Don't bother. I've been to this shop a couple of times as it's about time to replace some of my equipment and it's next door to a feed store I like to visit to see the animals. The first time, the salesman was rude, dismissive, and arrogant. It's one thing to be confident, but this guy was an ass. My second visit, I was horrified to find out the rude salesman was the OWNER! There are so many great ski shops in town; what sets a business apart, and really provides value, is trust and customer service. I had unique experience with the owner. He was extremely rude and condescending after asking a simple yes or no question. He also had to be asked multiple times to print the legal agreement so I could read it before he actually did it. If I had been asked kindly, I would've been more than happy to glance, sign, and get along with my day. Anger management classes might be helpful if you want to run a successful business and have happy repeat customers. I came to this place about a month ago on Sunday with my eight year old daughter, asking about ski rentals. There was no one at the rental desk, we walked to the shop side, very quiet with no customers but found a couple gentlemen working at the very far end. I asked if we could rent skis. They said NO. I was very surprised by the answer but I asked "Why?" They said it is because we will damage their skis. They don't want any scratches on their skis. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. They immediately told us to go somewhere else, and wanted us to leave. I couldn't believe it but I looked at my daughter, she looked very uncomfortable so we left there quickly. After what happened, I understood why there was no customer on Sunday. Very unpleasant experience. I will not visit this place again. read more

Best ski boots I ever had fitted. I was always having issues for years with boots and he picked out a pair that fit me perfectly. His expertise and advice are from years of experience. When I was in there a guy came from 2 hours away to get his ski boots. He said this place is known as the best in town! I finally ski now with no issues! **** Do Not Shop Here **** Owner is a DICK **** I have been skiing for over 45 years (raced at the national level back in the late '80's), have bought more than $50,000 worth of gear (including custom boots that were $1,800) in that time. I have been in a ton of shops and dealt with tons of people. No matter where I've gone, I've always had outstanding customer service - the ski industry is unique in that way. I've bought from manufacturer reps to expert boot fitters to local shops in Michigan, Vail, Lake Tahoe and Chicago, but...never have I met a bigger DICK in all of skiing (actually, anywhere) than this guy. It appears there are some positive reviews here, but I would take them with a grain of salt. If you want someone to thoughtfully address your questions, meet you at your ability, invest the time required to get you set up with equipment that meets your needs/satisfaction, and not try to soak you in the process, then this is not the shop for you. Knowledgeable sales staff but horribly rude and condescending owner. They have a failing business model by not charging for boot fitting and then getting angry when they don't have competitive pricing on the boots themselves. I offered to pay for the boot fitting time but got yelled at instead. A better business model would charge for boot fitting that is an offset to the cost of boots if they are purchased but difficult to justify purchasing the boots that are significantly overpriced. I spend thousands of dollars on ski equipment and clothing every year and I will not be spending it there. The owner should take a course in customer service and negotiation or get an anger management therapist. read more

Owner has a valid point regarding the importance of a good fitting boot however his attitude and approach in communicating this to customers is very poor. I asked him if I could see a particular boot in my size. In so many words, he immediately responded in a very rude and condescending voice that he will not let me look at that boot until have a boot fitting eval. which would take close to two hours. As constructive criticism for the owner, he should change his approach as I can see I am not the first person who he has approached this way. I am sure his business would be much more profitable and would have so many more customers if he would just change his attitude. Was looking around for new ski boots and thankfully I came across OC Snowsports because I literally had no clue what I was doing. I went to a couple of different stores and all they did was measure my foot like I was buying a pair of hiking boots or tennis shoes. It's a whole lot more complicated than that I can assure you. In comes Elvis. He took the time to explain the process of actual boot fitting, not just "boot selling". After the process was explained we went ahead and got started. It took about two hours to complete the work, which I know sounds like a long time, but when we were finished I walked out with the best, most comfortable boots I could have asked for. As other reviewers have mentioned, the owner is insufferable. He's rude, angry, and condescending to everyone it seems. Their boot-fitter is great (Elvis) but the prices are much higher than what you'd pay elsewhere, even in a mountain town. He wanted $1,000 for pair of boots which is ridiculous. Same boots online are half that without any custom fitting albeit. Owner yelled at me for looking them up online. Good thing I did since he's charging double. Paid $600 for same service and boots in Colorado a week after visiting. Clothing selection is very poor also. Will not be returning. read more

