This review is regarding our free estimate. We had seen the kiosk at Sam's club advertising free estimates on household services and repairs and had previously been told by a friend that our siding would probably need to be replaced within 5 years due to an issue we were experiencing. We figured it would be a good idea to get a quote and find out how much of an expense we're looking at so we could start setting aside some money. I got a little scared when not only did we get two confirmation calls, but also a third 'day before' reminder call where the caller then transfered me to a manager to double confirm. I had to promise that both homeowners would be present. No surprise that our discomfort increased with each call. We were ready for a HARD SELL, but let me tell you.... it never came. Nathaniel called to tell us when he was on the way and asked if it would be OK to show up a little earlier than our appointment time. Sure thing. Thanks for asking. He was very polite and also told us what kind of vehicle he would arrive in so we would know it was him at the door. When he arrived he did a walk around the house with us to hear our concerns. He explained that the issue we'd been having was NOT at all related to our siding and that it's an easy fix for a handyman, and in fact too small of a job for Alenco. He then proceeded to give us a masterclass on siding and explain exactly what kind we had, what maintenance (things like caulking) we ought to be doing and how frequently. He also told us we would get another 25+ years out of our siding if it was upkept. Guys, we're newbies here. He could totally have told us a tall tale and suckered us into some huge expense we didn't need. He was so nice, and never once gave us even a hint of attitude that we had wasted his time. He actually gave me a bid on a yellow pad then expected me to accept that as a formal quote. He refused to give me documentation and warranty info. Stay away from Alenco. They destroyed my house and stated that the damage didn't fall under contract. They installed my siding and did not install flashing causing damage to the exterior walls. It took several years from the water damage to surface and they wouldn't do a thing. Cost several thousands of dollars to get it fixed. Later I got new windows and the gentleman who installed them had worked for Alenco and left because they were not installing them correctly and did not stand behind their work. Wanted a tub removed and walk in shower to replace it. Went with Alenco after Jaccuzi screwed up by not showing to our scheduled appt time. Alenco promised a one day install, after installer showed up he stated it would be a 2 day install as not ALL parts were in yet. Afteer installer got done tearing everything need out he found that the floor for the shower was not the right size and it could take 7-10 weeks to the right one. Called Project manage Ross who said he would try to find one of correct size and gives us and update the following Monday. Monday came no call no update. Called today Wed 13 Aug x 2 1 Call- Ross not available, 2nd call--Ross had left for the day. Seems these people and the company are great at taking $$$$ but don't like to return any phone calls/messages to customer. Been 8 days without a shower to to use, No stituation updates as to wheen need part will be in, No Email or text messages as to update on project. this company gives one the imprassion as to "We got their money so screw them" NOT HAPPY WITH THIS COMPANY IN ANY SENSE OF THE WORD, DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY FOR AND RENOVATIONS OR PROJECTS, They'll probably screw you over just as they have done us. I had someone from Alenco come out because I was looking in to getting my siding redone. I explained my budget and was insured of getting the very best value and price. So he does his measurements and crunches his numbers and when we speak about prices, he asked me what I thought the price was. Now, when I said my number (which is what my budget was within), he laughs straight in my face. Like I made a joke. So I asked him what HIS price was and he gave me a quote of almost 50 THOUSAND DOLLARS. I wish I were joking. I have the bid he gave me. Now, for a 1400 square foot house to cost 50 thousand dollars they either think Im rich(we've already established I was not) or stupid, which I am also not. He was absolutely serious. I have never been so insulted in my LIFE. If this is how they treat POTENTIAL customers, Id hate to see how he treats his current customers. I also love how thwy have another website where they have filtered out all of the negative reviews to give themselves an almost 5 star review history. I had all 10 windows installed around 5 years ago. Three of the new windows had the coil balance break on them. I called Alenco to have them do a warranty service under "their" Lifetime Limited Warranty, but they told me the window manufacturer went bankrupt and they could no longer get parts for the windows. They offered to sell me new windows. WHAT! I believe Lifetime Warranty means just that; repair or replace for as long as I own the home. This was not the manufacturers warranty but Alenco's. NEVER BUY FROM THEM. They lied to me. They will take your money but not stand behind the product they sell. read more

