I've been going to The Host for tandoori chicken exclusively for years, and recently found out Alforat Iraqi Street Food is also an excellent choice! The chicken was flavorful and juicy, their portion generous. They also offer buy 1 get 1 free offers on Ubereats every now and then- you may want to check them out and take advantage of such a great deal!

Missing fries and eggplant

I ordered a chicken swaramam samoon and a mshakal samoon. They first gave me someone's order. After that was fixed, I realized too late that they give me a falfel samoon instead of mshakal; I know this since it was missing several items. The mshakal also cost more too so I basically got scammed by them. -the samoon bread wasn't toasted or warmed up -for the chicken swaramam samoon, they give you alot of chicken, but it makes the bread fall apart. -it seems like Iraqi swaramam has much less toppings vs other country's. Overall I will not come back.

Major disappointment! Health inspectors should be all over this place! Cooks and employees walking around, preparing and handling food WITH NO MASKS OR GLOVES OR ANY PROTECTION GEARS! I trued this place through takeout previously and the quality was horrible, but yesterday I went there and saw those violations myself! Be aware!

I came here for the stuffed (with seasoned rice) rotisserie chicken combo that comes with Iraqi salads and hummus and garlic. The salads were tasty. I enjoyed them. For $23.99 its worth the deal, however the chicken was dry. It looked a lil overcooked from the time it came off the spit/rotisserie. That was disappointing because I kept hearing how juicy the chicken was. The size of the chicken is tiny though. Its like 40% of the size of what you might cook at home. ....small enough to cut in half and spread out in a take out container. That says a lot for how small it is!!! This could between 3 to 4 people. We also had the fudge coconut dessert for about $5 which is shareable in small pieces between four people. Its not super sweet. Its mild tasting. Good seating for a hangout spot with friends or a casual bite. They take credit card. It's in the same Plaza as the halal authentic Thai spot Jatujak. The taste of the chicken and rice was good and you get a great amount for the price but because the chicken was dry, I wont return.

Pretty good, Taste Authentic and staff is decently friendly. Was pleasantly surprised the restaurant was very clean. The only negatives food took slightly longer than I expected to be ready. And the taste of the food was natural but a little bland.

I was a bit disappointed with the chicken samoon. There wasn't much sauce so it tasted a bit dry but, overall it was good. The service was quick

We didn't have to wait long before the food was served. The chicken came off the bone so easily, and it was nicely seasoned as well. The dish came on a large bed of rice and a delicious lentil soup, along with dipping sauce. The price was pretty affordable given the size as well. The place was brightly lit and there was lots of space each time I went. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

Considering the prices, I felt the amount you received was too small. I don't mind paying more for quality food, but when you're spending a decent amount of money, you expect a more reasonable portion of the main protein. The service was also hit-or-miss. Sometimes it was fine, and other times it left a lot to be desired. Between the inconsistent service and the small portions, we eventually stopped going there. I know I'm not the only one who felt this way, as I've heard similar complaints from others regarding the portion sizes. That said, I want to be fair and mention that I haven't ordered from them in the past two years, so things may have changed since my last visit. The food itself was always flavorful, and I hope they've addressed some of these concerns because the quality of the food was never the issue.

I've heard many good things about Zezafoun and was excited to finally try the place. The restaurant has about ~25 seats for customers indoors. They do have a small outdoor patio for when the weather gets warmer. Reservations are recommended during busy peak dinner or brunch times, however it is possible to get a table if you do walk in as well during non-peak times. I dined at Zezafoun with a party of 3 recently on a Sat evening. We didn't make reservations but walked in around 6:30 and was able to grab a table. It wasn't too busy that early in the evening but as the night went on the restaurant got busier. Service was great and friendly. Staff gave us plenty of time to decide what to order as well as gave us recommendations as well. The interior is warm and cozy. For drinks, I ordered the pomegranate juice which was unique and delicious. One member of my party ordered the rosewater and lemon juice which was refreshing and light. They also have Syrian coffee and tea as well on the menu which I will try next time! Food wise, we ordered and shared the following dishes: - Falafel plate (chickpeas patty fried and served with a side of tahini sauce) - Hummus (homemade chickpeas, tahini, lemon and garlic with a touch of olive oil) - Fattoush salad (Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, radish with Zezafoun dressing topped with crispy pita bread) - Kebbeh labanyeh (beef kibbeh in a cooked garlic yogurt stew served with side rice) - Maldoum (beef kufta wrapped with delicious eggplants in tomato stew and served with a side of rice) - Makloubeh (layers of rice, eggplants, and ground beef with tomato sauce served with side yogurt or salad) Food was delicious and unique! I've never had authentic Syrian food like this before and it was a delight. The appetizers we shared (falafel, hummus, and salad) were great to start the meal. The hummus was creamy and the falafel was nice and crispy. The crispy pita bread in the fattoush salad gave the dish a textural contrast, In terms of our mains, all the dishes were tasty but I especially enjoyed the makloubeh! Overall, delicious spot in Midtown Toronto for Syrian food in a cozy environment. Service was also spot on as well. Definitely want to return to try their brunch menu!

Marian then carefully went over the menu with us and answered any questions. In the end we ordered a mixed plate and hummos which is a must with any middle eastern meal... Lets start with the Hummos which was exceptional in taste and texture and presented in a beautiful earthenware dish it was decorated with a few chick peas and featured a pool of extremely good quality olive oil with a sprinkle of sumac here and there.... This is a simple dish but magic when its done right and this was perfect! On to the mixed plate.chicken kebab incredibly tender and beautifully spiced chicken shawarma which was tender yet had the odd crispy bit just as real shawarma should and beef kofta which was spiced nicely and cooked to perfection...the taboule was made fresh using great care and pita bread served warm and fresh. Now for the kicker.... This place is so clean you could literally eat off the floor and come to no harm.... So if you like your run of the mill middle eastern food served to you standing in line by a guy with 3 days growth of beard wearing a T shirt he hasn't changed in a week then this place isn't for you however if you want to experience superior middle eastern fare served to you in a sparkling clean environment by beautiful Arabic women whose modesty can't hide their warmth and kindness then you truly need look no further...We came as strangers and left as friends... you will too!.... Maybe well see you there next time when we go for dinner as I cant wait to try the lamb shanks!..... Crisco
