's dentistry is not as good as I thought. I had lower two teeth done with him 2014 and now it is infected and I have to spend more monies and time to redo the two teeth with implants. It is just ridiculous. His billers knows how to bill my insurance but not really stick to the quality of his work. Disappointed. read more

Dr Ho has been taking care of me for long time. He took care of me from cavities, 2 root canal and crown. He is so gentle with care that he always ask for your response if shows any signs of discomfort. Getting a injection by him is painless. I feel more pain getting a flu shot. I would avoid Dr. Ho as he is technically not a very good dentist. I 've been seeing him for a few years now and I have had to return multiple times to correct the same problem. Dr. Ho damaged my jaw severely. I had a root canal done at his practice, and over the course of four weeks of drilling, I went to his office expressing being in extreme pain. I also showed him my severely infected jaw that was swollen and blood red. One time he even expressed surprise saying "oh we didn't prescribe you any antibiotics after last time?" Each visit, when I asked when I would get a crown, he stressed to me multiple times per visit that he would ONLY give a crown if it were absolutely necessary. But in the meantime I would need only a filling that he would give me. The pain continued. Two months after my first visit to him, I went to another dentist who showed me an X-Ray showing substantial bone loss and the tooth cracked, stating that bone loss in just two months means that the infection ate away at the bone for a good deal of time while under Dr. Ho's care. When I confronted Dr. Ho about it, he lied, claiming I never expressed pain, and that he suggested a crown but that I said no, give me a filling instead. There is no way that I lost bone and endured a cracked tooth for two months while claiming I had no pain and that I just wanted a filling. I have to now pursue professional investigation of wrongdoing because Dr. Ho is denying what he did, what I experienced, and what the new X-Ray clearly shows. I must get a lot more invasive dental procedures done tomorrow to fix what Dr. Ho did to me and is now unfortunately lying about now. read more
