My fav grocery store! Why? Not only are the prices the best in town, but I can typically go in and do all my weekly shopping in about 15 or 20 minutes! The store is designed well, the refrigerated and frozen foods at the end of the store so your cold items are in your cart last. Their brands are as good or better than "National" brands, however, they do carry some name brand items. The produce is fresh and well priced. They offer many organic items, milk, eggs, meats etc. I'm able to fill my cart with all of our household staples and save a ton of money! I especially like the seasonal and miscellaneous aisle where the shelves are stocked with a variety of products from clothing to toys to appliances to kitchen gadgets to office supplies and more! The check out is flash fast. The cashiers are trained to put the eggs, fruit and bread on the top level of the cart to protect your delicate goods! I love their store model, stock items in boxes, bring your own bags, pack your own groceries, quarter for your cart and getting it back when you take it back to the corral... all of these strategies equal savings in your pocket! And I love packing my own groceries, no more squished bread!! Lol!! read more

I have been doing the Aldi tour for a while. We were out of town for the weekend and decided to get a few snacks for the room. So I bought a pool raft. Because, when you are staying in a hotel, the first thing you think about is bringing a raft with you. It was on clearance for $9.80. My family lives on a lake and now I have a giant flamingo to float on. I love the row of non food items. There was the normal inventory (bread, produce, cereal, snacks, floatation devices) and beverages. The first box of blueberries I saw had mold. I checked several other containers and they were fine. I like the Aldi in Hyattsville better since I know the layout, but this store was fine. read more

The clerk at check out was pretty rude. I walked over to the bench with my bag and then returned to the checkout line. He said "you can just leave that in the cart..." and I said "no, I'll bag them myself." Apparently he took this as a personal attack at his competence because he made a snarky remark to the fellow behind me by saying "look it's not rocket science." I know you were probably tired, but there's no need to mock customers or be disrespectful to anybody. read more

Having lived in Europe and been a frequent Aldi shopper, stepping this Aldi felt like a little slice of home. Aldi focuses the basics: produce, bread, meat, dairy, and store brand packaged products at very reasonable prices. From beer and wine, frozen meals, and pizza to paper towels and aluminum foil, you can likely find what you're looking for much faster and at a lower price than a traditional super sized grocery store. It's well organized and clean. The only slight draw back is that because it is small there are usually only one or two employees working at a time. If they have to leave the register to help someone you may have to wait to purchase your items. read more

I love all the locations in Henrico Virginia. I'm able to run in and pick up what I need the staff all friendly and helpful. Even when it is five minutes to close they understand and let me run any quickly pick up what I need. The person at the check out is always professional. read more

Aldi-please come to my neighborhood! Aldi is clean, and neatly stocked. The prices are so reasonable! I like the setup of Aldi much better than Trader Joe's as it's more organized and easier to find things. My favorite purchase was a 2.99 box of mussels! They have a good variety of cheeses, snacks and other goodies! If I lived in Richmond, I would shop here regularly! read more

This location has a bigger selection than the other two stores in the west end: Parham and Staples Mill. With that said, this location seemed to be very very very busy. Don't expect to complete your entire grocery checklist here, you'll end up disappointed. read more

Went in today for lunch and a friend of mine wanted a deli sandwich and we got back to work and she opened it only to find this. (In picture) roast beef isn't supposed to look like this...other than this the people were friendly however the manager reprimanded an employee right in front of us and told her to loose an attitude in front of us when she never even had one. I was not greated at all and did not see a single employee until I got to the register... Ever spent time in Europe, especially Germany? Well, if you have then you know that the Aldi store format is just like many markets across the Atlantic. Shopping in Aldi I feel like I'm back in Germany going to the market. We buy our canned food, boxed/dry goods, cheese and some produce and meats at Aldi. It has all been great quality at a great price. They also have items that you don't find at Wegman's, or Kroger. Love the brats! Sure, you don't have 10 kinds of tomato sauce to choose from, but who really needs that many? Having a couple of good quality options is all you need, especially when at a good price like Aldi has. Did you know that Aldi and Trader Joe's are run by two brothers from the same family? Maybe that's why Aldi also has a good selection of organic items. In short, worth your time and worth shopping there. Just don't forget to bring your own bags and have a quarter coin handy for the cart! Ok, don't complain about having to use a quarter to unlock a cart...you get it back at the end and it helps ensure you return to cart to the corral. Think about it, most people return carts to corrals in the parking lot and it is not much farther to walk a cart back to the front of Aldi in exchange for continued low prices. I work for a grocery service, which means I spend the vast majority of my time inside supermarkets shopping. They recently added Aldi to our list of stores, and quite frankly this place is a nightmare. The layout is counter-intuitive, the signage is hard to see, items were randomly interspersed and out of place. And then, the bag situation... Now, I don't really care that they charge for bags, I'm not the one paying for them. What I do care about, is that I'm expected to bag my own items. Having someone else do the bagging, is literally the *only* reason I have to not use a self checkout, which of course isn't available to begin with. And then, with a line, the *only* cashier just gets up and walks away for like 5 minutes. Now, unfortunately I can't really control where I get sent by customers. But I can assure you of one thing, I will *never* deal with this company for any of my own needs. Give your money to one of the chains worth shopping at. Literally any of them are a better choice. read more

Adjacent to the Village and Estates at Horsepen and very affordable. This location is rarely crowded and thus allows for more browsing time and ability to snag great deals. I find that I can buy more than the basics here and love their deals. Keep in mind that you have to pay for bags and you'll pay a quarter to use cart but you get it back at the end of your trip. I love that I can find healthy options at more than reasonable prices. read more

I understand this is supposed to be a store with deep discounts and basically carrying only off brands of stuff. That's ok; I went in for a few simple things, like gravy, and relish. Couldn't find them anywhere. Don't see any particular organization, so you're basically required to go up and down the aisles to see if you can find what you want. I believe you can get bargains just as good at the Kroger up in Willow Lawn. I can at least say I tried out this store; not going back again. read more

Very rude staff. I went in last night for the Advent Box (which is a hoax). On the first day they were available. I was rudely told "We don't have any left, we sold out this morning." I shopped at this location yesterday. I am irritated that I have to return today to bring the milk back, it has today's expiration date on it! I seem to have to return items on a regular basis. Beware of bad milk. Seeing that the use by date on all the milk is usually within a week, I bought a gallon of 2% and 1% a month apart. Each time the milk tasted funny the day of purchase, and each time my stomach was upset for a week and resulting in two online complaints to Aldi. After the 2nd time, I contacted the local FDA, and they said the refridgerators might not be cold enough and sent an inspector out to check. I do not trust their cold products and would rather buy milk with a use by date several weeks or more out. So I'm back at Food Lion and Kroger. read more
