I visited ALDI because I've always heard amazing things about this chain and know a ton of people who shop at ALDI locations back in CT. This was my first time going to one and I wasn't impressed at all. I liked that the produce was super cheap compared to other grocery stores but some of the fruit had gone bad (melon, blueberries, and some bananas). The avocados were still unripe and less than $1/each so I bought a bag of those. However, the rest of the shopping trip was weird. I was looking at the juice and one of the bottles expired in May (it is now July). We walked up and down all of the aisles and couldn't find the rice...what kind of grocery store doesn't have rice? It's also lacking in name brand items (and if you like certain brands, that's what you go with...I don't stick my nose up to store-brands by any means). Then there's the employees. A guy dropped a glass jar of jelly on the floor and customers were trying to tell the cashier that there was a spill. She took forever to call someone to clean it up and was nasty to the other employee. It was our turn to pay and the cashier wasn't friendly. I took the two baskets (again, not knowing how ALDI works) and one of the employees snapped at me saying they need my cart. I'd give this grocery store 1 star if it weren't for the cheap produce. However, with the rude staff, unorganized aisles and shelves, lack of certain food items, and rotting/expired food...I can't see myself coming back. read more

It is true Aldi's is inexpensive. Some of their good are quality goods, others, like their fresh produce, doesn't last very long when I get it home. I've learned to stop buying produce here unless I plan to use it that day - otherwise it goes bad (rotten) too quickly. Onions and potatoes especially. I still buy their meats, dairy, eggs and canned goods - all at very good prices. read more

Place and order online, it took me (40 minutes to get there )they message me stating order was ready to pick up, when I got there, they told me that they did not have what I order, but they can replace it with something else that cost over $10 dollars more, very disappointed , gas is too expensive to be just driving around read more

Long-time Aldi customer, where else can I get four full bags of groceries for $40? I love the layout of Aldi, I know my way around, I can get in and out quickly. If you are looking for fancy items, Aldi isn't for you. But, if you are looking to stock up on basics and fill your fridge and not spend a lot, Aldi is perfect! Bring a quarter for your cart, bring your own bags, or buy there's - they're cheap. Only docked my five star rating to four since last few times I've shopped at Aldi, store has been dirty and out of tons of produce. Bummer. Besides Lidl's superior produce, quality meats and dairy products, with the best prices in town, the people who bring it all together can never be lauded enough! There is a young man working there. He is very friendly, professional, and helpful. His name is Big John. He is a tall man with a look from Scandinavian. Asking him a question or seeking assistance is like a throwback into yesteryear when the supermarkets were smaller and a significant part of the neighborhood. Yay Big John. Yay everyone at Aldi's! If I may suggest...... How about offering rain checks for sale prices? I live near Zebulon outside of the city. Me and a lot of other shoppers pass several food stores to shop at Lidl's. Several times, I came here to buy something that was advertised to be on sale, and there weren't any items left. I cannot believe that I listened to what others were saying about Aldi and let is discourage me from trying it out myself. Especially when there were no Yelp reviews for the WF location. I had been told, mostly by people who had not ever been to Aldi, that it was "weird" and only sold off brand food items. NOT TRUE!!! Hubs and I went to Aldi this weekend to pick up a few things since we were in the area and decided to give the place a shot. We brought in our own bags, which we normally do anyway but noticed that folks were coming out to the car with non-bagged items. As we walked in, a couple who had just finished shopping offered us their cart and told us to "keep the quarter". Huh? We soon found out that when you put your cart back in the cart corral at the front, a quarter spits out at you, usually the one you put in to use the cart in the first place- a way to save on having to have staff go out to corral the carts. I guess a quarter is worth it for most people to take their lazy butts with their carts to actually put them where they belong. I've never understood people who will walk their butts all around a grocery store loading their carts but won't walk a few yards to put their cart back where it belongs but I digress. We walked in and immediately saw BRAND NAMED ITEMS! I was shocked! We went up and down every aisle finding so many deals. Sure, there were a lot of Aldi brand items, more than name brand but they were all SO CHEAP! We decided to try a few items that were Aldi brand, like peanut butter, crackers, granola bars, some lunch staple items. The items we chose were literally $2-$3 less expensive than our regular grocery store. I did not try items like produce and milk as there were no organic choices. Oh, and for those who are asking, every item was fresh, no expired dates at Aldi. That was another fib I was told. We tasted some of the items this weekend and we really could not tell that they were not named brand items and the items we got that were name brand, they tasted the same too, just better because we got such a great deal! They sold some wine but I did not see beer. The place was clean, organized, and easy to maneuver. Staff were minimal, only a couple of staff members but that is apparently how they keep the costs down. When we checked out, the clerk scanned our items while sitting in a chair and put all the items right back in the cart. After we paid, we took our cart to a bar area where you can either bag your items using your own bags or they do have some paper bags that you can grab and bag your stuff. Don't forget to take that cart back and get your quarter for doing so. Due to having met the nice couple in the parking lot before going in, we earned a quarter for putting ours back. We will definitely be doing some of our shopping here at Aldi more regularly now. It is worth separating the groceries to save some money! No shame in my game! read more

