Her follow-up with Lisa Cohen, PA-C was 9:30 a.m., the only time offered. We were up at 6:00 getting her ready. I called from the road to say we were running late. We arrived at 9:44. The entrance has heavy wood doors and no automatic opener -- I question whether it meets ADA requirements. I held one open with my body while pushing her wheelchair through, alone, in front of the front desk. Nobody stood up. Then I was told that because we were 14 minutes late, she would not be seen. I explained the surgery and the rehab. I asked for an exception. The receptionist said no. A second staff member said no. She went home without ever being examined. If 14 minutes is the hard line, and nobody will open a door for a woman who can't walk, you know what kind of office this is before you reach the exam room. We transferred her care. I have twice had matters come up in between appointments and this office was unprofessional- not returning phone calls as promised or not returning them by a certain time before you're seen by another doctor on the same health matter. My doctor promised to manage (in writing) the lovonox bridge I will need before upcoming surgery. He and his nurse totally dropped the ball. It will be managed by my internist instead. The office staff at my last visit to the office acted like 'what the hell are you doing here' when I said I had a 9 a.m. appointment to have my PT/INR measured. The unprofessional treatment I have gotten from this office, one of its doctors and his nurse, would not make me recommend them to other patients.

I don't know if many will view this because I don't think most people go to Yelp for doctors reviews, however, I CANNOT EXPRESS HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS DOCTOR & DOCTOR'S office enough!! My mom has been seeing Dr. Lakow for years & I've recently been going through extreme anxiety, panic attacks, and heart palpitations so I decided to go and get my heart checked to make sure I was ok. Dr. Lakow made me feel really comfortable. He assured me that I was ok and he takes his time to answer any questions and just talk with you. You can tell that he genuinely cares about his patients. He will do tests that are necessary to see if you have any abnormalities and he will determine what is best for you. I really like the fact that he is not quick to just diagnose you with something and give you medicine and send you on your way. For example, I had high blood pressure a couple of times and he told me not to worry at all. He told me that it's stress and he believes you should treat the stress and not the high blood pressure because treating the stress will cure the high blood pressure! A lot of other doctors would probably make you a little scared thinking and saying that there may be something more serious going on and suggest that you get put on medicine. He does not believe in putting people on medications unless it is absolutely necessary ESPECIALLY if you are young, like me! Another really cool thing about the office itself is that there is a suggestion box to write down comments/ suggestions about the office and the doctors. It can be anonymous & no one else sees them besides the staff/ doctors, I'm guessing. I feel like every doctors office should have this option! If you want to or need to see a cardiologist and you live in West Palm Beach, FL, then I highly, HIGHLY recommend Dr. Lakow !!
