I've been to Competitive Aquatic Supply in Irvine and have seen them peddling their supplies at local swim meets. But, it wasn't until recently that I made my way to their warehouse/store in Huntington Beach. They are located in what looks like an industrial area. Parking is plentiful in their lot. They are much larger and carry more supplies than their Irvine store. As you walk in, they have suits on their bargain racks. Some great deals can be had on competition and training suits. They carry all kinds of suits including technical suits. In addition to suits, they also have fins, goggles and other equipment for swimming. The employees are nice and helpful. They can help fit you for goggles and other equipment they sell, yet they don't use high pressure sales tactics. This is a great place for swimmers, of all levels to get their gear. They have suits for both male and female. Whether you compete or swim laps, this is the place for you.

After ordering, I called three times (September 14, 15, and 17). Each time, they told me they only had one suit in stock and were waiting for the other one to arrive, but they couldn't tell me when. On top of that, their customer service was rude. Instead of helping or giving me real answers, they made me feel like I was bothering them for asking about my own order. My order finally shipped on September 24, almost two weeks later. When it arrived on September 26, there was only one swimsuit in the package, even though the packing slip listed two. I paid $170.14 and only received half of my order. I waited so long because I needed these suits for a swim meet, and it was really stressful. If you need your suits by a certain date, I'd recommend calling first to make sure they actually have everything in stock before you order.

There is a small free parking lot on site, but it can be a bit challenging to exit at times when it's especially busy and people are driving fast on the freeway, since there is not a stop sign. I picked up some great limited edition Halloween themed merchandise and love it. It's basically the shop logo but done in Halloween style. I especially appreciate how they use higher quality heavyweight tees and better materials and not the cheap stuff. They have multiple rows of snowboards to browse through, at least 5. Along with quite the selection of bindings and boots to choose from on their wall. Each sticker price is a package deal that includes boots and bindings. We chose a board that was $519. We opted to upgrade our gear, which they gave $120 credit towards boots and $100 towards bindings. They have enough variety to fit your budget that includes options from current and past season to choose from. Binding installation was also included in the package. Boots we chose were priced at $310 in store (online price $330) and bindings at $240 (online price $250). So we ended up paying $190 for the boots and $140 for the bindings. Our grand total came out to $928 with tax. Do the math and that comes out to a bang for your buck. We saved about $300 from the set we initially purchased at REI. Competitive prices and great customer service. I highly recommend stopping by :) pro tip: do some research on gear you are interested in before going, call in to check on brands and sizes you may be looking for, and try to come in on less busy hours like weekdays for the full experience.

Carl's vendor kept telling us that the item would be in "next week", but by mid-May I needed the life jacket the the coming weekend's racing. Carl was super understanding, invited me to come back down, fitted me into a Stohlquist life jacket - a better brand - and when I asked him what I owed him, he said, "You don't owe me anything, I just appreciate your patience." I am so pleased that I purchased from a local vendor and would HIGHLY recommend going to see Carl at the Sailing Pro Shop in Costa Mesa. He is willing to make recommendations over the phone, spends time with you in the shop. A really terrific experience. As good as it gets!

He offered to order from the manufacturer and have it delivered to the regatta venue. Unfortunately, the product never arrived, and we had to make other arrangements. After the regatta, we called the store to try to find out what happened. He said that the product had been delivered, so we asked for a tracking number so we could work with the delivery company / manufacturer to get a refund. Several unproductive (and rude) calls resulted in no tracking number. So no tracking number and no proof of delivery means no sale. My wife went in to the store to explain the situation and attempt to get a refund. Amidst much huffing and puffing, he finally offered and processed a refund. Lo and behold, nothing appeared back in the account in 11 days. I went in today to find out what happened. Again, he was rude and impatient, and I finally got him to offer a refund. Unable to work his own payment system, I had to walk him through the process. I actually found the previous refund transaction attempt and instead of sending the refund to the card, he sent it "to cash." (Have a nice screenshot of that) I tried explaining the difference between sending it to "cash" vs to "debit card" and that seemed to be too much for him. He actually ordered me out of the store with many flowering words and colorful descriptions. In the end state, I'm out $150 bucks, and have no Zhik PFD... I don't think you should go here until he learns how to work his own Clover POS (point of sale) system. He actually fired Zhik, so don't go there for Zhik products either. HTH.