This Aldi in Wake Forest always has a great selection and I think it is a tad nicer than the Cary store. I found great cheeses from France, really great prices on wine and beer and I love when Aldi offers the German food from Deutsche Kueche. As with all Aldis, bring our own quarter for your cart and cash or debit card. The produce is fresh and I love finding the gourmet olive oils and select high-end products at really affordable prices. read more

I drive out of my way specifically to go to this Aldi. It's clean, bright, and well-organized. I've been going here for over a year and I've only had one or two incidences where it wasn't well stocked, which is a pretty awesome track record! I like going here because of its convenience of parking and getting in and out and I really appreciate how friendly the workers are. Of course, like any Aldi, be sure to bring your own shopping bags and a quarter to get a shopping cart. It makes it possible for Aldi to provide quality food at such amazingly low prices! read more

The prices are definitely worth coming in, but I was surprised to have to pay .25c for a cart. The place is definitely not big and doesn't have everything you need, but can be a good source for cheap meals if you're on a budget and even have good prices for name brand items too. I would come back here, but next time I'll have a better idea of what to look for and what I can't get there and will have to buy at a different store. read more

If you love Trader Joe's, you will likely love this place as well. While not as decorative, it has very good produce, meats, cheeses, milk and eggs. The prices are significantly lower than the "regular" stores, not like a little, very much lower. The "store" brands are very good overall, the staff is friendly, and the checkout is almost always fast. Except for very specific things like a particular type of specialty item, I almost always go here. Their organic selection is consistently growing. The prices are about the same as the non-organic stuff elsewhere. I see some people take issue with the .25 for the cart. If you haven't been there, you get it back; it's motivation to return the cart, and less labor cost for the store so you can save more. (Fun fact--Aldi is actually two different companies- Aldi North and Aldi South. This is Aldi South. Aldi North in the US is known as Trader Joe's. ) read more

Simple concept: Use quality regional brand foods that are just as good quality as the over-advertised (& more expensive) national brands. My wife and I gave Aldi a try. Bought some favorite types of products to see if they were inferior, the same or better than other stores - bread, butter, canned goods, milk, H&H, etc.. All were absolutely fine; as good or better than 'national' brands. The H&H is actually cheaper than Sam's club, which had always been the lowest price we could find. Not a fancy store, everything is simplified to reduce costs. Great low prices for quality products. We go there weekly now. read more

The BEST grocery store for quality food at low prices! Through some crafty cost-cutting measures, ALDI is able to price their quality food at reasonable prices. A lot of the foods they sell are their own brand - another great way to lower costs but you have to keep an open mind, especially if you are a brand-name shopper. I find I usually save about 40% when I shop at ALDI (who doesn't love that). They don't always have everything I need (dill spice, for example), but they always have the essentials. I come here for the bulk of my grocery list then stop by Walmart for the remainder. I highly recommend checking out this store if you're looking to save money on quality foods. read more

