It was time to update my boots for an upcoming ski trip but I didn't want to wait to get to the mountain. I'm so glad I went to OC Snowsports. I had the most consultative, professional custom boot fitting experience of my life. I didn't expect that at all. Elvis and the team are incredibly experience and knowledgeable. They made sure everything fit perfectly. If you don't want blunt and direct honesty from a salesperson don't go here. They won't let you buy the wrong boots even if you want to :) If you want gear that fits you right and you want experienced professionals to tell you what you need, this is your place. If you are looking to just try on boots to buy, this is not the shop for you - as explicitly expressed by the owner/salesman. It is a two hour process and he will charge you $400 for his time on top of the cost of the boots. Atmosphere felt dismissive and arrogant, echoed by many of the reviews here. Ended up going to Phil's Ski & Snowboard, got fitted, bought boots and had a fantastic experience. read more

Don't bother. I've been to this shop a couple of times as it's about time to replace some of my equipment and it's next door to a feed store I like to visit to see the animals. The first time, the salesman was rude, dismissive, and arrogant. It's one thing to be confident, but this guy was an ass. My second visit, I was horrified to find out the rude salesman was the OWNER! There are so many great ski shops in town; what sets a business apart, and really provides value, is trust and customer service. I choose to support businesses who not only value me as a customer, but don't make me feel like I need a shower after walking out the door. read more

I had unique experience with the owner. He was extremely rude and condescending after asking a simple yes or no question. He also had to be asked multiple times to print the legal agreement so I could read it before he actually did it. If I had been asked kindly, I would've been more than happy to glance, sign, and get along with my day. Anger management classes might be helpful if you want to run a successful business and have happy repeat customers. The staff were knowledgable and helpful and if you avoid the older gentleman (owner) then you won't have a negative experience. read more

Came in today To get some boots Fitted. Elvis might as well have been A Boot and Ski fitting textbook. He had answers AND explanations to every question, and concern I had. He went the extra mile to make sure my boots fit to his -clearly- high standards. Darryl as an owner took the time to get to know me as a client and also offer his opinions. Incredible team. This place is all about skiing, the guys are great and the selection is endless. Cannot recommend them enough! read more

Terrible customer service and no parking waste of time! They were ignoring me and making rude comments don't go here or support this business! read more

So knowledgeable Elvis is the best boot fitter and the selection is second to none for all things for real skiers, great people.

Got fitted for new ski boots and the staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the process and the equipment! Also, bought some new skis and bindings! Super helpful and friendly! I'd go back again whenever I'm in need of more equipment ! read more

OC Snowsports is a banger of a shop. Too shelf gear with solid old school knowledge. Elvis spent hours patiently helping me - even sharing some epic ski stories of his life. Answered every question I had, plus schooled me up on where I errored. Darryl was a blast to talk to as well. I noticed repeat customers kept showing up who all appeared to have great relationships with Darryl and Elvis. A good sign. Come with an ear to hear and learn and you will value the insights, stories and recommendations. 5 stars. read more

Elvis was great fitting us for our first boots. He explained everything and was super patient.

I came to this place about a month ago on Sunday with my eight year old daughter, asking about ski rentals. There was no one at the rental desk, we walked to the shop side, very quiet with no customers but found a couple gentlemen working at the very far end. I asked if we could rent skis. They said NO. I was very surprised by the answer but I asked "Why?" They said it is because we will damage their skis. They don't want any scratches on their skis. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. They immediately told us to go somewhere else, and wanted us to leave. I couldn't believe it but I looked at my daughter, she looked very uncomfortable so we left there quickly. After what happened, I understood why there was no customer on Sunday. Very unpleasant experience. I will not visit this place again. read more

Avoid this place! I decided to check this place out after driving by so many times. I walked in and was very disappointed. The store looks tired and had very few options. In addition, some older man who worked there was extremely rude. No way I'm spending my money here and I won't be back. I can't believe this place is even in business. read more

Darryl and his staff go above and beyond to make sure your all your ski equipment needs are met. We bought our boots, skis & poles, travel bag, socks, pants, bibs, jackets, helmets, gloves and goggles - everything here. We bring our skiis back every year to have them "tuned" up before season begins. Awesome selection and they never make you feel rushed or pressured. Truly is a one stop shop. Excellent pricing - you can't go wrong here. read more

Best ski boots I ever had fitted. I was always having issues for years with boots and he picked out a pair that fit me perfectly. His expertise and advice are from years of experience. When I was in there a guy came from 2 hours away to get his ski boots. He said this place is known as the best in town! I finally ski now with no issues! The issue I was having was my calf size so he fit me for a boot that hit lower on my leg and made all the difference in the world! read more

Customer service was awful. Elvis was an absolute d*ck. Go somewhere else. Prices are higher than anywhere else I looked besides REI Ski Shop (some items on sale are good here) read more

