I like Aldi stores in general, this one, not so much. The employees are really nice and keep the lines moving, so they are not the issue. This location is not very clean and the open vegetable sections are typically a mess. This store is very busy so I avoid it. I go to the one in Bohemia which is much better and the employees are just as nice. read more

The white lady which is the manager. She wanted to take my cart but I paid 25 cents to get the cart from outside. And she tried to take it from me. I had a lot of food. So then she got mad for no reason. This is unacceptable because I had already paid 25 cents for the cart. Why won't she just go outside and get a cart herself she is just lazy and wanted to take peoples carts (I am Hispanic and she thought I couldn't speak English but when i spoke English she was in shock and didn't say nothing not even a sorry for the inconvenience) she gave me a bad face looked like she wanted to hit me. Also the manger and her friend which is the cashier was talking and slowing up the line, she didn't even scan the items while talking, they were only talking!! The customer next to us asked the cashier to move it along because this work is unacceptable. The cashier and the manager should be fired!! I mean the line was very long and she chose to work slow and sloppy. ALDIs I don't think it was the cashiers fault but it was the managers fault because she should know better. I loooove Aldi! I hear people complain but the thing is you have to know HOW to shop this store. It isn't a place where you buy everything you need for your grocery list, they're good for select items like fine moser roth chocolate, their pizzas, snacks, frozen chicken, brown rice, some produce, and breads. Aldi's is super affordable. There are many items that are organic and have good ingredients. Some others are crappy and unhealthy. Certain items I just dont buy here like their red meats ( they look purple to me and not clean), eggs (tried once they were gross), milk, frozen products (cheap quality) and their canned goods (again cheap quality). Much of the produce is good but be careful because once I picked up a thing of blueberries and it had mold. Overall I go here to buy snacks and a couple of food items. The store is always well stocked and it's not a mad house like trader joes. read more

This is one of those places where you can get good deals but you need to go often since stock changes. I find it frustrating if I need a particular item because I don't always find what I want. I also find this store's layout not conducive to browsing. It's messy and noisy and items are not displayed well. Maybe a lack of attention to detail is what helps keep the prices low. But I am not drawn to the store or find it enjoyable when I do go. I do seem to be in the minority though since most reviewers seem to like the place. Market Aldi is the low cost chain that owns Trader Joe's and sells just about everything under their private label brands - and at costs that will make you smile! Aldi is a bit unlike your traditional American grocery store in that they only have their brands (there are some exceptions, such as soda), their costs are ridiculously low, you have to bag your own stuff (and bring your own bags) and they only accept cash or debit cards. All of this helps them keep the costs down dramatically. They carry most of your basic items as well as meat and veggies. There are meat specials every wednesday. I recently scored a pork slow roast "kit" with a roughly 2-lb pork butt, red potatoes, carrots and onions, and a spice pack all ready for the slow cooker, for $7.99 - complete. Nice. The quality is equal to, or better than what you buy now under brand names. There are plenty of frozen choices, and the choices always seem to be growing. There is a very large amount of gluten free and organic items at stupid low prices - you simply have to go there to check it out. You pay a quarter for a shopping cart - this helps them get them back in front of the store and not scattered all over the parking lot, and you can purchase paper bags if you forgot to bring your own. You can usually score an empty box to put the groceries in. All in all a great place to save money for your grocery needs. They do have a section of items that sort of do not belong, and change on a weekly basis such as kitchen mats, or sunglasses - I think they should toss those and focus more on the groceries, but that is what it is at the moment. I am in awe of how inexpensive the prices are! I only wish they had more produce, but beggars can't be choosers. When the gentleman rang me up, I felt like I had stepped back into 1983 with the prices! Even my 16 year old kept saying "holy cow" when he was grabbing cookies and bagel pizza bites. This place is a hidden gem. I'm afraid that if I get the word out, prices will go up and the lines would extend out the door. I had purchased $51 in groceries. A normal bill for me would be $140 at a different supermarket. For those who have never gone, two words of advice. Bring a quarter for the shopping cart (you get it back when you put your cart back). And bring reusable shopping bags so that you don't have to buy any. I can't imagine going anywhere else after this experience! read more

