    Beef Shawarma

We were visiting Michigan and saw this place. The owner NEHRU was very comforting and kind The food we had was amazing, full of flavor. Even the rice was great (was rich in flavor) The place is kind of cozy and small but food is great. Would definitely recommend the beef shawarma

Stopped by here tonight for the first time, after seeing a @chowdowndetroit video about them recently. I love shawarma and had been craving it lately. I was seeing a movie down the street at AMC, and this was only a 7-minute drive from there. They are very fast - I was in and out within 5 minutes! Also, the prices are extremely reasonable - their chicken shawarma is $5.99 (I saw it was $6.99 on DoorDash btw) so with tax it cost me $6.35. it's also huge - I was hungry tonight so I ate all of it, but if you have a smaller appetite you can probably make two meals out of it. Service was fast and friendly at the register, also. Looking forward to coming back here and trying more of the menu.

Was hungry and wanted something large and of good value - this place is it. God the Tray # 1 which feeds 2-4 people. It definitely feeds 4 people or two very hungry people. It was very well worth it. It includes all 6 meats on a bed of rice, stews which go on top of the rice, pickled vegetables which added nice crunch. I also added hummus which their version was not bad at all. The picture that I took of the tray - just know the bottom is quite shallow it is a single layer of meat covering the top and rice all on the bottom. One spoonful can touch the bottom. Service was nice when I picked up my to go order. Meat was tender and not too heavy. Will come back if looking for good value large quantity and good quality Mediterranean food.

I like that this place is so close to home, just a town over in fact. It's not open for dine-in yet as of May 10th. Small strip mall. It looks newish. Ordered the chicken kafta without rice or stew , a large Fattoush and a chicken shawarma without the rice or stew and a large hummus. They will sprinkle some cayenne pepper on it to make it spicy. It's a small mom and pop shop. The woman behind the counter is super friendly and warm and calls everyone sweetheart. $40.24. The woman said please don't complain about the food being too spicy. Food smells good. The service and staff are great. The hummus was super smooth, but it had an odd taste to it and it wasn't the cayenne either. The Fattoush salad was fine, dressing was decent. Good mix and blend of veggies. The chicken shawarma meat was average, not dry, but not moist either. The pickled cabbage was good. The chicken kafta was okay, not dry, not super moist either, lacking in flavor. The kafta could have used more parsley and seasonings for me. Everything had a sprinkling of cayenne, but nothing was super flavorful and nothing was spicy at all.

Ok, this review is a LONG time coming. I always mean to take pictures prior to eating, but I forget every single time. Since discovering this place in August, we have been back at least twice a month. Let's start off with the owners. They are quite possibly the sweetest couple I've ever met. Ever! On our first visit, They forgot one of my sandwiches, but the owner called while I was on my way home -I was already too far away- and told me to come in again and he'll make it right. Needless to say, the food was so good, we went back that same week. Now, on to the food. We have tried a chicken shawarma sandwich, chicken kafta entree, beef kafta sandwich, tabouli, garlic spread, and chicken lemon rice soup. Everything has been absolutely delicious! My go-to is the chicken kafta entree- the chicken is always amazing and their rice, don't even get me started! Their shawarma is good, but I don't care for the pickled cabbage and ranch on it, the garlic spread is enough. Speaking of garlic spread, I've never tasted anything like the spread at Kabob Royale. It's whipped to perfection and is so fluffy, my god, it is to DIE for! In our most recent visit, I managed to get a picture of the beef kafta sandwich- sans the cabbage and ranch, and the chicken kafta entree.

Kabob Royale, Madison Heights. Delicious garlic sauce, hummus, lentil soup, cabbage.

Awesome! So good. The pita was thin, crispy, but soft. And added bonus, they put pickles instead of cucumber in the sandwich. So good

As such, there was a plethora of excellent restaurants to select from offering Middle Eastern cuisine, one of the best of which was Asya. As is my penchant, when visiting a new city I pop open my trusty Yelp app for places to try and Asya was one of the first recommendations; it doesn't hurt that some of the locals also said they serve up tasty food. Located in a strip mall off the intersection of a busy road, the parking lot is tight, so if there are no spots directly in front of the restaurants, there is more availability off to the side. I stopped by a few times while I was in town, and Asya does a brisk take-out business, especially during the predictable lunch and dinner hours. I dined in both times, so I could enjoy my meal hot and "fresh from the kitchen." The interior is fairly nondescript with tile flooring, black tables/chair combos, and a neutral color palate. But because the dining room is "cozy," it can definitely get loud with just a few tables of hungry diners. The service and hospitality are superior, as to be expected from a family run establishment. I was always greeted with a warm smile and even after just a few visits, the staff seemed to recognize me. I really like the fact that for most of their entrees, you can order either a lunch or dinner portion. The shish kafta was an AMAZING deal at $12.99 at lunch. In addition to the main dish, it is served with either a salad or soup. I opted for the lentil soup, and it was tasty. Soft lentils were stewed in a creamy base and served with a bowl of individually wrapped pita slices. Honestly, I was already getting a bit full after just the soup course. Then the generous portion of the shish kafta arrived and I could only finish 1/2 of the plate, before taking the remaining portion home for dinner. The skewered meat patties were nicely seasoned with grated yellow onion, garlic, parsley, finely chopped mint, salt/black pepper, Sumac, cinnamon, as well as other spices. They were grilled just enough to have a nice char on the exterior, yet still remain moist. Instead of French Fries, I opted to have the yellow rice which was perfect for making mini-sandwiches with the leftover pita slices from my soup. To finish the meal, I had a few pieces of the house made baklava, which was flaky and not too sweet; perfect with my afternoon coffee. On another occasion, I also got the chicken shawarma, which again, was a bargain at $6.50 (before tax) and super filling with a side of fries. There are also many good Middle Eastern restaurants in the DC area, but not the variety of "mom and pop" places like Asya and definitely not at their price point and value.

Good food fresh. Great customer service, stopped in for lunch . Will visit again soon!!!read more