My daughter scheduled an appointment for window replacement project-7 windows at my home. She listed me as direct contact. Rep came out to measure and prepare bid as scheduled. When he arrived he asked for my daughter. I told him that she wasn't there, that it was my project, that daughter had scheduled the appointment for me. He looked me up and down and saw a little old gray haired woman. He asked if my husband would be joining us. I said no husband . He asked if I was the home owner. I said I am. He asked if I was "authorized" to approve contract. I said I am. He said he would rather meet when daughter could be there. Second appointment reluctantly scheduled. Day of second appointment company called to reschedule. I then notified company via their website that there was no need to schedule any more appointments with me. Then I get a call from customer service manager insinuating that I must be senile or stupid because they had no record of any appointments-past or future. I returned that call to assure the customer service manager that I indeed had appointments with them, had an insulting encounter with their rep ( gave his name, the date and time of the visit), that I had a call from another customer service rep from same number to reschedule today's s appointment, and that I may be older but I am neither senile, stupid, or decrepit. After years of seeing the ads on television, my husband and I ran into an Alenco representative at our local Costco. Weird, we thought, but if Costco trusts them, we'll give it a try for installing a new shower in our bedroom suite bathroom. The young man who came to our home to discuss the possibilities was very courteous and not too pushy. We sealed the deal and booked an install date. The men who came to do the work were punctual, very considerate of our time and space, congenial, courteous, and professional. They were very good about asking us questions as we went along to make sure everything is right, and they were terrific about addressing any questions or concerns we had. In just 3 days time our ugly old jet tub is OUTTA HERE, and we have a new shower! The glass company has yet to install the custom glass, but the foundation has been laid. We received some sort of discount through Costco, but it was still pricey. Worth it? That remains to be seen, but we think so. Just to have that old tub gone, a larger shower, and space for storage is of great value! read more

BEWARE - WARRANTY IS A JOKE. THEY DO NOT STANDY BEHIND THE PRODUCTS THEY SELL. We purchased windows from them years ago. They were supposed to have a lifetime warranty. Apparently that only covers part of the window. Most of our window sills have peeled and look terrible. I called during Covid and they said they could come out and redo the sills and the outside window frames for a $50 service call + $10 per window. I just called this week and the price has gone up to $95 service call AND $325 PER WINDOW. All for something that was obviously poor quality and was supposed to have a lifetime warranty. They said the company who manufactured that part of the window went bankrupt. read more

we had one of Alencos sales persons come to our home to give us quotes on 2 exterior doors. what a colossal disappointment. He was so tied into the dog and pony show on his laptop that is seemed very contrived and and forced. When he shared that they did not have an exact fit for our oversized basement door we shared that we would not be able to use them. upon further measurements we decided we could make work the size they had available.. We called and emailed him to let him know we would like to proceed with the quote. We received ZERO response from him, NOTHING. I have never met a more unprofessional sales person in my life. Just an FYI, nobody wants to hear 15 minutes of why your daughter is so talented. Waste of our time. read more

Horrible experience. I filled out an online form about windows and an Alenco rep texted me and another one called me. This was on a Thursday and the appointment was made for Monday. On Monday I booked a babysitter and went over to the house to meet the rep and no one ever showed up. I even planned to have my husband meet us because they did not want to meet without both decision-makers present. I called and texted while waiting and never got any response. The next morning, I got a message saying that they didn't send anyone because they had tried to call to confirm the appointment and I didn't answer. First of all, that's false, and second that is wild to me. Looking at the other yelp reviews, I think we dodged a huge bullet. read more

Complete rip off, Preying on elderly!!! Spoke with sales rep on 3/16/21 and ordered a handicap shower for an elderly resident. Total price $8429. Paid $2500 deposit that day. Install was supposed to be completed 10-12 weeks. Called to get a breakdown on pricing for taxes, wouldn't provide it. Was called to say product was in and schedule install returned call to schedule multiple times and couldn't get calls back. Waited over 6 months, no contact. They refused refund. So we have no handicap shower, and were out the $2500 read more

