What a stellar business. After removing a couple of links from a metal band I'd ordered online, I needed to remove one or two more. But the tool that came with the band bent so badly that I couldn't get the spring bars out of the links. I took it into this shop and one of the gentlemen who works there helped me out in a jiffy. I was welcomed with a warm smile from an older gentleman (not sure what his name was). He was very professional, and extremely honest. He only charged me $10 for the battery replacement on my Diesel watch. I shopped around and I got estimates anywhere from 20$(Cortez Jewelers) - $30(Time To Repair-Tyler Mall). I am stunned to have paid third of the price for the battery. Very respectful and polite gentleman, if you have ANY watches that need to be serviced or any battery replacement, this is the place to shop. To Alexander, I came by last week with a Cuckoo Clock who's music movement stopped working... I carefully followed your advice and oiled the clock and music box movements but it still wasn't running. Then I removed the music box and both the chain mechanism and the music movement freed up. (maybe the drive gears were binding) After running it through many many revolutions and reoiling the music box with another drop of special clock oil I reinstalled and viola, it works again. Purchased a Musical Motion Wall clock. I noticed that the rotary carousel motion was inconsistent regarding the simulation of motion seen on a typical anniversary clock. When contacting tech support it was felt that the battery was a problem. I assured support that as a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Electronics that the power source was not the problem but a missing part of the spindle that is needed to engages the toothed area of the Carousel. Someone at work told me about this shop a few years ago. I am not sure how long it has been in this location as I basically grew up around the corner in the 80's lol but glad to have it here in Riverside and I saw an award from the mayor that said you have been here for 25 years! Super awesome. Not too many businesses can say that- so thats should tell you that they are doing something right! I came here twice now for batteries in my time keeping devices. One little table clock was $5 for the battery and I love that it works because I bought it for .99 cents on eBay! Two watches batteries cost $10- one because it was "complicated with screws" the second because it had three batteries inside. All good, fair price to pay to get things working again! Now here's my luck- Got the new battery, hit the hubby up to set the time on the digital one she didn't set up for me for some odd reason. Wore it the next day and the wristband broke! Ugh. lol I was wearing it for the heart rate monitor. Oh well. Time to invest in another band or another watch- too bad I am way too cheap for an Apple Watch lol I wonder if he works on those? Good family owned business! I rarely need to get my watches fixed and on the rare occasions that I do, I want the best touching and working on them. My gf and I LOVE watches and we have built a pretty nice collection of them over the years. Alexander clocks and watches have been in the clock business for over 30 years, so you know they know a thing or two about watches. When you first walk in you immediately get greeted by either Alex sr or Alex jr. they asses your watches and let you know their recommendations. Turn around is pretty quick. I dropped off about 12 watches and I got them back in a week. Price for battery replacements vary 5-10$ depending on watch, watch cleaning varies from 30-45 for a deep clean and watch repair varies from 30-100+ depending on the damage. There is plenty of parking as well which is a plus. If you're a watch collector like us, inside their store they have a nice assortment of brands that they sell. I have a 30 year old, 6' Big Ben Chiming clock that stopped Chiming. No point in having a silent clock other than its a decorative mahogany dust-catcher. Alex IS the clock technician. Fixed right the first time; accurate time and a melodious tone, thanks to him. Alex has the skill-set and the personal attitude that makes it a pleasure to do business with him. It takes a craftsman to deal with the intricacies of a mechanism such as my 66th Aniversary Edition possesses. I would say that his work is akin to a Rolex/Lexus experience. Long story short, I went to Alexander's, they fixed my watch, repaired some internal components and replaced crystal and the watch is once again perfect. I stopped by and noticed I had been neglectful in checking the stores hours. I was three minutes past the closing time. [4pm] Most businesses (even the ones I think NEED the business) would've closed their doors and or told me to come back tomorrow. That would've been a bummer considering I drove 4 miles out from home to get here. Well the gentleman and his father didn't turn me away and not only answered the questions and concerns I had about my watch, they also replaced the battery I needed in under 5 minutes!