I drove 30 min to OC Snowsports and when I arrived he was right of the bat extremely rude and arrogant! Nice looking shop, good looking gear. But had a frustrating experience during their pre-season sale - understanding full well that during a sale things are a little off. Walked in and was told ski boots, goggles, apparel 30-50% off. But nothing is marked. Cool. Hoping to get the wife boots, nothing in her size. I was fitted for some boots, wife got a bib, some socks and goggles. Go to pay. Turns out the boots don't qualify for the discount. OK, bummer, just a waste of time. Got rung up for the rest, felt pricey. Turned out the discount wasn't applied to the bib and 2 pairs of socks. OK, sigh. Refund then applied to the bib but oh wait, the socks don't quality for the discount either. Ok, wtf. Spent 90 minutes of my day, 20 minutes stood at a sales counter. The young folks helping me seemed nice and apologetic, owner didn't seem to give much of a damn. If you want to pay the rack rate and there's no one else in the store, could be a nice place to shop. read more

I haven't skied in a few years as I had a back fusion and was so excited to support a local business and also get back in the game. From the jump the owner was combative and rude, a true jerk. He told me that every ski on the wall was intermediate but then when I grabbed one for more info he would snap at me "what, do you think you are an expert or something???" He told me that boot heaters 100% fail, yet my old boots that are 10 years old still have working heaters and he sells Rossignol boots with heaters in them??? In trying to understand their 1 1/2 hr boot fitting process and the mandatory $200 extra foot molding, he said "if you don't buy them, you will never be allowed back in my store again". Well, that's just fine with me. I don't think I've ever had such a discouraging experience when I was so excited to spend at least $1000 on new equipment!!!! What the heck! I asked him what the price would be if I booked for five days straight and he said it's still $45 a day. I told him that Phil's was only charging $25 so why was he going to charge $45? Its nice to find a place with actually experienced workers that dont BS and dont try to just sell you on something you may not even need. I was in the market for some new ski boots and I am SO glad I found this place! The expert that helped me (Elvis) spent about 1.5hrs going through careful measurements, great recommendations, and was able to fit my foot into the best ski boots I've ever had! These guys dont mess around, they know what they are talking about! They may be particular but thats what makes them great since they know what they are talking about. My husband and I arrived to purchase brand new ski boots... Neither of us have owned boots for 10+ yrs but we will be skiing more now and wanted to invest in our feet and comfort! I will warn you all, the process takes a long time! We were in the shop for about 1 1/2 hours! But! The result is great! They really want to make sure you get the right boot for your foot! Length width, arch, any strange pressure points... It's all considered! My husband needed to have some heat molding done to make sure the fit was perfect. Don't go in with your heart set on a particular brand or color!! Let the experts do their work... I felt like I was in Harry Potter and the sorting hat was at work picking the right boot just for me! Make sure you have time to do this!! Feeling stressed and rushed will not help! But it's a great shop with great staff that really want you to have the right equipment for your best ski experience!! Ski boots are confusing and diverse. We all have different feet/calf shapes and sizes, so getting fit by a boot fitter is the most ideal option when buying new boots or insoles. Daniel helped find me the perfect boot and they choose for you, you do not choose because they are finding a boot that fits YOU! They were slightly uncomfortable the first time riding in them, so I went back to Elvis and he has many years of experience, so he heat molded them and made some adjustments to fit just right. I skied on them yesterday and MAN I was IMPRESSED. They barely hurt for being brand new boots. Take in mind you still have to break them in after heat molding them. I'm so happy and thankful I purchased these boots and my custom orthotics. I went in with an open mind because I bought boots "online" and they never fit perfectly. I always thought I had wide feet and purchasing boots online I thought my calves were wide because the boot was soooo tight on my calves. Boot fitting was the best decision I've made. I tried calling on a Friday afternoon and never got an answer, so I emailed the store asking if they do ski resale/accept donations and that I'm looking to buy two new sets of skis. I got a response Monday morning simply saying "no" and then a second email saying "thanks for wasting my time" from Daryl. That's definitely not the way I would communicate with someone who's trying to donate old gear and in the market to buy two brand new sets of skis.