Alanco sell cheaply made windows which doesn't last more than couple of years. They promise that this window is of best quality and they are under their lifetime warranty. When problem happen their technicians give well this is working as it supposed to be bla.. bla.... Alanco is just applying all marketing tricks to sell cheap windows. Their installation is poor, they don't install it properly. I have few old windows to be replaced but now will not consider Alanco anymore. read more

If you're looking for a siding contractor, run away from this one! Horrible experience. Siding went wrong after less than one year. They did not honor their warranty on workmanship or the product. Said they no longer represented the manufacturer. However, their website contradicted that statement. 18 months later and two visits to the house and they denied to step-up. They even failed to respond to the Missouri Attorney General request for info. Same for Kansas Attorney General's office. After their second visit to the house to supposedly take measurements and photos, which never happened, they still ignored our requests for help. We reached out to a reputable company to correct ALENCO's faulty installation. Shop around and don't believe advertisements and radio/T.V. personalities touting their services. read more

there "lifetime" warranty is BS. both my sliding patio doors have broken handles. broke about 8 years after install. when I called to have them replace the handles, they told me it would cost over $600 because the door manufacturer went out of business, but salesman told us they manufacture their own doors and windows. I was told a lot of their customers are just replacing the doors instead, which tells me they know there's a problem with the door handles, and was also told they ordered as many extra handles as they could before the manufacturer went out of business, and once those handles are gone, I have no choice but to replace the door, and the longer I wait to replace the handles, the more the price goes up. when I called back a few months later to see if I could get them to honor the warranty and replace the handles, the handles were now over $900. why would the price go up if they bought them all at once? I had 4 other windows I was going to have them replace, but they've lost my business for good. read more

I would give you all a zero. The cells rep told us that elanco would come and service the door for a lifetime 100%. They're telling me now that the manufacturer of the door went out of business and they're not backing that and saying that we'd have a service charge and the charge $60 an hour plus the $95 fee. We've had the since 2015 And was going to purchase another glass sliding door but since they're not willing to service it and stand behind who they use for manufacturing we will not be getting another door through them and I would not recommend a link however. The service representative told me that they've never had sales reps to other people that basically calling me a liar. Crap customer service and their rating say so through these reviews. We bought a house from a family member 1 and 1/2 years ago who had recently had the master bathroom remodeled (one year-ish prior). One of the features/benefits they use is that the caulking for the bathroom shower is mold PROOF. Not resistant....mold proof. This was not the case in this remodel. There were obvious signs of mold at the bottom of the shower when we took possession of the house however it spread very fast. I understood the specific instructions of not using chemicals containing ammonia however I could not keep it from spreading. I am a cleaner-I want the area I clean myself in to be clean. I began inspecting the caulking and found a few areas (mainly higher up) that were missed but nothing that would suggest the mold to be where it was at the bottom. Also to be noted, it has glass doors (no tub) and there was no caulk under the door frame. There is a slight lip on the shower floor but it doesn't deter water from flooding onto the tile outside of the shower. For whatever reason said family member decided to use this company again...even knowing about the mold issue at hand. When the sales person mentioned the "mold proof caulk" they called them out on it. Mentioned their previous house showed mold within a year. This is where it gets interesting. The sales person then said that they would contact us and make it right. They did in fact call us-quoted $95. To be honest I was dreading removing the caulk and redoing it myself. It has now been almost 3 years and no one from our side had contacted them on the issue so I deemed it fair. Can't fix what they don't know is wrong right? So, we attempted to make an appointment and requested that they add a matching floating 3 tier shelf while they are here. The person, John, said he would need to get us a quote on the shelf and get back to us and then we could schedule a date. Guess what??!! Call never came. When we followed up it was John who answered. And John seemed to have forgotten all about it. Ok. Fine. We are all human-mistakes are made. At the end of the day we have lived with this for 1 1/2...what's another 3 weeks. John even went so far is to not only apologize but to throw the shelf in for free!! SWEET!!! No. Not sweet. John forgot what address. Was confused and thought it was the previous owners new house, not ours, called and FORGOT TO ORDER THE SHELF. To top it off, the installer (who was super nice and I'm sure he was just doing what he was told to do) only removes 3 strips of bad caulk, over-layed caulk in the other spots and to top it off..used a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COLOR OF CAULK. I am seriously angry at this point. Why? Why not just say I don't have the right stuff? Just say something. Originally this remodel cost just over $13,000. Maybe that isn't a lot to them...or to you...but it is to me. I can accept our negligence in not calling it out sooner. But, when you offer a quote to re-caulk the shower and install a shelf I would expect you to do just so and at least use the same color caulk. Am I missing something here? read more

