The juice is good, fresh, earthy and healthy. The salads both look crisp and are good. Nice dressing, light. There was one small salad butt in my husband's salad. The grilled chicken was a bad dry. The chicken kafta was moist. Asked for a side of garlic sauce since we didn't get any with our 3 kafta skewers, not a lot of garlic sauce in the dish, at least it's free. The salads were good, the chicken kafta is better on too than the grilled chicken for us. Food and service was all good here. read more

Salad and salad dressing are not the quality you could get from some other similar restaurants, but the crushed lentil soup is fantastic.

Carry-out of Fatoosh with chicken shawarma & feta and an appetizer of fried kibbie. Starting with the most delicious would be the Fried Kibbie. Fried to perfection, perfect size and flavor. Then we have the Fatoosh which brings us to the 3 stars. The chicken is SO SO DRY! Dressing are always different depending on recipe followed and this one is light with stronger hints of lemon and very little sumac. I love sumac so I wish there was more to give this salad a little more kick. The gentlemen that took my order was extremely nice and patient with all my back and forth while ordering. First and last time ordering from here. I ordered a beef ghallabah and the meat was like shoe leather. So tough. I couldn't chew through it. And no sauce whatsoever. Dry and tough. I've only ordered from here once but I was highly impressed with the service and food. Ordering was a cinch; the ordering app was extremely easy to use and it took me mere minutes to place my order. The food was ready quickly and the cashier who rang me up was energetic, enthusiastic, and polite. My special requests were properly adhered to and my bag was adequately supplied with the condiments I requested, an ample amount of napkins, and plastic cutlery. New Owners and Staff, Same Great Food! Alexander's Kabob Island is a bit of a rebranding that has occurred over the last several months. The new owners have salvaged the restaurant from its former owner (back when it was just Alexander's) and have begun bringing the restaurant back to live and in a new direction. This time, the staff and managerial team are friendly, helpful, and efficient. The food they serve is still some of the best Arabic food in the area. The new menus still overs a slew of choices, from their crowd favorites like chicken shawarma, fattoush salad, kabobs, and sandwiches. There aren't many new options that offer up an exciting new menu for this new restaurant, but it's nice to see most of the old favorites still here. I'm still looking forward to them getting their beer and wine license, they are still worth the trip to. While the restaurant that has occupied this space at 13 Mile and Schoenherr Rd (be it Alexander's under its several owners, or the new Kabob Island) has always struggled finding its footing between the casual, easy going dinning experience that the lunch crowd and coupon crowd has come to expect, and their more upscale, fine dinning experience you can have in the evening. Alexander's Kabob Island, (slowly rebranding itself into just Kabob Island if you call them for carry out) is still a worth while visit for great Arabic food at a reasonable to down right dirt cheap at times price... but you just have to be okay with it's sometimes quite inferior and the traffic of 13 Mile. I've never had the pleasure of eating food from here before, and I had no idea how much I was missing out. I didn't feel like cooking and we had planned on doing Mediterranean one night this week. My wife was on her way home, and I needed to pick something fast. I had seen Alexander's while driving by and decided to give them a shot. We ordered falafel, chicken shawarma, fattoush and baby bread. I called to place my order and the gentleman who took my call was very patient and pleasant. They had the option to pay over the phone, which was a nice treat. The gentleman let me know that it would be about 20 minutes. My wife was ahead of schedule, and our order was already prepared waiting for us. She picked up the food and headed home. As she was pulling in the driveway at home, the gentleman I spoke with before called me to let me know that we were missing the baby bread, and that it was still ready if we wanted to swing by. I hopped in the car and went to the restaurant, and the gentleman I was speaking with gave me the missing bread and offered us garlic to go with the bread, as well as drinks. I'm very glad I took him up on his offer for the garlic. The little mix up was no big deal to us, but he did everything possible to make it right, which was a welcome surprise. On to the food. I'll preface this by saying I've never had falafel but I've had more than my fair share of shawarma. We started with the falafel, which was still hot and smelled incredible. The texture was perfect, a pleasant crunch that gave way to a sweet herbaceousness. I'm normally a meat eater, but this falafel hit the spot. The tahini was mellow and coated the falafel so that the flavor was in every bite. It added a nice, garlic filled nuttiness to the falafel and made for an incredible first experience with this dish. Absolute A+ all around. The chicken shawarma was next. I won't dance around it, their shawarma blows away the competition. All the competition, and yes that includes Bucharest Grill. I used to take friends who visited there, but now I've got a new shawarma spot. The chicken was, tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. The garlic sauce was perfectly mixed in with the chicken, and didn't overpower the meat's flavor. The pickles and tomato rounded out the shawarma and made it nothing less than perfect. If you eat here, and you should, get a shawarma. You won't regret it. I didn't get to try the fattoush, my wife ate it before I could even try it. She said it was fresh, the dressing popped, and the fried pita had an excellent crunch. We both had the baby bread, and the garlic the gentleman was kind enough to include made for a perfect match. Overall 100% Grade A Experience. If you don't eat here, you're missing out. read more

Not sure if I caught them on an off day but food was far from "delicious". I ordered the Chicken Shawarma meal. Chicken was very dry, and it was such a small amount compared to other Mediterranean places I've visited. I had hoped to share the meal with my boyfriend and it was hardly satisfying for either of us. The garlic sauce I got on the side was very weak, basically no taste. The slowest, worst Mediterranean food I've ever had. Ordered carry out was told 20 minutes, took 42 minutes must be so they could dry the chicken out, it was so flat and dry like frozen Kroger brand chicken breast.
