Josue and Joseph are amazing! They always greet the customers by their name and are so friendly! The coffee is amazing and they are always making sure my coffee is right !

Steak burrito
David D.

Deserves negative stars. Ordered the supposed "wake and late" steak burrito. Surprise--it was nothing similar to wake and late. At best this burrito was awful. At worst, I am 99% sure, they used rancid meat in the burrito. If you, unfortunately, know the smell and taste of old/bad beef...that's what was inside this burrito. As I'm sitting here writing this review, I'm trying not to vomit the bit that I ate. Honestly, it's that bad. Beyond the rancid meat, the eggs were watery, potatoes were boiled + semi-cooked, and everything was covered in some sort of a cheese sauce with a nauseating smell/flavor. Masterpiece in sh*t. If this is an attempt to kill the downtown wake and late's reputation, congrats, keep doing what you're doing. Was hoping this would end the casual breakfast drought in Arts District. For now, the hunt continues. This is not it.

The inside when you walk in

Went on a Sunday morning at around 7am. Parking was easy at that time. Any later... good luck! Walked in and saw the nice open sitting area with free wifi! Went into the ordering area It was nice and inviting. The person that helped me was helpful and kind :). The other worker there was more engaging for conversation and that was nice :)! I got the "world famous vanilla latte", a blue berry muffin and a steak burrito. The coffee was quite delicious! The muffin was crisp and fresh. But the steak burrito... that was very tasty!!! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ idk if it was worth 15$, but it was very good with the chapotle sauce!! If I can find parking in the future or if I'm in the area early... I'll definitely stop by again!!

Strawberry Matcha
Gabriella A.

I got the strawberry matcha and did half the strawberry sweetness and it was really good. The person who made my drink was super nice but the person who took my order was kind of rude. She didn't have a warm or friendly/approachable attitude...i felt kind of awkward because she didn't say hi or ask what I wanted so I kinda just started just ordering when I was ready. She reminded me of an npc lol, just standing there and staring. Inside is nice, there's a good amount of seating. It also was kind of pricey for the size of the drink but it is the arts district so it's pretty much expected. I paid $8 for a 12oz and also changed the milk to oat milk. Overall, would come again it was just the interaction that was a little off putting.

I came in later in the day and the pastries were already gone but I did try the special matcha! It was good but a tad sweet. My experience here was still great bc the staff was super friendly and helpful! I ended up purchasing a trio of their syrups and some matcha to bring back with me! When im back in the area, I will return to try the breakfast sandwiches which seem to sell out fast! Oh, and more matcha! Great spot on my matcha tour!

Strawberry Matcha Latte
Drew C.

I wish I had an endless stomach (and wallet) so I could try everything on the drink menu. Everything looks and sounds delicious, and I believe it, because I had the strawberry matcha latte and naturally got the largest size possible so I could enjoy it as long as possible. It was a perfect combination of flavors and sweetness that I just wish I could have an endless supply of.

Love this spot. I come here all the time and the drinks are always on point (the vanilla latte never misses). The vibe is chill and the staff is super friendly they actually remember you, which I appreciate. Shoutout to Jackie, Joseph, Zoie, Josue, and Sam they're always welcoming and make the place feel like a real neighborhood coffee shop. Great coffee, great people, easy recommendation.

Cool built in bench with patio table for outside seating while enjoying your favorite beverage!

Alfred is always the move when in LA! This time, I went for their Espresso Cloud Cream ... & let me tell you, it's not just a coffee ... it's an experience. Light, airy vanilla cream floating over smoothly decadent espresso, finished with a pinch of sea salt & a dusting of cocoa. It's the kind of drink that makes you pause & think, yep, this is why I come here. The new location? Super clean, minimal, & effortlessly cool -- the kind of space that feels calm but still has that signature Alfred buzz. & the customer service? Friendly, fast, & just the right amount of chill. No attitude -- just good vibes. Alfred has a way of turning a quick stop into a small moment for yourself. Whether you're catching up with a friend, on a midday work break, or just soaking up the LA energy... it always delivers. It's not hype. It's just consistently that good. CHEERS!

Small Black coffee

Coffee that actually tastes like coffee, what a novel idea! I was wandering through the Arts District and ducked into Alfred's. When I walked through the door I was surprised to smell coffee beans. I ordered the iced vanilla latte (the menu proudly calls it world famous), and my sister went for the matchaga )with oat milk) Mine was perfect, not too sweet so the espresso could shine through. The matchaga is a mix between a classic ceremonial Matcha and Chaga mushrooms and it was earthy and creamy. Solid coffee, and a good reminder that sometimes classics are "world famous" for a reason.

Yummy gluten-free and vegan pastries

Hello!!! This coffee hit the spot! I enjoyed the iced chagaccino 12oz and a walnut chocolate chip cookie!! Warmed please!!! They open at 7am and that's the time my friend and I walked in!! The only thing I would improve is letting us know when our food was ready! We got the call for our drinks faster than our food because we just didn't hear our names being called. Other then that I'll be back

I wanna give a shoutout to the staff, since this location has opened they have been the greatest bunch of baristas in the arts district.

A place to relax and recharge.. my fav combo. A Bagel and salted maple latte. The staff? Top 2 but Not 2.

Iced vanilla latte is top tier
Court S.

I did not expect to enjoy the ice vanilla latte as much as I did! There a subtle sweet cream, vanilla bean that complements the coffee perfectly. The employees are very sweet & friendly. I absolutely love the atmosphere, as there are plenty of available tables in & outdoors. No shade, but I'm tickled Alfred has replaced the Pie Hole.

The team here always has the holiday spirit.

We sat at the bar where there was ample seating. We ordered three mocktails and one martini... all drinks were We were taken to our table (check was transferred from bar) and started one course at a time & shared. Our waiter was personable and took our order quickly as well as consistently replenished our drinking water. Everything was delicious and had its own unique flavor, from the chickpea fritters which had softness and crunchiness, the goat mousse with sweet and savory sauces and the crumpets and crackers; then the goat belly with a deliciously crisp skin and soft inside and intense flavor (but not gamey) with a rich sauce, the steak was yummy and precut, and the pork shank which was epic! I loved all the greens and pita to wrap the pork and goodies into! We ended with a bday scoop of mango sticky ice cream which was completely different than I've had before and yummy.

With things like goat curry and gluten free options, you gotta have rice. Second, they ran out of goat curry. I came all the way from San Diego to try it. Oh well. Excuse to come back. I loved every bite I tried. There was nothing that disappointed. The standouts were the green beans, the Brussels sprouts that came with the chicken, the pork shank and the tuna and crunchy quinoa salad. I'm still thinking of that crunchy quinoa. We had no room for dessert. So maybe next time we try the goat curry, get the quinoa salad again and get dessert! The service was great too. Attentive but not overbearing. It's a cute restaurant both inside and outside.

My wife and I stopped here a few weekends back for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised with just how much I enjoyed the food. The ambiance here is pretty generic, white and bright and very copy and paste of a lot of places popping up recently. The staff was super friendly while taking our orders and dropping the food off, which is always appreciated. I ended up ordering the Santo's Turkey Melt which is smoked turkey, grilled onions, Swiss cheese, and chipotle aioli served on sourdough with a side of french fries. The sandwich was really good and the same can be said for the french fries and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of fries given, so thumbs up to that. I forgot what the food costs so I visited the website and for some reason they don't think it's important to put that online, which is pretty darn stupid if you ask me. Overall, I didn't have a bad experience at Sandcouch Cafe and I would visit again in the future thanks to it's convenient location. The food was solid and the staff was friendly, and that's really all I need when ordering a sandwich.