**** Do Not Shop Here **** Owner is a DICK **** I have been skiing for over 45 years (raced at the national level back in the late '80's), have bought more than $50,000 worth of gear (including custom boots that were $1,800) in that time. I have been in a ton of shops and dealt with tons of people. No matter where I've gone, I've always had outstanding customer service - the ski industry is unique in that way. I've bought from manufacturer reps to expert boot fitters to local shops in Michigan, Vail, Lake Tahoe and Chicago, but...never have I met a bigger DICK in all of skiing (actually, anywhere) than this guy. It appears there are some positive reviews here, but I would take them with a grain of salt. If you want someone to thoughtfully address your questions, meet you at your ability, invest the time required to get you set up with equipment that meets your needs/satisfaction, and not try to soak you in the process, then this is not the shop for you. Buyer Beware! Kick rocks Darryl! read more

We stumbled in as they were closing and Elvis opened back up to help us outfit our son for an upcoming trip. He really took the time to find a helmet that was a perfect fit and provided personalized service for every item. We'll definitely be back! read more

Top notch service. These guys know their stuff. My ski boots didn't hurt the first time using them. Would recommend without reservation.

Was looking around for new ski boots and thankfully I came across OC Snowsports because I literally had no clue what I was doing. I went to a couple of different stores and all they did was measure my foot like I was buying a pair of hiking boots or tennis shoes. It's a whole lot more complicated than that I can assure you. In comes Elvis. He took the time to explain the process of actual boot fitting, not just "boot selling". After the process was explained we went ahead and got started. It took about two hours to complete the work, which I know sounds like a long time, but when we were finished I walked out with the best, most comfortable boots I could have asked for. Need custom boots? Look no further. Thanks OC Snowsports, Elvis and Daryl, see you again soon! read more

OC Snowsports - So sick! - Ski & Snowboard Shops Near Me - Costa Mesa, California

BEWARE!!! I called in advance to get my snowboard boots heat treated and the old man at the front desk said they can do it. I drove 30 min to OC Snowsports and when I arrived he was right of the bat extremely rude and arrogant! He then proceeded to tell me he won't help me even though it is my choice to make them bigger when he said that it will make them to big. He already even said it won't make them that much bigger prior to saying no. He was extremely rude not only to us but also to his employees as well. Never come here for anything !! Not worth your time! Or money! Go to PF Mcmullin in Santa Ana!! read more

Owner has a valid point regarding the importance of a good fitting boot however his attitude and approach in communicating this to customers is very poor. I asked him if I could see a particular boot in my size. In so many words, he immediately responded in a very rude and condescending voice that he will not let me look at that boot until have a boot fitting eval. which would take close to two hours. As constructive criticism for the owner, he should change his approach as I can see I am not the first person who he has approached this way. I am sure his business would be much more profitable and would have so many more customers if he would just change his attitude. With that being said, I will not set foot in his store again nor will I recommend him to even my worst enemies. read more

Knowledgeable sales staff but horribly rude and condescending owner. They have a failing business model by not charging for boot fitting and then getting angry when they don't have competitive pricing on the boots themselves. I offered to pay for the boot fitting time but got yelled at instead. A better business model would charge for boot fitting that is an offset to the cost of boots if they are purchased but difficult to justify purchasing the boots that are significantly overpriced. I spend thousands of dollars on ski equipment and clothing every year and I will not be spending it there. The owner should take a course in customer service and negotiation or get an anger management therapist. read more

Amazing ski shop! It has all the top notch equipment. Professional service that one typically finds only in big ski towns. Highly recommend getting ski boots here - huge selection and incredible staff who spends the time to make sure it's absolutely the best fit! The service also does a great job with ski tune ups, wax, and fixing scrapes. read more

Nice looking shop, good looking gear. But had a frustrating experience during their pre-season sale - understanding full well that during a sale things are a little off. Walked in and was told ski boots, goggles, apparel 30-50% off. But nothing is marked. Cool. Hoping to get the wife boots, nothing in her size. I was fitted for some boots, wife got a bib, some socks and goggles. Go to pay. Turns out the boots don't qualify for the discount. OK, bummer, just a waste of time. Got rung up for the rest, felt pricey. Turned out the discount wasn't applied to the bib and 2 pairs of socks. OK, sigh. Refund then applied to the bib but oh wait, the socks don't quality for the discount either. Ok, wtf. Spent 90 minutes of my day, 20 minutes stood at a sales counter. The young folks helping me seemed nice and apologetic, owner didn't seem to give much of a damn. If you want to pay the rack rate and there's no one else in the store, could be a nice place to shop. read more

Best ski shop in the area. They are honest and not greedy whatsoever. They will make sure to get you right and will give you advice so you don't look like a Jerry on the mountain. If you're looking to get set up correctly, this is where you want to be. Huge shoutout to Elvis for fitting my boots and the team for their knowledge. read more

Horrible service and abusive salesperson The arrogant sales guy wouldn't listen to our needs and went out of his way to belittle my wife I have no clue how these folks are still in business. No customer service and argumentative about everything Go somewhere else read more

As other reviewers have mentioned, the owner is insufferable. He's rude, angry, and condescending to everyone it seems. Their boot-fitter is great (Elvis) but the prices are much higher than what you'd pay elsewhere, even in a mountain town. He wanted $1,000 for pair of boots which is ridiculous. Same boots online are half that without any custom fitting albeit. Owner yelled at me for looking them up online. Good thing I did since he's charging double. Paid $600 for same service and boots in Colorado a week after visiting. Clothing selection is very poor also. Will not be returning. read more