I was recently at the Patchogue Aldi store. My shopping experience was fine. It was a very rude and loud a check out associate that had to embarrass me not only in front of other shoppers but he made me feel like two cents. I attempted to call the store to speak with the manager at 844-473-1003 and the call would not go through. when he was done ringing up my groceries, he very quickly grabbed another cart to swing it around to replace my cart in such a manner that startled me, whereas I said woah! To which he barked. "I'm not going to hit you". The look on his face, and the tone of his voice was not only disrespectful, he obviously did not want to be there and was only there until he finds another position elsewhere. He definitely had a problem dealing in customer service. One of the worst Aldi markets as far as staff goes. The cashiers are inexperienced and rude to their shoppers. I shop for a living and have never been spoken to like I was today by one of the rudest employees. She is lazy probably gets paid Fork sitting at the register not standing but sitting and dictates what can go on the belt and how. She refused to listen to the customers. I love aldi. Great prices and some pretty delish stuff. I'll tell you a few of my knock off favs from here: -Shells with cheese- I like it better than Velveeta -clancy potato chips - choceur chocolate -all the cereals - fit and active cold cuts - fit and active sandwich wraps - goat cheese w honey or the herb one -raw chicken breasts! Cooked very tender and even- - paper towels -almond milk!!!!! It's a steal here!!!! -barissimo k-cups - great prices on produce!!! One thing I did not like from here was their green olives stuffed w cheese. Just tasted kinda bland and lower quality. read more

They are not very big on customer service at store level, they cannot solve problems the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, even if someone did return the item I left in the cart no one would know because there is not a designated place for customer service! And they don't bend over backwards like other supermarket chains, it's just tuff luck too bad! Oh well you get what you pay for! read more

Protip since people reviewing this place don't seem to understand the concept of Aldi. Aldi is a supermarket that cuts out unnecessary facets of the business, in order to offer the cheapest possible prices on groceries. So in other words, you don't use shopping carts so they don't have to pay a cart-retriever, you're supposed to bring your own bags so they don't have to waste money on stupid plastic bags, and they only allow cash/debit in order to avoid credit company fees. They stock their own store brands which are manufactured by NAME brands. So in other words, their 'Millville Crispy Oat Os' are literally the same thing as 'General Mills Cheerios.' I'm not exaggerating here. They are the same exact food, the same formula, the same everything, just in a different box without the expensive Cheerios brand name. Reason being, General Mills owns the brand and makes it exclusively for Aldi. But they charge less for it, so that Aldi can sell this box of Cheerios to you for $2 instead of $4.50. So people whining about generic brands, are you that insipid that you're willing to pay several dollars extra for just words? Let's put it this way. Months ago, we used to shop at Stop & Shop. Groceries for a few days cost like $30, give or take. At Aldi, the same amount of groceries costs us about $8 bucks. Make of that what you will. read more

Ah some of these reviews are not a good representation of how the store is now. Many reasonably priced items are organically grown. On this trip I got 2# organic Chiquita bananas, a half gallon of organic milk, a loaf of light an a loaf of rye bread, goat cheese and a few other things for under $15. There are some name brand items to be found, but on most things I've purchased the "store brand" is fine. But hey if money is no object to you you can pay more somewhere else. Someone cautioned to read the labels and beware of those cheap ingredients, well that is good advice even when you shop at Whole Foods! Some of the meats are brined here at Aldi so I check the amount of sodium and steer clear if it is high. It's not fancy and they don't have everything you may want, but it will help your budget to go a little farther. read more