So it's funny how this is a grocery store, but I really love this place. It's cheap but good quality. You may not have heard of the brands before but if it means the total price at check out is $100 dollars less than any other store. I had four bags full and only spent $60. Can't beat that! Went here the other day with the impending weather to stock up. They were open and there was hardly anyone in the store. Got everything I needed and was in and out. If you're not shopping here first, you may have money to burn. I don't. Keep a quarter in your car and bring your own bags (if you don't want to have to buy bags or find empty boxes around the store). Also, they don't take credit cards or checks. Cash, debit, or EBT only. Carts only cost you if you don't return them so you can get your quarter back. The store is able to provide very low costs because they don't do for you what you can do for yourself. It is owned by a German parent company and run just like a European grocery store. The main difference I've noticed is the employees are nicer here in America. :) We always go to Aldi first. If we can't find what we need there, only then will we go to a more expensive place. We get all our staples there, as well as dairy, meat, canned goods, and produce. They even have Babybel cheese for cheap! I went without that for years because I refuse to fork over the ridiculous price at "regular" stores. Don't be afraid to try anything because they have a very generous return policy. Just remember, if you want everything done for you, you're going to have to pay for it -- elsewhere. read more

I love Aldi's. It is quick- only takes me maybe 30-45 min to get in and get out with a cartload of groceries. It's cheap- the cartload of groceries that would've cost me over $250 at any other store is usually in the $150 range at Aldi. I can't get over how cheap everything is. There's not any wasted time on coupons which is kind of a relief. The checkout lines go super quick. The only bummer is when I don't have a quarter for the cart! :) read more

Aldi now takes Credit Cards! You still need to deposit a quarter to get the cart and when you return the cart you get the quarter back. It is a smaller store, which makes it easier to shop. Prices are great! We really like their produce prices - and it is decent produce. read more

We found Aldi in Indiana 25 years ago when finishing my MBA. It was a surprise to see the prices and quality. After moving to California we missed Aldi, but when we moved to Raleigh it was great to find it again. Now open in Wake Forest it's even closer! THANKS! Yes, they ask customers to bring a quarter to deposit for the carts and either purchase bags/bring your own bags/boxes, but seems several others grocers are doing similar now. With being gluten-free it's great to see Aldi and WalMart keeping the costs down compared to when we began this lifestyle eight years ago. read more

It is hard to give three stars (A-OK) because there is no customer service. Their prices are really close to walmart on many items. The fact is that some debit cards DO NOT work and you won't know this til you try it. I did a bit of shopping without hitting the ATM after reading on their website that they accept debits. My card simply was not accepted. Had to leave all my groceries and drive to my ATM to get cash. I don't get how they advertise debits are acceptable payments but then the machine just won't work. The cashier did not try to get a manager to see if she was running the card wrong somehow. I don't know what happened. There is no way to call the store and try to get an explanation. If you want to use your ATM card try it before you shop on one item to make sure before you waste a lot of time and have to drive to get money or leave your groceries there. read more

Why is the Aldi's on Peters Creek hwy in Winston Salem, nc out of stock on a lot of items for the past 2 weeks? Are you going out of business or not paying your bills, what's going on. Last week one of the busiest shopping day before Thanksgiving your out of stock because no truck came in. Most all of their private labels brands are national brand items labeled for Aldi's. Millville cereals are General Mills. Berman's mayonnaise is Hellman's. The chicken is Perdue. And so forth. You just have to try the different stuff, as most of the foods are the same national brands but without the associated advertising costs added on. Shop there for basics and then go the the big box grocery stores for special items that Aldi's doesn't carry. So glad there is one close. read more

i love this aldi store in wake forest! it's clean, well stocked, and the folks who work there are friendly and helpful. are there all the different varieties of foods found in big box stores? no. are the brands you'll fnd there the same as in big box stores? no will you be overrun with plastic bags that someone else has bagged your groceries in for you? no will you be able to run in and get prepared foods from a deli? no do they always have everything you came for? no what you will find is mostly european brands of foods that are as good as, if not better than, many of the ones you're used to....you do have to be willing to try brands that are unfamiliar, but might just find you like them better.. yes, you have to bring your own shopping bags{unless you want to use cardboard boxes they have there, or you can buy their shopping bags } and you will have to bag/box the groceries yourself... the quarter deposit for a shopping cart is genius! keeps shopping carts from being left all over the parking lot, and having to pay someone to keep them rounded up...equals lower costs for the consumer.....and you do get your quarter back when the cart is returned, so there's no loss there.. if you get something there that isn't satisfactory {rare, but it happens...} their policy is to give you a replacement for the item PLUS your money back,too...where else does that happen???? you WILL save a considerable amount of money shopping there, and for me, that's what counts. read more
