Delicious...authentic family run restaurant in Old Brooklyn. A staple for more than a few decades, Aldo's is a tradition of excellent service and amazing food and drink. We stopped in tonight for a small birthday dinner. The tables were full, thankfully we made a reservation in advance. The menu is vast, the specials were larger than the regular menu and it was amazing. We started with salads and fresh bread, and shrimp scampi. The salad dressing was full of garlicy goodness. The entrees, I do not think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. The linguini with seafood was so fresh and delicious. The scampi were huge, the pasta was fresh and light. Everything we ordered was delicious, even down to the house made desserts. Don't let the exterior shopping plaza fool you, the food was incredible and service was impeccable.

Calamari steak special. How about that presentation???

Food was good. Service was good. However, saw the MAGA hat and flag. Won't be back. I cannot support a business that supports a cult.

I'm not truffle connoisseur, but decided to try something new. Based on our conversation with the chef who approached our table after dinner, he was dreaming of hosting this dinner forever. There was always something that came in the way until this decadent evening. I'll share my experience from the special dinner. AMBIENCE: Palazzo is like a gallery meets fine Italian restaurant. There are plenty sculptures including Michelangelo's David replica. Paintings of ballerinas reminding me of Degas. Walls of wine bottles, predominance of stone accents, and a small vase fountain transport you to Italy. Touches like backlights and wine bottle walls make the atmosphere romantic. The restaurant has multiple dining room spaces. There is also a wooden bar. There is also a covered patio. During our visit the restaurant was extremely crammed. The dinner was sold out. Tables were so close together that it was challenging to navigate between them. Guests had to move their tables to let someone pass through - other patrons or staff. I did not feel comfortable with these seating arrangements. The restaurant was very extremely loud. I couldn't sit comfortably without bumping my chair into other guests. I'm not sure how the dining layout looks like during regular days. Hopefully there is more room at the restaurant. The bathroom is in the basement, so not ADA accessible. The ceiling in the bathroom was awkwardly low. FOOD: Our dinner was 6 course experience for $125 (no tax, no gratuity, and no drinks included). First course (Antipasto) was Pera Sacchetti - Pasta Pillows, Pear, Formaggio,Truffle Cream Sauce, Fig Balsamic. Second course (Insalata) was Arugula - Black Truffle Oil & Shaved Parmesan. Third course (La Pasta) was Cheese Tortelloni & Sea Scallops - Shaved Fresh Truffle, Butter, Garlic. Fourth course was (Pesce Pan Seared Halibut) Black Truffle Cream Sauce & Roasted Rainbow Carrots. Fifth course (Mare e Monti) was Grilled Filet Mignon Medallion & Petite Butter Poached Lobster Tail Truffle Butter & Cauliflower Purée. Sixth course (Dolce) was Truffle Cream Filled Cannoli. Every course featured generous amount truffles and was very well crafted. I loved Mare e Monti, filet mignon and lobster were well prepared. While the courses were pretty petite, the dinner was filling. Considering the dinner menu, it was good value. Beyond the dinner, my friends really enjoyed wines. I ordered Prickly Pear mocktail ($10). It was okay, but not really flavorful. It was too ginger beer forward. It was pleasant to seem multiple mocktail options. SERVICE: It was wonderful that the chef personally greeted every table. I enjoyed learning about his story. It was a nice touch for him to speak with the guests. The rest of the service was average. The hostess was not very pleasant which set a bad first impression. Our waiter was fantastic but awkward. He kept taking away wine glasses and bringing back the same glasses. There was a lot of confusion with drink orders, and the wrong bill included the wine. Perhaps this was due to handling a large crowd. EVENTS: The restaurant is planning other upcoming events. For instance, Lenten dinner ($55) on Wednesday and Friday (February 18-April 2). PARKING: The restaurant has a very small parking lot with an incline. Arrive very early if you want to secure a spot. There is really no street parking nearby. You can park at the RTA bus station across the street. Parking experience is inconvenient. I'm conflicted on how to rate this restaurant. I enjoyed dinner, presentation, mood, and personal chef approach. I didn't like the table arrangements, service, and parking. If the service was warmer and less rushed, I would be all about this restaurant.

The food I ordered the anchovy margherita pizza and it was a solid 9.5/10. Easily one of the closest pizzas I've had in the U.S. to the authentic Roman-style pizzas I remember. The only minor criticism -- and honestly not really their fault -- was that the anchovies tasted slightly canned, giving a bit more fishiness than the fresh anchovies commonly used in Italy. The service One of the owners, Annie, felt like the Italian nonna welcoming you into her home. Warm, thoughtful, conversational and constantly making sure everyone was taken care of. That hospitality elevated the entire experience. The atmosphere The restaurant is smaller and lively, so it can get pretty loud, especially on a Saturday night. The music was a tad louder than I personally prefer, but I also think it helps balance out the constant buzz of conversation happening at every table. The wait My friend and I arrived around 6:30 PM on a Saturday and the wait was about an hour and a half -- which is wild for a pizza place, but also says everything about how popular it is. Worth it? If you're craving authentic Italian pizza, absolutely. Overall The food alone makes the noise and wait worthwhile, and the hospitality makes you want to come back. I'd absolutely return the next time I'm in Cleveland.

Since they don't take reservations, mentally prepare yourself for the wait. I came here with three friends on a Friday around 6:00/6:30 and waited around 50 minutes. It was nice outside so we just hung around outside of the restaurant. When we were seated the service was fast. We opted for the arugula salad and rione salad for the table and the salads were honestly delicious. For pizza, we ordered the larger size sausage pie (red sauce, mozzarella, roasted peppers, sautéed onions, garlic and parmesan). Thin crust with a good bite that holds its integrity pretty decently. Overall, this os probably one of the better pizzas in Cleveland.

We also arrived, funny enough, on Pasta night, so most of their Pastas for the evening were discounted at $14 a plate. By the way, shouldn't every night be pasta night since this is an Italian restaurant? - LOL. Anyway, I didn't even know Pasta night was a feature at the restaurant so it came as a pleasant surprise. FOOD -- My friend and I shared two main pasta dishes, the Garganelli Diavolo with Shrimp AND the Short Rib Garganelli. Both cost $14 for Pasta night but they are normally $21 each. -- Short Rib Garganelli (special price of $14 for Pasta night but normally $21) - braised short rib, sautéed mushrooms, and scallion butter): hearty meal but dry. It needed salt as well. I still liked it after added salt and crushed pepper. The addition of the mushrooms allowed for an even more meaty texture. -- Garganelli Diavolo with Shrimp (special price of $14 on Pasta night): tasty and my favourite of the night. Dry with dried sauce. Addition of salt and crushed pepper made it taste better. Well cooked shrimp. Overall, the 2 Pasta dishes that my friend and I ordered were good and it came with complimentary bread (it came on the side along with the pasta dishes). I asked for olive oil to dip the bread in and a waiter brought it up right away. Both pasta dishes had dried up sauce so the meal wasn't saucy and it also needed some salt. I actually don't like my pasta dishes with too much sauce at all but a little sauce would have gone a long way. My friend and I added salt and crushed pepper to both pasta dishes which made them taste better. They were delicious already but they definitely needed salt. SERVICE -- Excellent (100%). Friendly and attentive service. I entered for a 5:30pm reservation, arrived around 5:36pm, and was sorted right away. My friend arrived about 3 mins after me. We were checked in about twice during the night and brought waters when we arrived. I'm glad that I finally tried Bar Italia and I'll certainly be back.