The guy at the front desk was a total jerk! There was barely any snow boots, and when we asked about the sizing, he said that I couldn't try on the pair I wanted because they wouldn't look good for women's feet. Found the same boot at REI later and they fit great! Really don't recommend this place :( read more

I haven't skied in a few years as I had a back fusion and was so excited to support a local business and also get back in the game. From the jump the owner was combative and rude, a true jerk. He told me that every ski on the wall was intermediate but then when I grabbed one for more info he would snap at me "what, do you think you are an expert or something???" He told me that boot heaters 100% fail, yet my old boots that are 10 years old still have working heaters and he sells Rossignol boots with heaters in them??? In trying to understand their 1 1/2 hr boot fitting process and the mandatory $200 extra foot molding, he said "if you don't buy them, you will never be allowed back in my store again". Well, that's just fine with me. I don't think I've ever had such a discouraging experience when I was so excited to spend at least $1000 on new equipment!!!! What the heck! We are going to try Sports Basement in FV. They look like they have great equipment to rent. read more

Elvis is GREAT! I will never again buy ski boots from anyone else, I should have come here in the first place. He cares about doing what's best for the customer so they have their best personal skiing experience, even if that means not getting the sale. He is endlessly knowledgeable and helpful. If you want to get boots that are right for you and are fitted properly by an expert who has integrity, then come to OC Snowsports, and get it right the first time read more

Plain RUDE in how they looked at us just walking in, and the way the fat guy TOLD my young daughter not to take pics. Sure, that may be their policy (did not see sign(s)), but he could've asked nicely. read more

Good service, very knowledgeable. Great staff, boot fitting was great and fit me perfectly. Love you guys at OC snowsports!!

I went in because this shop is closer to my house than Phils. I was told by an older man that the cost was $45 for kids rentals per day. I asked him what the price would be if I booked for five days straight and he said it's still $45 a day. I told him that Phil's was only charging $25 so why was he going to charge $45? He literally said "you should just go to Phil's then". Omg. Sooooo, I did. I will never go back to the ski shop again read more

Terrible service Rude from thr moment I parked One jackwad at the register suggested igo to REI so I did and purchased the dame boot on his wall Completely arrogant and over priced also just basically rude. I wontt spend a penny at this dump. Save yourself some time and money Go to the green room , phils or the sports basement!!!! read more

This was my first visit to OC Snowsports, despite living only a couple blocks away. I rented skis & snowboards and I received excellent customer service from Darryl and his team! They are knowledgeable and helpful, and have a huge selection of gear for rent or to purchase. It was much less stressful, and cheaper, than renting at a ski resort. This is why I love local Costa Mesa small-businesses! Stop in and support these guys! read more

I love OC Snowsports, specially since they are an all ski spot! They also do rentals as well. Its nice to find a place with actually experienced workers that dont BS and dont try to just sell you on something you may not even need. I was in the market for some new ski boots and I am SO glad I found this place! The expert that helped me (Elvis) spent about 1.5hrs going through careful measurements, great recommendations, and was able to fit my foot into the best ski boots I've ever had! These guys dont mess around, they know what they are talking about! They may be particular but thats what makes them great since they know what they are talking about. I will be back for my other gear as well. Definitely give them a try if you are in the market. Highly recommended!!! read more

OC Snowsports - My new boots! K2 BFC - Ski & Snowboard Shops Near Me - Costa Mesa, California

My husband and I arrived to purchase brand new ski boots... Neither of us have owned boots for 10+ yrs but we will be skiing more now and wanted to invest in our feet and comfort! I will warn you all, the process takes a long time! We were in the shop for about 1 1/2 hours! But! The result is great! They really want to make sure you get the right boot for your foot! Length width, arch, any strange pressure points... It's all considered! My husband needed to have some heat molding done to make sure the fit was perfect. Don't go in with your heart set on a particular brand or color!! Let the experts do their work... I felt like I was in Harry Potter and the sorting hat was at work picking the right boot just for me! Make sure you have time to do this!! Feeling stressed and rushed will not help! But it's a great shop with great staff that really want you to have the right equipment for your best ski experience!! We will be back! read more

no follow up on boot order and when contacted they refused to pass along message to mgr

Do not go here, Darryl the owner is extremely rude and confrontational. We were looking for ski boots, he said he had tons of boots in our size but wouldn't allow us to try on unless we would 100% commit to buying. He yelled at my girlfriend just for asking, never seen anything like it. We went over to Phils after and the guys were laughing because they heard the same thing just happened to someone else. Better people and prices there too. read more

Rude, unfriendly, unhelpful. I called about 2 hours prior to their closing to ask if I could come in for a boot rental when my son got off work about 30 minutes before they closed. He's headed up to the mountain last minute tomorrow and I needed help getting him the gear. They bluntly said they couldn't help me and wished me good luck. I event called again to see if someone else was nicer - nope! I called Phils and they graciously said they'd help me, no issue and we were there well before closing. I had to drive a bit further but Phils came to the rescue again. Go to Phils! read more