Went to the Patchogue Aldi for a ham advertised in their circular. There was a $3 coupon. This store is just plain weird. There are no name brands. I never heard of the brand they are selling. Stock is very limited. They only had 5 of the hams I was looking for. When I got up to the register, I was told they were no longer accepting the coupon which was still good. No explanation. Trader Joes owns Aldi. Just as when you go into Trader Joes you find their brands. This is the same in Aldi. It is as some people may say "generic" but it doesn't mean it's any less quality than regular brands. The difference is that millions are not pumped into advertising and packaging the way more expensive brands are. The food quality is top notch. I can't speak for the produce at this location but I can say that their chips are better than Lays. Their cookies are just as good if not better than name brand. Yes, it is a little different in that you need to bring your own bags, pay with cash, and put a quarter in for the shopping cart but this supermarket is modeled from the original store which is located in Germany. These little things keep costs down. Another huge plus for me is the lack of artificial dyes in the majority of their products. I mostly find the dyes in random brand name items that they carry but it's such a relief to know that my allergy sensitive son can enjoy items like ice pops and fruit snacks without chemical dyes. They also offer a decent GF selection and organic items. I suggest that you give it a try and look up the countless websites devoted to this chain. There are some hardcore followers and tons of recipes. If you are someone looking to cut down on costs, here is a great place to start. Last week I purchased zucchini, cereal, cookies, trash bags, pasta, sauce, and a spice. It cost me $18. Seriously. read more

Its difficult for me to rate this market with stars but I did enjoy shopping here. Aldis is not going to replace the supermarket chains we are used to with their massive amounts of mega conglomerate food selections. There are alot of interesting choices, food brands and many are imported from Germany. I really just appreciate the option to go somewhere for something new or different. Its a bit of an adventure cuz im not sure what Im going to find. Big store, super clean with really nice, friendly staff was refreshing. BTW one reason for their cheaper prices is that they do NOT accept credit cards. Debit and cash which is great because it does reflect in the prices. Another is the shopping carts, quarter deposit to keep costs down on cart people. Mixed feelings about that one cuz thats less jobs for some that may be in need. I stopped in here after visiting a pet store next door. I have heard about this place before, but we have never had one in this area until now. I was not impressed. All generics, the entire store. I was hoping to pick up some bottles of diet soda, they had NOTHING. Generic chips, sweets, cereals, etc. and the store was large enough, but certainly not stocked at all . We did pick up a case of water, as I don't mind drinking the generic water, but the other stuff is definitely not worth it. I also find it amusing that you have to pay for your bags and .25 to use a shopping cart. LOL You get the quarter back if you return it. No thanks. read more

Love this place! The location is super convenient for me, right off of Sunrise Highway. To start, the Aldi model is a little different than the typical supermarket. First of all, you have to use a quarter to get a cart, but you are refunded once you return the cart. It is smaller than the typical supermarket with some organic offerings that are reasonably priced. It's owned by Trader Joe's so it does have lots of its own brand but is more mainstream as it does not have all of TJ's quirky food offerings. Similar to TJ's, you aren't going to see a million types of the same food, one to two varieties is typical. By that I mean, in a typical grocery store, you'll have at least 5 different brands of plain potato chips, while you'll only have 1-2 brands generally at Aldi's. But, depending on the type of food (chip), there are often several flavors (plain, BBQ, sour cream, etc) Food quality is good. I drop in here several times a week to pick up my produce and a few other random items. I'm very pleased by their vegetarian and vegan options. There is signage stating that in Aug 2016, they will have baby offerings, so I'm assuming that's diapers, wipes, etc. They do have a few non-food items like toilet tissue, pet food etc. I wouldn't come here specifically to purchase those types of items as the offerings are limited. They also now accept credit cards, which they did not accept in the recent past. Also, they have fewer employees than the typical grocery store but I don't notice a drastic difference from the typical grocery store, which, in my experience can vary from no wait to several minutes. If you bring your own bag, you get a discount, I think 5 cents per bag if I'm correct. They also have boxes for you to use should you forget a bag or you can buy a reusable one, which runs under a dollar, but I'm not sure of the exact price. read more

you can cut your grocery bill by shopping at Aldi. BIGTIME! There brands are the same ones your getting in the grocery store people dont let the labels fool you. Stop and shop gallons of milk are approx 5.00 aldi is 1.99 same quality. Get over the quarter deposit and lack of bags and do the math. My grocery bill has been cut by nearly half. Down sides are sometimes you love a product and never see it again and the produce department is slightly lacking and their meat is no bargain. I would love to see more organic choices at those cheap cheap prices!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aldi's makes me happy. You need to go a couple of times so that you will get the hang of it, it can be a little intimidating. You shouldn't go here expecting to cross everything off of your shopping list. To the people complaining that the produce wasn't great- then don't buy it. You know what a ripe banana looks like and sometimes the bananas aren't ripe. To the people complaining about unhealthy ingredients- you're wrong. Every supermarket has unhealthy options, Aldi's also has plenty of healthy offerings like their fit and tasty brand. To the people complaining that They don't have name brands- yeah so? They have some name brands and some no-name brands. The trick with Aldi's is that you should try everything once. I'd say they're hits at least 70% of the time. Some of favorite highlights are: brookie dough ice cream (better than half-baked), dark chocolate almonds, brownie/cookie dough mix, the frozen burgers are great, my kids likes the frozen chicken nuggets from here better than most places. So, bring a quarter for the cart, bring your own bags and check your ego at the door. Or if it's not your thing then fine, but I think everyone should give it a try. read more