I have just had to mop my basement floor for the 4th time this season. Alenco sent a very bad gutter company. These are expensive covered gutters. I complained and they sent a new gutter company. This latest man was a con artist. I told him I was willing to pay him on top of what Alenco would do to make up for their poor installation. He charged me an extra $150 and used an invoice that said Goodfellows. I have had flood after flood. I have called a roofing company that I know is good. They said that the original downspouts from 40 years ago were used and they are too small. I have lived in this house 42 years and the basement was always dry. My neighbors basements are dry. Never want to hear from Alenco again ! I called asking for an appointment to get a bid on 3 exterior doors and possible garage doors. Appointment was made, Rep showed up. When Rep was told I would be the only one present, that my husband was at work. It was very Convenient that a family emergency came up. He had my measurements and plan was to follow up with my options in a day or two. Crickets ...never heard a word. Called office to ask about bid..was told I would get a follow up call. Still no call. Then I get an appointment followup call to reschedule the appointment for when my husband would be present. I have made thousands of dollars in purchases without my husband present. I get all info needed, then the both of us sit down go over all info I collected then decide which direction to go. I was put in the computer as a one-legger because my husband wasn't there & they refused to give a bid on work without him. We had Alenco's Green Energy Barrier and windows installed in our home. The salesman explained how the product worked, as well as how much they would save us. After only a couple weeks, they called to set up an installation date. We got it installed just in time for winter! We've lived in that house for almost 17 years, and we noticed the difference on the very first day. The drafty spots were gone, the windows weren't drafty, and all of the rooms were the same temperature! I recommend Alenco to all of my family and friends. I had a great experience with all aspects of this company, and will definitely be using Alenco for any future home improvement projects. Great company! read more

Alenco came over on a Saturday to give us an estimate. The salesman assured us that the job would not be any trouble and we wrote him a check as a deposit. Alenco went on to cash our check, but then called us three weeks after the initial bid and after a second person from the company came over to look at the job, and told us that they could not complete our project. We were very upset that it took three weeks to determine this after the Sales guy assured us that our job could be done. When asked for the company to work with us to find a solution, they refused. Ran into a promoter in a store and figured I could use information on windows and the thermal shield insulator. I just got into an old house with lots of issues and will be replacing windows on the ground floor. When the company called to schedule, the woman was pushing hard to try to get a time scheduled with both me and my wife. As I work long hours during the day and she has school weekday evenings and works weekend evenings, there is no good time to catch us both at home. I found that mildly irritating. A man my wife had asked about getting more information about windows then called and tried to get her to commit to an appointment time we could both make. That was majorly irritating. It doesn't matter if my wife is present or not, as I'm the person deciding which windows get replaced and with what. I'm guessing the company has some specific sales pitch worked out targeting the wife and intended to create a sale on the spot. Well, that couldn't happen with us. The next evening, when I had the appointment scheduled, nobody showed up. Nobody called to say they wouldn't show up. I stopped work early to be ready on time, so I'm a bit displeased at the lack of respect shown. And next summer when I'm replacing windows, I won't be buying any from Alenco. read more

I hired Alenco to install a patio enclosure. After a year of trying to get them to fix issues, they are still not fixed. They never show up on schedule when they say they will. Honestly I'm shocked how the Company is still in business. I've never written a bad review for a Company in 15 years of home ownership. They've tried to fix the same issue over the course of a year and leave the job unfinished. I'm exhausted. No more draft, cleaning them is a synch, and you can't beat the warranty. The staff was easy to work with, organized, professional and friendly.
