Cute cereal names in fun boxes!
Chris K.

I was so excited about this store opening, but it was so crowded on opening day I couldn't get into the parking lot, let alone the store. I returned recently and was happy to see it was easy to get in and out now. I'm used to shopping at Aldi's, which I really like, so was curious how Lidl would compare. First off the aisles are very wide so it's much easier to maneuver through than Aldi's. There's no quarter deposit on the shopping carts, but you still have to bag your own groceries. The cashiers are more laid back and take their time chatting with customers, unlike Aldi which keeps things moving at a brisk pace. They have an actual bakery onsite and an extensive fresh meat and seafood/fish department. Also a wide selection in the diary, cold food and frozen food areas. In the canned and dry goods aisle there's a good variety too, as well as household necessities like cleaning and paper products. There's also home and personal needs like tools, dishes, clothes, etc. Their weekly special items are much less of a variety than Aldi's it seems, but I could be wrong from just one visit. Like Aldi, the pricing is very good on everything and they seem to have more name brands, which doesn't sway me one way or the other. All that said, to my surprise I still like Aldi better. If a Lidl location comes to the south Durham area I'd have a better chance of visiting more often to see if they could win me over, but for now Wake Forest is much too far a trek for me to make just for one store so I'm happy with the nearby Aldi.

This could be the future of grocery shopping Selection and pricing of wine and beer like Trader Joe's Spacious and airy aisles No frills items and pricing like Aldi Conservationists with bagging like Whole Foods and Trader Joe's - You need to snag a box when they do unpacking in the aisles if you don't bring your own bags. Outstanding bakery section. Just outstanding. Croissants, flatbread, donuts, breads and so much more. Great meat and seafood selection as well. A bit limited on brand selection. That is key here. Don't expect 15 brands of toothpaste here. This is a good business model for quick, no hassle grocery shopping.

Lidl takes me back to my Heimat. This store recently opened in Wake Forest on S Main Street. The bakery goods are on the left as you enter the store. There are pretzels, donuts, muffins and German breads. My favorite part is the bread slicer and you easily follow the 4 steps to slice your fresh bread. Lidl has the finest meats, cheeses, oils, and international treasures from all over. I love the Italian week called Italiamo and found pesto, noodles and even pizza plates. Lidl offers an app to clip coupons yet o have found that most items are already on sale and marked down. The fruits and vegetables are fresh and very economical. The chocolate and coffee assortment is also fantastic. I am so glad Lidl I now in the NC. Danke!!

If you like Aldi you'll love Lidl. It's newer, clean and has the bonus of a fresh bakery, wine selection and flowers. Now, if you think it will compare to TJs or Whole Foods, HT or the like you would be incorrect. This is a discount grocer. I'm not a huge fan of this type of shop. I went to see what they offered in organic products based on location and convenience. Out of everything I saw the only discount for me is the organic almond milk. Their price is better than any store yet. Other than that all other organic products I saw are the same price as name brands I already love. I would pop in for a German pretzel from the bakery (I've only seen them on a Sunday so far) or for almond milk but this would not be a major player in my grocery game. You should stop in to see if it fits for you. It's really a lovely store and the staff are incredibly nice. Helpful tips: Just past the bakery there is a little window where they have a daily food sample. They have mini carts for your little shoppers in training. In the foyer there seem to be a couple of wheel chairs for those who need assistance Bring your own bags! Or you'll need to buy them. There is no quarter charge for a cart.

Stroller cheese selection!

Cool little store, I kept passing by & decided to stop & Check it out, and so glad I did!!! Do you walk into a bakery & lots of fresh produce. Saw everything one would need. Then I headed down the cheese isle, they have everything from string cheese to 5 different kinds of goat cheese & everything in between! I wandered all the isles, they have a little of his & that plus all the essentials. They have wine to diapers & mix in some necessary kitchen items like rolling pins filled with cookie cutters! There are checkers to check you out but you bag yourself & try to bring your own bag or you get a paper one!

Lidl is a very unique store, when I first heard the name I thought that a place like this wouldn't exist. However upon entering the door I was shown a fateful of really cheap goods. The cost for a large sugar cookie was 44 cents and I got like 5 of them. Lidl is basically like a really cheap harris teeter. And if you looking to save a ton of money I suggest coming here to get food.

Nice motto

I don't know why, though, since that seems to be the perfect spot for a convenience store. And what a convenience store it is. First of all, Heritage Market is a classic convenience store with an old-time feel but carrying the usual drinks and chips and good humor ice cream. Nevertheless, if you want to escape the traffic or break up a road trip, this is a good place for a mini-stop. Whether it's a breakfast on the go, or a few minutes extra for lunch, they're set up so you can grab a sandwich, a cup of Larry's beans coffee, and sit at a small table in the corner to watch the traffic outside or the news on the overhead TVs. This store was super busy. I was inside for only a few minutes, but nearly everyone who stopped in was greeted by name by the employee. It's obviously a popular stop with the locals. As I reached into one cooler to grab some water, the cooler next to me had some large blocks of various cheeses from Ashe County Dairy, and, the cheese was conveniently located right next to some six packs of beer. Party fixings all in one convenient place - who knew? I guess there's more than one reason why these are called convenience stores. I like Heritage. It's an old-time store but with all the modern things that make a convenience store convenient.

Hi, just wanted to share with you the excellence of Food Lion Service at Crenshaw Corners -…read morerecently broke my ankle, and am ambulating with crutches after two months of surgery and basically staying home, very thankful I can drive now and get around the grocery :) Two of your employees really stood out on 5/09/2025, as I was heading through the checkout with a small cart and my crutches, the Clerk was so helpful with my purchases and even ran my card for me (as I had a hand on each crutch), her name is Rosa-lie (or maybe Raza-lie?) and she was patient and personable. Also, the baggage person, Dillon, offered to push the groceries to my car, which really goes above and beyond...I thanked him but also wanted you to know. Such Great Service!

Food Lion is obviously stepping in their game to compete with other large grocery chains - I noticed this store had a much more modern feel and more upscale look. When you walk in, they have a really nice separate area for all of the fresh produce. The veggies were very good quality, prices very reasonable. Grabbed some fresh kale and a few other items. I was really surprised to see that not only did this store have low carb brown sugar (similar to Sukrin Gold) but they also had Hershey's sugar free chocolate chips! And, they were only $3.99 - much cheaper than Lily's chocolate chips that run around $7.99 per bag plus a trip all the way down to Whole Foods... Really glad that I stopped in - prices were good, selection even better! I'll definitely be back.