I usually get to Aldi every two weeks or so, as it's not that convenient for me.They are all about their own labels, and you have to pack your own items. Prices in general are very low. They are mainly about grocery, but do have seasonal ( i.e. back to school or Christmas items) when appropriate,However, it can be hit or miss with items, especially produce. They don't always have a wide selection. Also, there's no deli and no fresh fish or bakery, which keeps costs down. Frozen foods are really a hit or miss, they might not have certain items for weeks or months on end. Cashiers are very fast, and once or twice I have found mistakes ringing up. However, in general, they're the best value if you aren't a slave to national brand snacks,crackers, etc. It's also annoying b/c you have to pay a 25 cent deposit for a cart, meaning there are almost never any carts left in the lot for a person who uses them for their kids or as a mobility aid. Not having a quarter I used a cart key designed for the type of mechanism their cars use. The checkout girl (Nicole) bitched me out and made me move all of my items one by one to another cart. She said she would have to throw that cart out now that it had been tainted by a cart key. I said that if that is the way she treats shoppers I won't shop there again. She said "I don't care." I asked for a manager and the manager defended her and refused to discipline her for the remark. If it's company policy to treat loyal shoppers with contempt I will never shop at this or ani Aldi or Trader Joe's again. I've been to Aldi's upstate and glad they opened here. Brie cheese,delish.$2.00 for milk,$2.00 for a bag of oranges. Ground beef and ground turkey,very fresh.My cats don't mind the cat food at .35 a can.Raisin bran very good.Tuna fish was loaded in the can,very little water and very good. I was in Lake Grove Aldi for some fruit they advertised, but they didn't have any and I noticed the milk was $1.99 a gallon, butter was $2.19 and eggs were $.99. Good prices. I wasn't going straight home, so I decided I would go to the Patchogue store next day because I was going to be in that neighborhood. The price on the milk in Patchogue was $3.49, the butter was $2.49. Eggs, $1.29. I asked why the prices were different and was informed that they charge different prices at different locations. "Competitive Pricing" Whatever the traffic will allow. I have gone to Aldi to buy advertised goods, especially fruit and vegetables, only to find "it was on the truck and will be delivered tomorrow". Why should people be charged more for the same food in different locations? Its not like they are a 100 miles apart. The call it competitive pricing. I call it competitive shopping and I won't be shopping at Aldi any more. read more

The prices are good especially on close out items but my biggest issue is the poor ingredients in many of the items. I spent a lot of time going through many of the items and most of them are filled with very poor quality ingredients and chemicals. Jams where the first ingredient is corn syrup or many other products with low quality oil such as palm oil and canola oil. If you don't care one iota about your health this place is good because of the price but if you actually care about what you put into your body this place is a nightmare. I really like this place, but I realize I can't get everything there. If you look close at their brand names and the packaging, it mimics the name brands AND tastes like them. For example, you can pay more than three bucks for a bag of Funyuns, yet Aldi's "Onion Rings" taste JUST like them for less than half the cost. Someone I know buys the chocolate chip cookies and swears they are Chips Ahoy in different packaging. She also swears by their salad dressing. And they DO carry some name brands, such as Cheerios, and lots of others that I can't think of right now. If you don't give some of these items a shot, you are paying WAY more in the supermarket for items that are identical in taste! I've been there 5 times already and I will go back again. I bought the Aldi's bags and just leave them in my trunk in case I have to stop in there. I just wouldn't buy produce there....it never looks very fresh. read more
