They are kind and compassionate, but most importantly, they are knowledgeable and patient. They exhaust all non invasive treatments before suggesting surgery - they truly want what's best for the patient. Even better is the fact most of the less invasive options (ablation, injections, etc) are done right in office, allowing for continuity of care and more expediency. I was a very anxious patient leading up to my surgery and my multiple repeated questions were answered with care and compassion. I had multiple visits with the surgeon (Dr. Eisler) before settling on surgery and feeling truly comfortable because of a less than optimal previous spine surgery (different dr). He was an active listener and participant in my care the entire time. He reassured me he would meet with as many times as necessary to make sure I felt comfortable and educated on my condition and needed surgery. I'm happy to say the majority of my pain is gone post surgery (4 months) and I have my life back. I can't thank Dr, Eisler and his team enough. As an avid rugby player (20+ years) I needed the expertise of the office to address issues with my shoulder and then, after a work place injury that severely damaged my left knee, I witnessed first hand the amazing talents of this practice. With Orthopedic Sports Specialists, it is not just about an in and out surgery. More appropriately, you bring them the problem and then the "team" goes to work. In house Xray technology, extremely talented surgeons and then, to complete the recovery, one of the best Physical Therapy teams that I have ever encountered. The team approach means that patient care is directed by the surgeon every step of the way - in fact. Dr. Merrill, one of the three orthopods, routinely would confer with the in house physical therapists to assure clear direction for speedy recovery. In the spring of 2026, I had a complete knee replacement. Many of my colleagues had gone through knee replacement surgery and what they experienced was hospital stays, wheel chairs and crutches. Because of this group's dynamic approach. I not only walked out of the operating room, I was in physical therapy the next morning in the office with a very quick recovery. Truly remarkable when you consider how badly injured I was with intense pain every time I walked. When I got to center I asked if I would owe anything and the person at the desk said only $45 for the office visit. Today I got a bill for $222. I asked billing why and they said $45 for the office visit and the difference was my co-pay that my insurance required I pay. If I knew that the bill would be so high I would never have done the evaluation. I was not having any symptoms except a bulging vein. I would tell anyone considering going to them get the payment information in writing. Very mad at the bill I received.

They suggested x-rays and had them available to be taken immediately, but didn't pressure me at all when I said I preferred no x-rays. The doctor (maybe was a PA) was detailed and thorough, not at all rushed. Very comprehensive. She took a holistic approach in addition to (not instead of) traditional treatment. She got me a brace right away with no delay due to insurance. I had gone to a different orthopedic urgent care in Rocky Hill 2 to 3 years ago for a similar injury, and that place didn't even get me a brace. They (the other place) said they had to wait for insurance approval. They never got the approval. Here they got me the brace right away, and called in my prescriptions right away, which seem to be very helpful. She (the PA) gave me some additional recommendations and important advice. I seem to be getting much better. I don't remember the doctor's name, but the prescription bottles say M Wiggins.

However, when you need to go to one - it's good to know there are physician's like Dr. Steven Selden, an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine, who are willing and able to put you back together and keep you moving forward. As an athlete himself, he knows that injuries however big or small can be earth shattering to his patients - whether they are sports enthusiasts or not. I have been seeking treatment with him for several years for various ailments - from several bouts of tendinitis to a more recent stress injury - and he has always been very caring and compassionate - answering all of my questions and concerns and taking the time to make sure I understate my diagnosis and treatment options. I have never felt rushed and always feel that I have received a thorough examination. Additionally, the staff at Orthopedic Associates of Central Connecticut, where he practices, have always worked at a level of professionalism that has not wavered even on my worse days.
